1 John 4:20–21
Whoever says he loves God and hates his brother is a liar
Study it word by word20If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
21And this commandment we have from him, that whoever loves God must love his brother also.
In its context
18There is no fear in love, but complete love casts fear out, because fear has to do with punishment; and whoever fears has not been brought to completion in love.
19We love, because he first loved us.
