Mark 7:9–13
Jesus rebukes using tradition to leave parents without help
Study it word by word9And he was saying to them, “How well you set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition!
10For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.’
11But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban” (that is, an offering)’—
12you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother,
13making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down; and many such things you do.”
In its context

8Having left the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.”
…
14And summoning the crowd again, he was saying to them, “Listen to me, all of you, and understand.
15There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him; but the things that come out of a person are what defile the person.”
