They setוַיַּרְכִּבוּthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםonאֶלa newחֲדָשָׁהcartעֲגָלָהand carried itוַיִּשָּׂאֻהוּfrom the houseמִבֵּיתof Abinadab,אֲבִינָדָבwhichאֲשֶׁרwason the hill;בַּגִּבְעָהand Uzzahוְעֻזָּאand Ahio,וְאַחְיוֹthe sonsבְּנֵיof Abinadab,אֲבִינָדָבwere drivingנֹהֲגִיםthe newחֲדָשָׁהcart.הָעֲגָלָה
They carried itוַיִּשָּׂאֻהוּfrom the houseמִבֵּיתof Abinadab,אֲבִינָדָבwhichאֲשֶׁרwason the hill,בַּגִּבְעָהwithעִםthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohim;הָאֱלֹהִיםand Ahioוְאַחְיוֹwas walkingהֹלֵךְbeforeלִפְנֵיthe ark.הָאָרוֹן
Davidוְדָוִדand allוְכָלthe houseבֵּיתof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwere celebratingמְשַׂחֲקִיםbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהwith allבְּכֹלkinds of instruments ofcypressבְרוֹשִׁיםwood,עֲצֵיwith lyres,וּבְכִנֹּרוֹתwith harps,וּבִנְבָלִיםwith tambourines,וּבְתֻפִּיםwith sistrums,וּבִמְנַעַנְעִיםand with cymbals.וּבְצֶלְצֶלִים
When they cameוַיָּבֹאוּtoעַדthe threshing floorגֹּרֶןof Nacon,נָכוֹןUzzahעֻזָּאreached out his handוַיִּשְׁלַחtoאֶלthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםand took holdוַיֹּאחֶזof it,בּוֹforכִּיthe oxenהַבָּקָרstumbled.שָׁמְטוּ
The angerאַףof YHWHיְהוָהburnedוַיִּחַרagainst Uzzah,בְּעֻזָּהand Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםstruck himוַיַּכֵּהוּthereשָׁםforעַלthe fault,הַשַּׁלand he diedוַיָּמָתthereשָׁםbesideעִםthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohim.הָאֱלֹהִים
Davidדָוִדwas angryוַיִּחַר לְbecauseעַל אֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad madeפָּרַץa breachפֶּרֶץagainst Uzzah;בְּעֻזָּהand he calledוַיִּקְרָאthatהַהוּאplaceלַמָּקוֹםPerez-uzzah,פֶּרֶץ עֻזָּהtoעַדthisהַזֶּהday.הַיּוֹם
DavidדָוִדfearedוַיִּרָאYHWHיְהוָהthatבַּ הַהוּאdayיּוֹםand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Howאֵיךְcan the arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהcomeיָבוֹאto me?”אֵלַי
So Davidוְ דָוִדwas notלֹאwillingאָבָהto moveלְהָסִירthe arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהto himselfאֵלָיוintoעַלthe cityעִירof David;דָּוִדand Davidוַ דָוִדturned it asideיַּטֵּהוּtothe houseבֵּיתof Obed-edomעֹבֵד אֱדוֹםthe Gittite.הַגִּתִּי
The arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהremainedוַיֵּשֶׁבinthe houseבֵּיתof Obed-edomעֹבֵד אֱדֹםthe Gittiteהַגִּתִּיthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהmonths,חֳדָשִׁיםand YHWHוַ יְהוָהblessedיְבָרֶךְObed-edomעֹבֵד אֱדֹםand allוְ כָּלhis house.בֵּיתוֹ
It was reportedוַיֻּגַּדto KingלַמֶּלֶךְDavid,דָּוִדsaying,לֵאמֹר“YHWHיְהוָהhas blessedבֵּרַךְthe houseבֵּיתof Obed-edomעֹבֵד אֱדֹםand allוְ כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרbelongsto him,לוֹfor the sake ofבַּעֲבוּרthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohim.”הָאֱלֹהִיםSo Davidוַ דָּוִדwentיֵּלֶךְand brought upוַיַּעַלthe arkאֲרוֹןof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםfrom the houseמִבֵּיתof Obed-edomעֹבֵד אֱדֹםtothe cityעִירof Davidדָּוִדwith joy.בְּשִׂמְחָה
And it happened thatוַיְהִיwhenכִּיthose carryingנֹשְׂאֵיthe arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהhad goneצָעֲדוּsixשִׁשָּׁהsteps,צְעָדִיםhe sacrificedוַיִּזְבַּחan oxשׁוֹרand a fattened animal.וּמְרִיא
