John 2:1–11
Jesus is at a wedding in Cana and turns water into wine
Study it word by word1And on the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
2And Jesus too was invited to the wedding, and his disciples.
3And when the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus says to him, “They have no wine.”
4And Jesus says to her, “What is that to me and to you, woman? My hour has not yet come.”
5His mother says to the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”
6Now there were six stone water jars standing there for the purification of the Jews, each holding two or three measures.
7Jesus says to them, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
8And he says to them, “Draw some now and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it.
9When the master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast calls the bridegroom
10and says to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, the poorer wine; you have kept the good wine until now.”
11This Jesus did as the beginning of his signs in Cana of Galilee, and he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
