To meלִיthey will cry out,יִזְעָקוּ“My Elohim,אֱלֹהַיwe know you,יְדַעֲנוּךָwe, Israel.”יִשְׂרָאֵל
Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלhas rejectedזָנַחthe good;טוֹבan enemyאוֹיֵבwill pursue him.יִרְדְּפוֹ
Theyהֵםhave made kings,הִמְלִיכוּbut notוְלֹאfrom me;מִמֶּנִּיthey have made officials,הֵשִׂירוּbutוְI did notלֹאknow it;יָדָעְתִּיwith their silverכַּסְפָּםand their goldוּזְהָבָםthey have madeעָשׂוּfor themselvesלָהֶםidols,עֲצַבִּיםso thatלְמַעַןit may be cut off.יִכָּרֵת
He has rejectedזָנַחyour calf,עֶגְלֵךְSamaria;שֹׁמְרוֹןmy angerאַפִּיburnsחָרָהagainst them;בָּםhow longעַד מָתַיwill they notלֹאbe capableיוּכְלוּof innocence?נִקָּיֹן
Forכִּיfrom Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלis it too;וְהוּאa craftsmanחָרָשׁmade it,עָשָׂהוּand itוְ הוּאis notלֹאElohim;אֱלֹהִיםforכִּיthe calfעֵגֶלof Samariaשֹׁמְרוֹןwill beיִהְיֶהsplinters.שְׁבָבִים
Forכִּיwindרוּחַthey sow,יִזְרָעוּand a whirlwindוְסוּפָתָהthey will reap;יִקְצֹרוּstanding grain,קָמָהit hasלוֹnoאֵיןsprout;צֶמַחit will notבְּלִיyieldיַעֲשֶׂהflour;קֶּמַחif perhapsאוּלַיit yields,יַעֲשֶׂהstrangersזָרִיםwill swallow it.יִבְלָעֻהוּ
Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלis swallowed;נִבְלַעnowעַתָּהthey have becomeהָיוּamong the nationsבַגּוֹיִםlike a vesselכִּכְלִיin whichבּוֹthere is noאֵיןdelight.חֵפֶץ
Forכִּיtheyהֵמָּהhave gone upעָלוּto Assyria,אַשּׁוּרa wild donkeyפֶּרֶאaloneבּוֹדֵדby himself;לוֹEphraimאֶפְרַיִםhas hiredהִתְנוּlovers.אֲהָבִים
Evenגַּםthoughכִּיthey hireיִתְנוּamong the nations,בַגּוֹיִםnowעַתָּהI will gather them,אֲקַבְּצֵםand they will beginוַיָּחֵלּוּto diminish a littleמְּעָטfrom the burdenמִמַּשָּׂאof the kingמֶלֶךְof princes.שָׂרִים
ForכִּיEphraimאֶפְרַיִםhas multipliedהִרְבָּהaltarsמִזְבְּחֹתfor sinning,לַחֲטֹאthey have becomeהָיוּfor himלוֹaltarsמִזְבְּחוֹתfor sinning.לַחֲטֹא
I writeאֶכְתָּבfor himלוֹthe many thingsרֻבֵּיof my law;תּוֹרָתִיasכְּמוֹa strange thingזָרthey are regarded.נֶחְשָׁבוּ
The sacrificesזִבְחֵיof my offeringsהַבְהָבַיthey sacrifice,יִזְבְּחוּflesh,בָשָׂרand they eat it;וַיֹּאכֵלוּYHWHיְהוָהdoes notלֹאaccept them;רָצָםnowעַתָּהhe will rememberיִזְכֹּרtheir iniquityעֲוֺנָםand call to accountוְיִפְקֹדtheir sins;חַטֹּאותָםtheyהֵמָּהwill returnיָשׁוּבוּto Egypt.מִצְרַיִם
And Israelוַ יִשְׂרָאֵלhas forgottenיִּשְׁכַּחhis Makerעֹשֵׂהוּand builtוַיִּבֶןpalaces,הֵיכָלוֹתand Judahוִיהוּדָהhas multipliedהִרְבָּהfortifiedבְּצֻרוֹתcities;עָרִיםbut I will sendוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיfireאֵשׁon his cities,בְּעָרָיוand it will devourוְאָכְלָהher citadels.אַרְמְנֹתֶיהָ