Davidוְדָוִדwas dancingמְכַרְכֵּרwith allבְּכָלhisstrengthעֹזbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWH,יְהוָהand Davidוְדָוִדwas girdedחָגוּרwith a linenבָּדephod.אֵפוֹד
So Davidוְדָוִדand allוְכָלthe houseבֵּיתof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלwere bringing upמַעֲלִיםthe arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהwith acclamationבִּתְרוּעָהand with the soundוּבְקוֹלof the horn.שׁוֹפָר
And asוְהָיָהthe arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהwas comingבָּאintothe cityעִירof David,דָּוִדMichalוּמִיכַלthe daughterבַּתof Saulשָׁאוּלlooked downנִשְׁקְפָהthroughבְּעַדthe windowהַחַלּוֹןand sawוַתֵּרֶאKingהַמֶּלֶךְDavidדָּוִדleapingמְפַזֵּזand dancingוּמְכַרְכֵּרbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWH;יְהוָהand she despisedוַתִּבֶזhimלוֹin her heart.בְּלִבָּהּ
They brought inוַיָּבִאוּthe arkאֲרוֹןof YHWHיְהוָהand setוַיַּצִּגוּitאֹתוֹin its place,בִּמְקוֹמוֹinsideבְּתוֹךְthe tentהָאֹהֶלthatאֲשֶׁרDavidדָּוִדhad pitchedנָטָהfor it;לוֹand Davidוַ דָּוִדoffered upיַּעַלburnt offeringsעֹלוֹתbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWH,יְהוָהand peace offerings.וּשְׁלָמִים
When Davidוַ דָּוִדhad finishedיְכַלoffering upמֵהַעֲלוֹתthe burnt offeringהָעוֹלָהand the peace offerings,וְהַשְּׁלָמִיםhe blessedוַיְבָרֶךְthe peopleהָעָםin the nameבְּשֵׁםof YHWHיְהוָהTsevaot.צְבָאוֹת
And he distributedוַיְחַלֵּקto allלְכָלthe people,הָעָםto allלְכָלthe multitudeהֲמוֹןof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלfromלְמֵmanאִישׁtoוְעַדwoman,אִשָּׁהto each oneלְאִישׁoneאַחַתcakeחַלַּתof bread,לֶחֶםoneאֶחָדportion of meat,וְאֶשְׁפָּרand oneוַ אֶחָתraisin cake.אֲשִׁישָׁהThen allוַ כָּלthe peopleהָעָםwent,יֵּלֶךְeachאִישׁto his house.לְבֵיתוֹ
Davidדָּוִדreturnedוַיָּשָׁבto blessלְבָרֵךְhis household,בֵּיתוֹand Michalוַ מִיכַלthe daughterבַּתof Saulשָׁאוּלcame outתֵּצֵאto meetלִקְרַאתDavidדָּוִדand said,וַתֹּאמֶר“Howמַהthe kingמֶלֶךְof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלhas honored himselfנִּכְבַּדtoday,הַיּוֹםwhoאֲשֶׁרuncovered himselfנִגְלָהtodayהַיּוֹםin the eyesלְעֵינֵיof the slave womenאַמְהוֹתof his servants,עֲבָדָיוasכְּoneאַחַדof the empty onesהָרֵקִיםshamelesslyהִגָּלוֹתuncovers himself!”נִגְלוֹת
DavidדָּוִדsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMichal,מִיכַל“BeforeלִפְנֵיYHWH,יְהוָהwhoאֲשֶׁרchoseבָּחַרmeבִּיaboveמֵyour fatherאָבִיךְand aboveוּמִallכָּלhis house,בֵּיתוֹto commandלְצַוֺּתmeאֹתִיto beleaderנָגִידoverעַלthe peopleעַםof YHWH,יְהוָהoverעַלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלbeforeוְ לִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהI will celebrate.שִׂחַקְתִּי
And I will make myself contemptibleוּנְקַלֹּתִיeven moreעוֹדthan this,מִזֹּאתand I will beוְהָיִיתִיlowשָׁפָלin my own eyes;בְּעֵינָיbut withוְעִםthe slave womenהָאֲמָהוֹתof whomאֲשֶׁרyou have spoken,אָמַרְתְּwith themעִמָּםI will be honored.”אִכָּבֵדָה
And Michalוּלְמִיכַלthe daughterבַּתof Saulשָׁאוּלhadהָיָה לָהּnoלֹאchildיָלֶדuntilעַדthe dayיוֹםof her death.מוֹתָהּ
