a timeעֵתto weepלִבְכּוֹתand a timeוְעֵתto laugh;לִשְׂחוֹקa timeעֵתto mournסְפוֹדand a timeוְעֵתto dance;רְקוֹד
a timeעֵתto throw awayלְהַשְׁלִיךְstonesאֲבָנִיםand a timeוְעֵתto gatherכְּנוֹסstones;אֲבָנִיםa timeעֵתto embraceלַחֲבוֹקand a timeוְעֵתto keep farלִרְחֹקfrom embracing;מֵחַבֵּק
a timeעֵתto seekלְבַקֵּשׁand a timeוְעֵתto lose;לְאַבֵּדa timeעֵתto keepלִשְׁמוֹרand a timeוְעֵתto throw away;לְהַשְׁלִיךְ
a timeעֵתto tearלִקְרוֹעַand a timeוְעֵתto sew;לִתְפּוֹרa timeעֵתto keep silentלַחֲשׁוֹתand a timeוְעֵתto speak;לְדַבֵּר
a timeעֵתto loveלֶאֱהֹבand a timeוְעֵתto hate;לִשְׂנֹאa timeעֵתof warמִלְחָמָהand a timeוְעֵתof peace.שָׁלוֹם
Whatמַהprofitיִּתְרוֹןhas the one who worksהָעוֹשֶׂהin that in whichבַּאֲשֶׁרheהוּאtoils?עָמֵל
I sawרָאִיתִיthe occupationאֶת הָעִנְיָןthatאֲשֶׁרElohimאֱלֹהִיםhas givenנָתַןto human beingsלִבְנֵי הָאָדָםto be occupiedלַעֲנוֹתwith it.בּוֹ
Everythingאֶת הַכֹּלhe has madeעָשָׂהbeautifulיָפֶהin its time;בְעִתּוֹalsoגַּםeternityאֶת הָעֹלָםhe has putנָתַןin their heart,בְּלִבָּםwithoutמִבְּלִיthe human beingהָאָדָםfinding outאֲשֶׁר לֹא יִמְצָאthe workאֶת הַמַּעֲשֶׂהthatאֲשֶׁרElohimהָאֱלֹהִיםhas doneעָשָׂהfrom the beginningמֵרֹאשׁto the end.וְעַד סוֹף
I knewיָדַעְתִּיthatכִּיthere is noאֵיןgoodטוֹבin themבָּםexceptכִּי אִםto rejoiceלִשְׂמוֹחַand to doוְלַעֲשׂוֹתgoodטוֹבin his life;בְּחַיָּיו
and alsoוְגַםthat everyכָּלhuman beingהָאָדָםwho eatsשֶׁיֹּאכַלand drinksוְשָׁתָהand seesוְרָאָהgoodטוֹבin allבְּכָלhis toilעֲמָלוֹ— it isהִיאthe giftמַתַּתof Elohim.אֱלֹהִים
I knewיָדַעְתִּיthatכִּיallכָּלthatאֲשֶׁרElohimהָאֱלֹהִיםdoesיַעֲשֶׂהitהוּאwill beיִהְיֶהforever;לְעוֹלָםto itעָלָיוthere is noאֵיןadding,לְהוֹסִיףand from itוּמִמֶּנּוּthere is noאֵיןtaking away;לִגְרֹעַand Elohimוְהָאֱלֹהִיםhas done itעָשָׂהso that they fearשֶׁיִּרְאוּbefore him.מִלְּפָנָיו
Whatמַה שֶּׁhas beenהָיָהalreadyכְּבָרis,הוּאand whatוַאֲשֶׁרis to beלִהְיוֹתalreadyכְּבָרhas been;הָיָהand Elohimוְהָאֱלֹהִיםseeksיְבַקֵּשׁwhat is pursued.אֶת נִרְדָּף
AndוְI sawרָאִיתִיfurtherעוֹדunderתַּחַתthe sun:הַשָּׁמֶשׁthe placeמְקוֹםof justice—הַמִּשְׁפָּטthereשָׁמָּהwas wickedness;הָרֶשַׁעand the placeוּמְקוֹםof righteousness—הַצֶּדֶקthereשָׁמָּהwas wickedness.הָרָשַׁע
Iאֲנִיsaidאָמַרְתִּיin my heart,בְּלִבִּי“The righteousאֶת הַצַּדִּיקand the wickedוְאֶת הָרָשָׁעElohimהָאֱלֹהִיםwill judge,יִשְׁפֹּטforכִּיthere is a timeעֵתfor everyלְכָלmatterחֵפֶץand for everyוְעַל כָּלworkהַמַּעֲשֶׂהthere.”שָׁם
Iאֲנִיsaidאָמַרְתִּיin my heartבְּלִבִּיconcerningעַל דִּבְרַתhuman beings,בְּנֵי הָאָדָם“Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםtests themלְבָרָםso that they may seeוְלִרְאוֹתthat theyשְׁהֶםare beasts,בְּהֵמָהtheyהֵמָּהby themselves.”לָהֶם
Forכִּיthe fateמִקְרֶהof human beingsבְנֵי הָאָדָםand the fateוּמִקְרֶהof the beastהַבְּהֵמָה— one fateוּמִקְרֶה אֶחָדis theirs:לָהֶםasכְּthis oneזֶהdies,מוֹתsoכֵּןthat oneזֶהdies,מוֹתand oneוְ אֶחָדbreathרוּחַis for all,לַכֹּלand the advantageוּמוֹתַרof the human beingהָאָדָםover the beastמִן הַבְּהֵמָהis nothing,אָיִןforכִּיallהַכֹּלis vapor.הָבֶל
Allהַכֹּלgoesהוֹלֵךְto oneאֶל אֶחָדplace;מָקוֹםallהַכֹּלcameהָיָהfrom the dust,מִן הֶעָפָרand allוְהַכֹּלreturnsשָׁבto the dust.אֶל הֶעָפָר
Whoמִיknowsיוֹדֵעַthe breathרוּחַof human beings,בְּנֵי הָאָדָםthe one that goes upהָעֹלָה הִיאupward,לְמָעְלָהand the breathוְרוּחַof the beast,הַבְּהֵמָהthe one that goes downהַיֹּרֶדֶת הִיאdownwardלְמַטָּהto the earth?לָאָרֶץ
And I sawוְרָאִיתִיthatכִּיthere is nothingאֵיןbetterטוֹב מֵthan thatאֲשֶׁרthe human beingהָאָדָםshould rejoiceיִשְׂמַחin his works,בְּמַעֲשָׂיוforכִּיthatהוּאis his portion;חֶלְקוֹforכִּיwhoמִיwill bring himיְבִיאֶנּוּto seeלִרְאוֹתwhatבְּמֶה שֶׁwill beיִּהְיֶהafter him?אַחֲרָיו
