The queenוּמַלְכַּתof Shebaשְׁבָאheardשָׁמְעָהthe fameשֵׁמַעof Solomon,שְׁלֹמֹהand she cameוַתָּבוֹאto testלְנַסּוֹתSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהwith riddlesבְחִידוֹתin Jerusalem,בִּירוּשָׁלִַםwith a veryבְּ מְאֹדgreatכָּבֵדretinueחַיִלand camelsוּגְמַלִּיםcarryingנֹשְׂאִיםspices,בְּשָׂמִיםgoldוְזָהָבin abundance,לָרֹבand preciousוְ יְקָרָהstones;אֶבֶןshe cameוַתָּבוֹאtoאֶלSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהand spokeוַתְּדַבֵּרwith himעִמּוֹallכָּלthatאֲשֶׁרwasהָיָהonעִםher heart.לְבָבָהּ
Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהexplained to herוַיַּגֶּד לָהּallכָּלher words;דְּבָרֶיהָand there was noוְלֹאwordדָּבָרhiddenנֶעְלַםfrom Solomonמִשְּׁלֹמֹהthatאֲשֶׁרhe did notלֹאexplainהִגִּידto her.לָהּ
The queenמַלְכַּתof Shebaשְׁבָאsawוַתֵּרֶאthe wisdomחָכְמַתof Solomon,שְׁלֹמֹהand the houseוְהַבַּיִתthatאֲשֶׁרhe had built,בָּנָה
the foodוּמַאֲכַלof his table,שֻׁלְחָנוֹthe seatingוּמוֹשַׁבof his servants,עֲבָדָיוthe stationוּמַעֲמַדof his attendantsמְשָׁרְתָיוand their clothing,וּמַלְבּוּשֵׁיהֶםhis cupbearersוּמַשְׁקָיוand their clothing,וּמַלְבּוּשֵׁיהֶםand his ascentוַעֲלִיָּתוֹby whichאֲשֶׁרhe went upיַעֲלֶהto the houseבֵּיתof YHWH;יְהוָהand there was noוְלֹא הָיָהmoreעוֹדspiritרוּחַin her.בָּהּ
She saidוַתֹּאמֶרtoאֶלthe king,הַמֶּלֶךְ“Trueאֱמֶתwas the wordהַדָּבָרthatאֲשֶׁרI heardשָׁמַעְתִּיin my landבְּאַרְצִיaboutעַלyour wordsדְּבָרֶיךָand aboutוְעַלyour wisdom.חָכְמָתֶךָ
But I did notוְלֹאbelieveהֶאֱמַנְתִּיtheir wordsלְדִבְרֵיהֶםuntilעַד אֲשֶׁרI cameבָּאתִיand my eyesוַ עֵינַיsaw;תִּרְאֶינָהand look,וְהִנֵּהnotלֹאhalfחֲצִיof the greatnessמַרְבִּיתof your wisdomחָכְמָתֶךָwas toldהֻגַּדme;לִיyou have addedיָסַפְתָּtoעַלthe reportהַשְּׁמוּעָהthatאֲשֶׁרI heard.שָׁמָעְתִּי
Happy areאַשְׁרֵיyour men,אֲנָשֶׁיךָand happy areוְאַשְׁרֵיtheseאֵלֶּהservants of yoursעֲבָדֶיךָwho standהָעֹמְדִיםbefore youלְפָנֶיךָcontinuallyתָּמִידand hearוְשֹׁמְעִיםyour wisdom!חָכְמָתֶךָ
BlessedבָּרוּךְbeיְהִיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָwhoאֲשֶׁרdelightedחָפֵץin youבְּךָto set youלְתִתְּךָonעַלhis throneכִּסְאוֹas kingלְמֶלֶךְfor YHWHלַיהוָהyour Elohim!אֱלֹהֶיךָBecause of the loveבְּאַהֲבַתof your Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָfor Israel,אֶת יִשְׂרָאֵלto keep it firmלְהַעֲמִידוֹforever,לְעוֹלָםhe has set youוַיִּתֶּנְךָover themעֲלֵיהֶםas king,לְמֶלֶךְto doלַעֲשׂוֹתjusticeמִשְׁפָּטand righteousness.”וּצְדָקָה
