Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long on the land that YHWH your Elohim is giving you.
Exodus 20:12 - Paul repeats the commandment and also speaks to fathers
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and your mother —which is the first commandment with a promise— so that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth. And fathers, do not provoke to anger your children, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Ephesians 6:1–4 - The son is asked to listen to his father and not forsake his mother's teaching

And he was saying to them, “How well you set aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition! For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban” (that is, an offering)’— you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down; and many such things you do.”
Mark 7:9–13 - Providing for your own household is part of living the faith
But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for the members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

2Teaching the Children
- God's words are repeated to children at home and on the road
Hear, Israel: YHWH our Elohim, YHWH is one. You shall love YHWH your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These words that I am commanding you today shall be on your heart. You shall repeat them to your children and talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4–9 - When your child asks, you tell how God brought them out of Egypt
When your son asks you tomorrow, saying, “What are the testimonies, the statutes, and the rules that YHWH our Elohim has commanded you?” then you shall say to your son, “We were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, and YHWH brought us out of Egypt with a strong hand. YHWH worked signs and wonders, great and harmful, against Egypt, against Pharaoh, and against all his house, before our eyes. And us he brought out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land that he swore to our fathers. And YHWH commanded us to carry out all these statutes, to fear YHWH our Elohim, for our good all the days, to keep us alive, as it is this day. And it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to carry out all this commandment before YHWH our Elohim, as he has commanded us.”
Deuteronomy 6:20–25 - One generation tells the next what God has done
A maskil of Asaph. Give ear, my people, to my instruction; incline your ear to the sayings of my mouth. I will open my mouth with a proverb; I will pour out riddles from of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; to the generation to come we will recount the praises of YHWH, and his strength and his wonders that he has done. He established a testimony in Jacob, and an instruction he set in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to make known to their children, so that the generation to come might know, children yet to be born, who would rise up and tell their children, and put in Elohim their confidence, and not forget the works of El, and keep his commandments,

Proverbs 29:15 - God disciplines as a father does his children, and it bears fruit later
and you have forgotten the encouragement that addresses you as sons: My son, do not think lightly of the discipline of the Lord, nor lose heart when you are rebuked by him; for the Lord disciplines the one whom he loves, and he flogs every son whom he receives. It is for discipline that you endure; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom a father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, in which all have become sharers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Besides, we had the fathers of our flesh as those who disciplined us, and we respected them; shall we not much more submit to the Father of spirits and live? For they disciplined us for a few days as seemed best to them, but he does so for our good, so that we may share in his holiness. Now no discipline for the present seems to be a cause of joy, but of grief; but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Proverbs 3:11–12 - Eli rebukes his sons, but they do not listen to his voice
Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and that they were lying with the women who served at the entrance of the tent of meeting. And he said to them, “Why do you do things like these? For I hear of your evil deeds from all these people. No, my sons; for the report that I hear the people of YHWH spreading is not good. If a man sins against a man, Elohim will arbitrate for him; but if a man sins against YHWH, who will pray for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, for YHWH wanted to put them to death.
1 Samuel 2:22–25
4Children, a Gift
- Children are an inheritance and a reward from YHWH

And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth; for he will be great before the Lord, and wine and intoxicating drink he will never drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb. And many of the sons of Israel he will turn to the Lord their God. And he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers to children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

Go, please, to the flock and get me from there two good young goats, and I will make them into tasty food for your father, such as he loves. Then you will bring it to your father, and he will eat, so that he may bless you before his death.”

And it happened, when Samuel grew old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba. But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after gain, and took bribes, and perverted justice.
