- The loyal lovesחַסְדֵיchasde
loyal love
God's steadfast kindness, true to his covenant, never forsaking.
Where else “chasde” appears- of YHWHיְהוָהyehva
YHWH
The personal name of the God of Israel, written in Hebrew with four letters, Y-H-W-H, without vowels. Out of reverence Jews stopped pronouncing it and read "Adonai" (Lord), so many Bibles put "the LORD" or "Jehovah". This translation keeps the four letters. The name is related to the verb "to be" (Exodus 3:14-15). He is not a god other than Elohim: "YHWH Elohim" is the same Creator God, called by his name.
Where else “yehva” appears- been consumedתָמְנוּtamnu
be consumed
To be completely destroyed.
Where else “tamnu” appears- his merciesרַחֲמָיrachamay
compassion
A deep tenderness, like a mother's.
Where else “rachamay” appears- come to an endכָלוּchalu
destroy
To put an end to something, destroy it.
Where else “chalu” appears
Translation note
Literally “we have not been consumed” (first person plural). Reading “they do not come to an end,” referring it to the loyal loves of YHWH, requires changing the form of the Hebrew text.