She gaveוַתִּתֵּןthe kingלַמֶּלֶךְa hundredמֵאָהand twentyוְעֶשְׂרִיםtalentsכִּכַּרof gold,זָהָבand spicesוּבְשָׂמִיםin veryמְאֹדgreat abundance,לָרֹבand preciousוְ יְקָרָהstones;אֶבֶןthere were noוְלֹא הָיָהspicesכַּבֹּשֶׂםlike thoseהַהוּאthatאֲשֶׁרthe queenמַלְכַּתof Shebaשְׁבָאgaveנָתְנָהto KingלַמֶּלֶךְSolomon.שְׁלֹמֹה
Alsoוְגַםthe servantsעַבְדֵיof Huramחוּרָםand the servantsוְעַבְדֵיof Solomon,שְׁלֹמֹהwhoאֲשֶׁרbroughtהֵבִיאוּgoldזָהָבfrom Ophir,מֵאוֹפִירbroughtהֵבִיאוּalgumאַלְגּוּמִּיםwoodעֲצֵיand preciousוְ יְקָרָהstones.אֶבֶן
The kingהַמֶּלֶךְmadeוַיַּעַשׂof the algumהָאַלְגּוּמִּיםwoodעֲצֵיcausewaysמְסִלּוֹתfor the houseלְבֵיתof YHWHיְהוָהand for the houseוּלְבֵיתof the king,הַמֶּלֶךְand lyresוְכִנֹּרוֹתand harpsוּנְבָלִיםfor the singers;לַשָּׁרִיםnoneוְלֹאlike themכָהֵםhad been seenנִרְאוּbeforeלְפָנִיםin the landבְּאֶרֶץof Judah.יְהוּדָה
KingוְהַמֶּלֶךְSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהgaveנָתַןto the queenלְמַלְכַּתof Shebaשְׁבָאallכָּלher wish,חֶפְצָהּwhateverאֲשֶׁרshe asked,שָׁאָלָהbesidesמִלְּבַדwhatאֲשֶׁרshe had broughtהֵבִיאָהtoאֶלthe king.הַמֶּלֶךְThen she turnedוַתַּהֲפֹךְand wentוַתֵּלֶךְto her land,לְאַרְצָהּsheהִיאand her servants.וַעֲבָדֶיהָ

besidesלְבַדwhat the menמֵאַנְשֵׁיwho traveled aboutהַתָּרִיםand the merchantsוְהַסֹּחֲרִיםbrought;מְבִיאִיםand allוְכָלthe kingsמַלְכֵיof Arabiaעֲרַבand the governorsוּפַחוֹתof the landהָאָרֶץbroughtמְבִיאִיםgoldזָהָבand silverוָכֶסֶףto Solomon.לִשְׁלֹמֹה

There were sixוְשֵׁשׁstepsמַעֲלוֹתto the throneלַכִּסֵּאand a footstoolוְכֶבֶשׁof gold,בַּזָּהָבattachedמָאֳחָזִיםto the throne,לַכִּסֵּאand armsוְיָדוֹתon this sideמִזֶּהand on that sideוּמִזֶּהofעַלthe placeמְקוֹםof the seat,הַשָּׁבֶתand twoוּשְׁנַיִםlionsאֲרָיוֹתstandingעֹמְדִיםbesideאֵצֶלthe arms.הַיָּדוֹת

Allוְכֹלthe drinkingמַשְׁקֵהvesselsכְּלֵיof KingהַמֶּלֶךְSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהwere of gold,זָהָבand allוְכֹלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the Houseבֵּיתof the Forestיַעַרof Lebanonהַלְּבָנוֹןwere of fineסָגוּרgold;זָהָבsilverכֶּסֶףwas notאֵיןconsideredנֶחְשָׁבas anythingלִמְאוּמָהin the daysבִּימֵיof Solomon.שְׁלֹמֹה
