2 Samuel 5:6-10
6The king and his men went to Jerusalem, against the Jebusite, who lived in the land; and he said to David, “You will not come in here, but the blind and the lame will turn you away,” as if to say, “David will not come in here.” 7But David captured the stronghold of Zion; that is the city of David. 8David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusite, let him reach through the channel the lame and the blind, hated by the soul of David.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.” 9David lived in the stronghold and called it the city of David; and David built all around from the Millo inward. 10David kept growing greater, and YHWH, Elohim Tsevaot, was with him.
4And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, that is Jebus; and there was the Jebusite, the inhabitants of the land. 5The inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” But David captured the stronghold of Zion; that is the city of David. 6David said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusite first will be head and commander.” And Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and he became head. 7David lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it the city of David. 8He built the city all around, from the Millo to the surrounding area; and Joab revived the rest of the city. 9David kept growing greater, and YHWH Tsevaot was with him.
