Luke 24:1–12
The women's report seems like nonsense to the apostles, but Peter runs to see
Study it word by word1But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices that they had prepared.
2And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
3but when they went in, they did not find the body.
4And it happened, while they were perplexed about this, that look, two men stood by them in flashing clothing.
5And as they became terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living one among the dead?
6He is not here, but he has been raised. Remember how he spoke to you while he was still in Galilee,
7saying that the Son of Man must be handed over into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.”
8And they remembered his words.
9And returning from the tomb, they reported all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.
10Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who were telling these things to the apostles.
11And these words seemed to them like nonsense, and they would not believe them.
12But Peter got up and ran to the tomb; and stooping to look in, he sees the linen cloths alone; and he went away to his home, marveling at what had happened.