Forכִּיthe kingלַמֶּלֶךְhad shipsאֳנִיּוֹתgoingהֹלְכוֹתto Tarshishתַּרְשִׁישׁwithעִםthe servantsעַבְדֵיof Huram;חוּרָםonceאַחַתeveryלְthreeשָׁלוֹשׁyearsשָׁנִיםthe shipsאֳנִיּוֹתof Tarshishתַּרְשִׁישׁwould comeתָּבוֹאנָהcarryingנֹשְׂאוֹתgoldזָהָבand silver,וָכֶסֶףivory,שֶׁנְהַבִּיםapes,וְקוֹפִיםand peacocks.וְתוּכִּיִּים
Kingוַ הַמֶּלֶךְSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהwas greaterיִּגְדַּלthan allמִכֹּלthe kingsמַלְכֵיof the earthהָאָרֶץin richesלְעֹשֶׁרand in wisdom.וְחָכְמָה
Allוְכֹלthe kingsמַלְכֵיof the earthהָאָרֶץsoughtמְבַקְשִׁיםthe faceפְּנֵיof Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהto hearלִשְׁמֹעַhis wisdom,חָכְמָתוֹwhichאֲשֶׁרElohimהָאֱלֹהִיםhad putנָתַןin his heart.בְּלִבּוֹ
Theyוְהֵםbroughtמְבִיאִיםeachאִישׁhis tribute:מִנְחָתוֹutensilsכְּלֵיof silverכֶסֶףand utensilsוּכְלֵיof gold,זָהָבcloaks,וּשְׂלָמוֹתweapons,נֵשֶׁקspices,וּבְשָׂמִיםhorses,סוּסִיםand mules,וּפְרָדִיםwhat was due for the year,דְּבַר שָׁנָהyear by year.בְּשָׁנָה
Solomon hadוַיְהִי לִשְׁלֹמֹהfourאַרְבַּעַתthousandאֲלָפִיםstallsאֻרְיוֹתfor horsesסוּסִיםand chariots,וּמַרְכָּבוֹתand twelveוּשְׁנֵים עָשָׂרthousandאֶלֶףhorsemen,פָּרָשִׁיםand he stationed themוַיַּנִּיחֵםin the citiesבְּעָרֵיof the chariotsהָרֶכֶבand withוְעִםthe kingהַמֶּלֶךְin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָם
He ruledוַיְהִי מוֹשֵׁלover allבְּכָלthe kingsהַמְּלָכִיםfromמִןthe River Euphratesהַנָּהָרtoוְעַדthe landאֶרֶץof the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּיםand toוְעַדthe borderגְּבוּלof Egypt.מִצְרָיִם
The kingהַמֶּלֶךְmadeוַיִּתֵּןthe silverהַכֶּסֶףin Jerusalemבִּירוּשָׁלִַםlike stones,כָּאֲבָנִיםand the cedarsוְ הָאֲרָזִיםhe madeנָתַןlike the sycamoresכַּשִּׁקְמִיםthat areאֲשֶׁרin the Shephelah,בַּשְּׁפֵלָהin abundance.לָרֹב
They were bringing outוּמוֹצִיאִיםhorsesסוּסִיםfrom Egyptמִמִּצְרַיִםfor Solomonלִשְׁלֹמֹהand from allוּמִכָּלthe lands.הָאֲרָצוֹת
The restוּשְׁאָרof the deedsדִּבְרֵיof Solomon,שְׁלֹמֹהthe firstהָרִאשֹׁנִיםand the last,וְהָאֲחֲרוֹנִיםare they notהֲלֹא הֵםwrittenכְּתוּבִיםinעַלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof Nathanנָתָןthe prophet,הַנָּבִיאand inוְעַלthe prophecyנְבוּאַתof Ahijahאֲחִיָּהthe Shilonite,הַשִּׁילוֹנִיand in the visionsוּבַחֲזוֹתof Jedoיֶעְדּוֹthe seerהַחֹזֶהconcerningעַלJeroboamיָרָבְעָםsonבֶּןof Nebat?נְבָט
Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהreignedוַיִּמְלֹךְin JerusalemבִירוּשָׁלִַםoverעַלallכָּלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלfortyאַרְבָּעִיםyears.שָׁנָה
