Word study
To tread, set one's foot on something; from there to walk, march, and to make someone walk a way. Treading the winepress is pressing the grapes, and treading the bow is bending it: BDB explains it because the bow was bent by setting the foot on it. It is the root of דֶּרֶךְ (way, H1870).
