2 Timothy 1:6–7
Paul tells Timothy to fan the gift into flame: God gives power, love and sound judgment
Study it word by word6For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands;
7for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power and of love and of sound judgment.
In its context
4longing to see you, remembering your tears, so that I may be filled with joy,
5having been reminded of the sincere faith in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am convinced that it lives also in you.
…
8So do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the good news by the power of God,
9who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in the Messiah Jesus before eternal times,
