Thisוְזֹאתis the commandment,הַמִּצְוָהthe statutesהַחֻקִּיםand the rulesוְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםcommandedצִוָּהme to teachלְלַמֵּדyou,אֶתְכֶםto carry outלַעֲשׂוֹתin the landבָּאָרֶץinto whichאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהyouאַתֶּםare crossingעֹבְרִיםto take possession of it,לְרִשְׁתָּהּ
so thatלְמַעַןyou may fearתִּירָאYHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָkeepingלִשְׁמֹרallאֶת כָּלhis statutesחֻקֹּתָיוand his commandmentsוּמִצְוֺתָיוthatאֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיam commanding you,מְצַוֶּךָyou,אַתָּהyour son,וּבִנְךָand your son’s son,וּבֶן בִּנְךָallכֹּלthe daysיְמֵיof your life,חַיֶּיךָand so thatוּלְמַעַןyour daysיָמֶיךָmay be long.יַאֲרִכֻן
Hear,וְשָׁמַעְתָּIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלand be carefulוְשָׁמַרְתָּto do it,לַעֲשׂוֹתso thatאֲשֶׁרit may go wellיִיטַבwith youלְךָand so thatוַאֲשֶׁרyou may multiplyתִּרְבּוּןgreatly,מְאֹדasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your fathers,אֲבֹתֶיךָhas spokenדִּבֶּרto you,לָךְin a landאֶרֶץflowingזָבַתwith milkחָלָבand honey.וּדְבָשׁ
Hear,שְׁמַעIsrael:יִשְׂרָאֵלYHWHיְהוָהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּYHWHיְהוָהis one.אֶחָד
You shall loveוְאָהַבְתָּYHWHאֵת יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwith allבְּכָלyour heartלְבָבְךָand with allוּבְכָלyour soulנַפְשְׁךָand with allוּבְכָלyour strength.מְאֹדֶךָ
TheseהָאֵלֶּהwordsהַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיam commanding youמְצַוְּךָtodayהַיּוֹםshall beוְהָיוּon your heart.עַל לְבָבֶךָ
You shall repeat themוְשִׁנַּנְתָּםto your childrenלְבָנֶיךָand talkוְדִבַּרְתָּabout themבָּםwhen you sitבְּשִׁבְתְּךָin your houseבְּבֵיתֶךָand when you walkוּבְלֶכְתְּךָby the way,בַדֶּרֶךְand when you lie downוּבְשָׁכְבְּךָand when you rise.וּבְקוּמֶךָ
You shall bind themוּקְשַׁרְתָּםas a signלְאוֹתon your hand,עַל יָדֶךָand they shall beוְהָיוּas frontletsלְטֹטָפֹתbetween your eyes.בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ
You shall write themוּכְתַבְתָּםon the doorpostsעַל מְזוּזֹתof your houseבֵּיתֶךָand on your gates.וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ
And whenוְהָיָה כִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָbrings youיְבִיאֲךָintoאֶלthe landהָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרhe sworeנִשְׁבַּעto your fathers,לַאֲבֹתֶיךָto Abraham,לְאַבְרָהָםto Isaac,לְיִצְחָקand to Jacob,וּלְיַעֲקֹבto giveלָתֶתyou—לָךְgreatגְּדֹלֹתand goodוְטֹבֹתcitiesעָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרyou did notלֹאbuild,בָנִיתָ
housesוּבָתִּיםfullמְלֵאִיםof allכָּלgood thingsטוּבthatאֲשֶׁרyou did notלֹאfill,מִלֵּאתָcisternsוּבֹרֹתdugחֲצוּבִיםthatאֲשֶׁרyou did notלֹאdig,חָצַבְתָּvineyardsכְּרָמִיםand olive treesוְזֵיתִיםthatאֲשֶׁרyou did notלֹאplant—נָטָעְתָּand you eatוְאָכַלְתָּand are satisfied,וְשָׂבָעְתָּ
guard yourselfהִשָּׁמֶר לְךָso that you do notפֶּןforgetתִּשְׁכַּחYHWH,אֶת יְהוָהwhoאֲשֶׁרbrought you outהוֹצִיאֲךָof the landמֵאֶרֶץof Egypt,מִצְרַיִםout of the houseמִבֵּיתof slaves.עֲבָדִים
YHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָyou shall fear,תִּירָאand himוְאֹתוֹyou shall serve,תַעֲבֹדand by his nameוּבִשְׁמוֹyou shall swear.תִּשָּׁבֵעַ
You shall notלֹאgoתֵלְכוּןafterאַחֲרֵיotherאֲחֵרִיםgods,אֱלֹהִיםof the godsמֵאֱלֹהֵיof the peoplesהָעַמִּיםwhoאֲשֶׁרare around you,סְבִיבוֹתֵיכֶם
forכִּיa jealousקַנָּאElאֵלis YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָin your midst,בְּקִרְבֶּךָlestפֶּןthe angerאַףof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָbe kindledיֶחֱרֶהagainst youבָּךְand he destroy youוְהִשְׁמִידְךָfromמֵעַלthe faceפְּנֵיof the ground.הָאֲדָמָה
You shall notלֹאputתְנַסּוּYHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֵיכֶםto the test,תְנַסּוּasכַּאֲשֶׁרyou put him to the testנִסִּיתֶםat Massah.בַּמַּסָּה
You shall carefully keepשָׁמוֹר תִּשְׁמְרוּןthe commandmentsאֶת מִצְוֺתof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיכֶםand his testimoniesוְעֵדֹתָיוand his statutesוְחֻקָּיוthatאֲשֶׁרhe has commanded you.צִוָּךְ
Doוְעָשִׂיתָwhat is rightהַיָּשָׁרand goodוְהַטּוֹבin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH,יְהוָהso thatלְמַעַןit may go wellיִיטַבwith you,לָךְand you may go inוּבָאתָand take possession ofוְיָרַשְׁתָּthe goodהַטֹּבָהlandאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהsworeנִשְׁבַּעto your fathers,לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ
pushingלַהֲדֹףallאֶת כָּלyour enemiesאֹיְבֶיךָfrom before you,מִפָּנֶיךָasכַּאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhas spoken.דִּבֶּר
Whenכִּיyour sonבִנְךָasks youיִשְׁאָלְךָtomorrow,מָחָרsaying,לֵאמֹר“Whatמָהare the testimonies,הָעֵדֹתthe statutes,וְהַחֻקִּיםand the rulesוְהַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהour Elohimאֱלֹהֵינוּhas commandedצִוָּהyou?”אֶתְכֶם
then you shall sayוְאָמַרְתָּto your son,לְבִנְךָ“We wereהָיִינוּslavesעֲבָדִיםof Pharaohלְפַרְעֹהin Egypt,בְּמִצְרָיִםand YHWHוַ יְהוָהbrought us outיּוֹצִיאֵנוּof Egyptמִמִּצְרַיִםwith a strongחֲזָקָהhand.בְּיָד
YHWHיְהוָהworkedוַיִּתֵּןsignsאוֹתֹתand wonders,וּמֹפְתִיםgreatגְּדֹלִיםand harmful,וְרָעִיםagainst Egypt,בְּמִצְרַיִםagainst Pharaoh,בְּפַרְעֹהand against allוּבְכָלhis house,בֵּיתוֹbefore our eyes.לְעֵינֵינוּ
And usוְאוֹתָנוּhe brought outהוֹצִיאfrom thereמִשָּׁםin order toלְמַעַןbringהָבִיאus in,אֹתָנוּto giveלָתֶתusלָנוּthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץthatאֲשֶׁרhe sworeנִשְׁבַּעto our fathers.לַאֲבֹתֵינוּ
And YHWHוַ יְהוָהcommanded usיְצַוֵּנוּto carry outלַעֲשׂוֹתallאֶת כָּלtheseהָאֵלֶּהstatutes,הַחֻקִּיםto fearלְיִרְאָהYHWHאֶת יְהוָהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּfor our goodלְטוֹב לָנוּallכָּלthe days,הַיָּמִיםto keep us alive,לְחַיֹּתֵנוּas it is thisכְּהַ הַזֶּהday.יּוֹם
And it will beוּ תִּהְיֶהrighteousnessצְדָקָהfor usלָּנוּifכִּיwe are carefulנִשְׁמֹרto carry outלַעֲשׂוֹתallאֶת כָּלthisהַזֹּאתcommandmentהַמִּצְוָהbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּasכַּאֲשֶׁרhe has commanded us.”צִוָּנוּ
