John 17:17–19
Jesus prays that his disciples be made holy in the truth
Study it word by word17Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
18As you sent me into the world, I also sent them into the world.
19And for their sake I sanctify myself, so that they too may be sanctified in truth.
In its context
15I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.
16They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.
…
20But I do not ask on behalf of these only, but also on behalf of those who believe in me through their word,
21that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you sent me.
