And it happened,וַיְהִיat the turnלְעֵת תְּשׁוּבַתof the year,הַשָּׁנָהat the timeלְעֵתwhen the kingsהַמְּלָכִיםgo out,צֵאתthat Joabוַ יוֹאָבled outיִּנְהַגthe forceחֵילof the armyהַצָּבָאand destroyedוַיַּשְׁחֵתthe landאֶרֶץof the sonsבְּנֵיof Ammon,עַמּוֹןand cameוַיָּבֹאand besiegedוַיָּצַרRabbah.רַבָּהBut Davidוְדָוִידstayedיֹשֵׁבin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָםAnd Joabוַ יוֹאָבstruckיַּךְRabbahרַבָּהand tore it down.וַיֶּהֶרְסֶהָ
Davidדָּוִידtookוַיִּקַּחthe crownעֲטֶרֶתof their kingמַלְכָּםfromמֵעַלhis head,רֹאשׁוֹand he found itוַיִּמְצָאָהּto weighמִשְׁקַלa talentכִּכַּרof gold,זָהָבand on itוּבָהּwasa preciousיְקָרָהstone;אֶבֶןand it wasוַתְּהִיonעַלthe headרֹאשׁof David.דָּוִידAnd the spoilוּשְׁלַלof the cityהָעִירhe brought out,הוֹצִיאa veryמְאֹדgreat amount.הַרְבֵּה
And the peopleוְ הָעָםwhoאֲשֶׁרwerein itבָּהּhe brought out,הוֹצִיאand he sawed themוַיָּשַׂרwith the sawבַּמְּגֵרָהand with the picksוּבַחֲרִיצֵיof ironהַבַּרְזֶלand with the saws;וּבַמְּגֵרוֹתand soוְכֵןDavidדָוִידdidיַעֲשֶׂהto allלְכֹלthe citiesעָרֵיof the sonsבְנֵיof Ammon.עַמּוֹןThen Davidוַ דָּוִידand allוְכָלthe peopleהָעָםreturnedיָּשָׁבto Jerusalem.יְרוּשָׁלִָם
And it happenedוַיְהִיafterאַחֲרֵיthisכֵןthat warוַ מִלְחָמָהaroseתַּעֲמֹדat Gezerבְּגֶזֶרwithעִםthe Philistines.פְּלִשְׁתִּיםThenאָזSibbecaiסִבְּכַיthe HushathiteהַחֻשָׁתִיstruckהִכָּהSippai,סִפַּיof the descendantsמִילִדֵיof the Rephaim;הָרְפָאִיםand they were subdued.וַיִּכָּנֵעוּ
There wasוַתְּהִיwarמִלְחָמָהagainעוֹדwithאֶתthe Philistines,פְּלִשְׁתִּיםand Elhananוַ אֶלְחָנָןsonבֶּןof JairיָעִירstruckיַּךְLahmiלַחְמִיthe brotherאֲחִיof Goliathגָּלְיָתthe Gittite;הַגִּתִּיand the shaftוְעֵץof his spearחֲנִיתוֹwas like a beamכִּמְנוֹרof weavers.אֹרְגִים
There wasוַתְּהִיwarמִלְחָמָהagainעוֹדat Gath,בְּגַתand there wasוַיְהִיa manאִישׁof great stature,מִדָּהand his fingersוְאֶצְבְּעֹתָיוwere sixשֵׁשׁand six,וָשֵׁשׁtwenty-four;עֶשְׂרִים וְאַרְבַּעand heוְ הוּאtooגַםhad been bornנוֹלַדto Rapha.לְהָרָפָא
He tauntedוַיְחָרֵףIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלand Jonathanיְהוֹנָתָןsonבֶּןof Shimea,שִׁמְעָאDavid’sדָוִידbrother,אֲחִיstruck him.וַיַּכֵּהוּ
Theseאֵלwere bornנוּלְּדוּto Raphaלְהָרָפָאin Gath,בְּגַתand they fellוַיִּפְּלוּby the handבְיַדof Davidדָּוִידand by the handוּבְיַדof his servants.עֲבָדָיו
