1 Thessalonians 4:11–12
Live quietly and work with your hands, with a good name before outsiders
Study it word by word11and to make it your ambition to live quietly and to attend to your own affairs and to work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
12so that you may walk properly toward those outside and have need of nothing.
In its context
9Now concerning brotherly love you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;
10for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, to abound more and more,
…
13But we do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, about those who are sleeping, so that you may not grieve as also the rest do who have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so also God will bring with him, through Jesus, those who have fallen asleep.
