From the fruitמִפְּרִיof the mouthפִיof a manאִישׁhe will eatיֹאכַלgood,טוֹבbut the soulוְנֶפֶשׁof the treacherous,בֹּגְדִיםviolence.חָמָס
Whoever watchesנֹצֵרhis mouthפִּיוguardsשֹׁמֵרhis soul;נַפְשׁוֹwhoever opens wideפֹּשֵׂקhis lips,שְׂפָתָיוruinמְחִתָּהis his.לוֹ
The soulנַפְשׁוֹof the sluggardעָצֵלcraves,מִתְאַוָּהand there is nothing;וָאַיִןbut the soulוְנֶפֶשׁof the diligentחָרֻצִיםwill be filled to the full.תְּדֻשָּׁן
A wordדְּבַרof falsehoodשֶׁקֶרthe righteousצַדִּיקhates,יִשְׂנָאbut the wickedוְרָשָׁעcauses a stenchיַבְאִישׁand brings reproach.וְיַחְפִּיר
Righteousnessצְדָקָהguardsתִּצֹּרthe one blamelessתָּםin his way,דָּרֶךְbut wickednessוְרִשְׁעָהpervertsתְּסַלֵּףthe sinner.חַטָּאת
There isיֵשׁone who makes himself rich,מִתְעַשֵּׁרand has nothingוְאֵיןat all;כֹּלone who makes himself poor,מִתְרוֹשֵׁשׁand hasוְgreatרָבwealth.הוֹן
The ransomכֹּפֶרof the soulנֶפֶשׁof a manאִישׁis his riches,עָשְׁרוֹbut the poorוְרָשׁdoes notלֹאhearשָׁמַעa threat.גְּעָרָה
The lightאוֹרof the righteousצַדִּיקִיםrejoices,יִשְׂמָחbut the lampוְנֵרof the wickedרְשָׁעִיםgoes out.יִדְעָךְ
Onlyרַקthrough insolenceבְּזָדוֹןcomesיִתֵּןstrife,מַצָּהbutוְwithאֶתthose who take counselנוֹעָצִיםis wisdom.חָכְמָה
Wealthהוֹןgained by vaporמֵהֶבֶלdwindles,יִמְעָטbut whoever gathersוְקֹבֵץby handעַל יָדincreases it.יַרְבֶּה
Hopeתּוֹחֶלֶתdeferredמְמֻשָּׁכָהmakes sickמַחֲלָהthe heart,לֵבbut a treeוְעֵץof lifeחַיִּיםis desireתַּאֲוָהfulfilled.בָאָה
Whoever despisesבָּזthe wordלְדָבָרwill be ruined,יֵחָבֶל לוֹbut whoever fearsוִירֵאthe commandmentמִצְוָהwill be rewarded.הוּא יְשֻׁלָּם
The instructionתּוֹרַתof the wiseחָכָםis a fountainמְקוֹרof life,חַיִּיםto turn awayלָסוּרfrom the snaresמִמֹּקְשֵׁיof death.מָוֶת
Goodטוֹבprudenceשֵׂכֶלgivesיִתֶּןfavor,חֵןbut the wayוְדֶרֶךְof the treacherousבֹּגְדִיםis hard.אֵיתָן
Everyכָּלshrewd manעָרוּםactsיַעֲשֶׂהwith knowledge,בְדָעַתbut the senselessוּכְסִילspreads outיִפְרֹשׂfolly.אִוֶּלֶת
A wickedרָשָׁעmessengerמַלְאָךְfallsיִפֹּלinto evil,בְּרָעbut a faithfulאֱמוּנִיםenvoyוְצִירis healing.מַרְפֵּא
Povertyרֵישׁand disgraceוְקָלוֹןcome to whoever ignoresפּוֹרֵעַcorrection,מוּסָרbut whoever heedsוְשׁוֹמֵרreproofתּוֹכַחַתwill be honored.יְכֻבָּד
Desireתַּאֲוָהfulfilledנִהְיָהis sweetתֶּעֱרַבto the soul,לְנָפֶשׁbut an abominationוְתוֹעֲבַתto the senselessכְּסִילִיםis turning awayסוּרfrom evil.מֵרָע
Whoever walksהוֹלֵךְwithאֶתthe wiseחֲכָמִיםwill become wise,יֶחְכָּםbut the companionוְרֹעֶהof the senselessכְסִילִיםwill suffer harm.יֵרוֹעַ
Evilרָעָהpursuesתְּרַדֵּףsinners,חַטָּאִיםbutוְאֶתthe righteousצַדִּיקִיםwill be repaidיְשַׁלֶּםwith good.טוֹב
A good manטוֹבleaves an inheritanceיַנְחִילto the sonsבְּנֵיof his sons,בָנִיםbut stored upוְצָפוּןfor the righteousלַצַּדִּיקis the wealthחֵילof the sinner.חוֹטֵא
Muchרָבfoodאֹכֶלis in the fallow groundנִירof the poor,רָאשִׁיםbut there isוְיֵשׁone who is swept awayנִסְפֶּהfor lackבְּלֹאof justice.מִשְׁפָּט
Whoever holds backחוֹשֵׂךְhis rodשִׁבְטוֹhatesשׂוֹנֵאhis son,בְנוֹbut whoever loves himוְאֹהֲבוֹeagerly gives himשִׁחֲרוֹcorrection.מוּסָר
