to whomאֲשֶׁר אֵלָיוthe wordדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameהָיָהin the daysבִּימֵיof Josiahיֹאשִׁיָּהוּsonבֶןof Amon,אָמוֹןkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהin the thirteenth yearבִּשְׁלֹשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָהof his reign;לְמָלְכוֹ
and it cameוַיְהִיin the daysבִּימֵיof Jehoiakimיְהוֹיָקִיםsonבֶּןof Josiah,יֹאשִׁיָּהוּkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהuntilעַדthe endתֹּםof the eleventh yearעַשְׁתֵּי עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָהof Zedekiahלְצִדְקִיָּהוּsonבֶןof Josiah,יֹאשִׁיָּהוּkingמֶלֶךְof Judah,יְהוּדָהuntilעַדthe exileגְּלוֹתof Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַםin the fifthהַחֲמִישִׁיmonth.בַּחֹדֶשׁ
And the wordוַ דְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameיְהִיto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר
“BeforeבְּטֶרֶםI formed youאֶצָּרְךָin the wombבַבֶּטֶןI knew you,יְדַעְתִּיךָand beforeוּבְטֶרֶםyou came outתֵּצֵאof the wombמֵרֶחֶםI consecrated you;הִקְדַּשְׁתִּיךָa prophetנָבִיאto the nationsלַגּוֹיִםI appointed you.”נְתַתִּיךָ
And I said,וָאֹמַר“Ah,אֲהָהּAdonaiאֲדֹנָיYHWH!יְהֹוִהLook,הִנֵּהI do notלֹאknow howיָדַעְתִּיto speak,דַּבֵּרforכִּיI am a boy.”נַעַר אָנֹכִי
And YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Do notאַלsay,תֹּאמַר‘I am a boy,’נַעַר אָנֹכִיforכִּיto allעַל כָּלto whomאֲשֶׁרI send youאֶשְׁלָחֲךָyou will go,תֵּלֵךְand allוְאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרI command youאֲצַוְּךָyou will speak.תְּדַבֵּר
Do notאַלbe afraidתִּירָאof them,מִפְּנֵיהֶםforכִּיwith youאִתְּךָam Iאֲנִיto rescue you,לְהַצִּלֶךָdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH.”יְהוָה
And YHWHיְהוָהstretched outוַיִּשְׁלַחhis handאֶת יָדוֹand touchedוַיַּגַּעmy mouth,עַל פִּיand YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“Look,הִנֵּהI have putנָתַתִּיmy wordsדְבָרַיin your mouth.בְּפִיךָ
See,רְאֵהI have appointed youהִפְקַדְתִּיךָthis dayהַיּוֹם הַזֶּהover the nationsעַל הַגּוֹיִםand over the kingdomsוְעַל הַמַּמְלָכוֹתto uprootלִנְתוֹשׁand to tear down,וְלִנְתוֹץto destroyוּלְהַאֲבִידand to demolish,וְלַהֲרוֹסto buildלִבְנוֹתand to plant.”וְלִנְטוֹעַ
And the wordוַ דְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameיְהִיto me,אֵלַיsaying,לֵאמֹר“Whatמָהdo youאַתָּהsee,רֹאֶהJeremiah?”יִרְמְיָהוּAnd I said,וָאֹמַר“A rodמַקֵּלof almondשָׁקֵדIאֲנִיsee.”רֹאֶה
And YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלַי“You have seen well,הֵיטַבְתָּ לִרְאוֹתforכִּיIאֲנִיam watchingשֹׁקֵדover my wordעַל דְּבָרִיto do it.”לַעֲשֹׂתוֹ
And the wordוַ דְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameיְהִיto meאֵלַיa second time,שֵׁנִיתsaying,לֵאמֹר“Whatמָהdo you see?”אַתָּה רֹאֶהAnd I said,וָאֹמַר“A potסִירboilingנָפוּחַIאֲנִיsee,רֹאֶהand its face isוּפָנָיוfrom the north.”מִפְּנֵי צָפוֹנָה
And YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto me,אֵלָי“From the northמִצָּפוֹןevilהָרָעָהwill break openתִּפָּתַחon allעַל כָּלthe inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵיof the land.הָאָרֶץ
Forכִּיlook, Iהִנְנִיam callingקֹרֵאallלְכָלthe clansמִשְׁפְּחוֹתof the kingdomsמַמְלְכוֹתof the north,צָפוֹנָהdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH,יְהוָהand they will comeוּבָאוּand setוְנָתְנוּeachאִישׁhis throneכִּסְאוֹat the entranceפֶּתַחof the gatesשַׁעֲרֵיof Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַםand against allוְעַל כָּלits wallsחוֹמֹתֶיהָall aroundסָבִיבand against allוְעַל כָּלthe citiesעָרֵיof Judah.יְהוּדָה
And I will pronounceוְדִבַּרְתִּיmy judgmentsמִשְׁפָּטַיagainst themאוֹתָםfor allעַל כָּלtheir evil,רָעָתָםin thatאֲשֶׁרthey have forsaken meעֲזָבוּנִיand burned incenseוַיְקַטְּרוּto other godsלֵאלֹהִים אֲחֵרִיםand bowed downוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּto the worksלְמַעֲשֵׂיof their hands.יְדֵיהֶם
But you,וְאַתָּהgird upתֶּאְזֹרyour loins,מָתְנֶיךָand arise,וְקַמְתָּand speak to themוְדִבַּרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶםallאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיcommand you.אֲצַוֶּךָּDo notאַלbe dismayedתֵּחַתbefore them,מִפְּנֵיהֶםorפֶּןI will dismay youאֲחִתְּךָbefore them.לִפְנֵיהֶם
And I,וַאֲנִיlook,הִנֵּהI have made youנְתַתִּיךָthis dayהַיּוֹםa fortifiedמִבְצָרcityלְעִירand an ironבַּרְזֶלpillarוּלְעַמּוּדand bronzeנְחֹשֶׁתwallsוּלְחֹמוֹתagainst the wholeעַל כָּלland,הָאָרֶץagainst the kingsלְמַלְכֵיof Judah,יְהוּדָהagainst its princes,לְשָׂרֶיהָagainst its priests,לְכֹהֲנֶיהָand against the peopleוּלְעַםof the land.הָאָרֶץ
And they will fightוְנִלְחֲמוּagainst you,אֵלֶיךָbut they will notוְלֹאprevailיוּכְלוּagainst you,לָךְforכִּיwith youאִתְּךָam I,אֲנִיdeclaresנְאֻםYHWH,יְהוָהto rescue you.”לְהַצִּילֶךָ
