Translation note· on the manuscripts
In 9:7 it says that they heard the voice (tēs phōnēs, in the genitive); here, that they did not hear it (tēn phōnēn, in the accusative). It can be understood that they heard the sound but did not understand the words. Many manuscripts add “and they were filled with fear.”
