YHWH
The personal name of the God of Israel, written in Hebrew with four letters, Y-H-W-H, without vowels. Out of reverence Jews stopped pronouncing it and read "Adonai" (Lord), so many Bibles put "the LORD" or "Jehovah". This translation keeps the four letters. The name is related to the verb "to be" (Exodus 3:14-15). He is not a god other than Elohim: "YHWH Elohim" is the same Creator God, called by his name.
Where else “yehva” appears- dieאָמוּתamut
die
To cease living; also, one who has ceased living.
Where else “amut” appears
Translation note
The Hebrew of this verse is difficult (it repeats “and not” three times). The general sense is clear: Jonathan asks David to show him “the loyal love of YHWH,” to him and afterward to his family (v. 15).
The context
13So may YHWH do to Jonathan and so may he add: if it seems good to my father to bring the evil upon you, I will make it known to you and send you away, and you shall go in peace. And may YHWH be with you, as he was with my father.
14 · This verse (above)
15And you shall not cut off your loyal love from my house forever, not even when YHWH cuts off the enemies of David, each one, from the face of the ground.”
