Habakkuk 3:17–19
Habakkuk says he will rejoice in YHWH even if the harvest fails
Study it word by word17Though the fig tree does not blossom, and there is no yield on the vines, the work of the olive lies, and the fields do not produce food, the flock is cut off from the fold, and there are no cattle in the stalls,
18yet I will exult in YHWH; I will rejoice in the Elohim of my salvation.
19YHWH Adonai is my strength, and he makes my feet like those of the deer, and on my high places he makes me walk. For the director. With my stringed instruments.
In its context
15You trod the sea with your horses, the surge of many waters.
16I heard, and my inward parts trembled; at the sound my lips quivered; rot enters into my bones, and beneath me I tremble, that I may rest on the day of distress, when the one who attacks it comes up against the people.

- יהוָהyhva· YHWH
The personal name of the God of Israel, written in Hebrew with four letters, Y-H-W-H, without vowels. Out of reverence Jews stopped pronouncing it and read "Adonai" (Lord), so many Bibles put "the LORD" or "Jehovah". This translation keeps the four letters. The name is related to the verb "to be" (Exodus 3:14-15). He is not a god other than Elohim: "YHWH Elohim" is the same Creator God, called by his name.

Leap for joy, exult.
- אָגִילָהagila· rejoice

- אלֹהֵיlohe· Elohim, God, gods
The Hebrew word usually translated "God". This translation keeps "Elohim" when it speaks of the one true God, the Creator, the God of Israel. The word ends like a plural, but it does not mean several: for him the verb is singular ("Elohim created"); the plural form expresses greatness. The same word as a common noun names the "gods" of other peoples, and there it is a true plural, translated "gods". It is also used of mighty ones or judges.
- יִשְׁעִyishi· salvation, deliverance
Salvation, deliverance; the safety and well-being of one who has been rescued. From the same root as "save."
- יְהוִהּyehvih· YHWH (with Adonai)
The four letters of God's name, YHWH (see "YHWH"). They almost always go with "Adonai"; then Jews, when reading, said "Elohim" so as not to repeat "Adonai".
- אֲדֹנָadona· Adonai, Lord
"Adonai": "my Lord", said only to God. It is a title of respect that acknowledges his authority. It is not another god besides YHWH: often it goes with his name, "Adonai YHWH", Lord YHWH.

Tread, walk, march on; also string a bow by stepping on it.
- מְנַצֵּחַmenatseach· direct, oversee
Direct: be in charge of a work or of the music of worship. From this word comes the title "for the director" of many psalms.
- נְגִינוֹתָיneginotay· song, mocking song
A song, music of stringed instruments; also the mocking song sung about someone.
