WhenכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָbrings youיְבִיאֲךָintoאֶלthe landהָאָרֶץinto whichאֲשֶׁר שָׁמָּהyouאַתָּהare goingבָאto take possession of it,לְרִשְׁתָּהּand clears awayוְנָשַׁלmanyרַבִּיםnationsגּוֹיִםfrom before youמִפָּנֶיךָ—the Hittite,הַחִתִּיthe Girgashite,וְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁיthe Amorite,וְהָאֱמֹרִיthe Canaanite,וְהַכְּנַעֲנִיthe Perizzite,וְהַפְּרִזִּיthe Hivite,וְהַחִוִּיand the Jebusite,וְהַיְבוּסִיsevenשִׁבְעָהnationsגוֹיִםmore numerousרַבִּיםand mightierוַעֲצוּמִיםthan you—מִמֶּךָּ
and YHWHוּ יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָdelivers themנְתָנָםbefore youלְפָנֶיךָand you strike them,וְהִכִּיתָםyou shall devote them completely to destruction.הַחֲרֵם תַּחֲרִים אֹתָםYou shall notלֹאmakeתִכְרֹתa covenantבְּרִיתwith themלָהֶםorוְלֹאshow them favor.תְחָנֵּם
You shall notוְלֹאintermarryתִתְחַתֵּןwith them:בָּםyour daughterבִּתְּךָyou shall notלֹאgiveתִתֵּןto his son,לִבְנוֹand his daughterוּבִתּוֹyou shall notלֹאtakeתִקַּחfor your son,לִבְנֶךָ
forכִּיhe will turn awayיָסִירyour sonאֶת בִּנְךָfrom following me,מֵאַחֲרַיand they will serveוְעָבְדוּotherאֲחֵרִיםgods;אֱלֹהִיםand the angerוְ אַףof YHWHיְהוָהwill be kindledחָרָהagainst you,בָּכֶםand he will destroy youוְהִשְׁמִידְךָquickly.מַהֵר
Butכִּי אִםthusכֹּהyou shall doתַעֲשׂוּto them:לָהֶםtheir altarsמִזְבְּחֹתֵיהֶםyou shall tear down,תִּתֹּצוּtheir standing stonesוּמַצֵּבֹתָםyou shall break,תְּשַׁבֵּרוּtheir Asherahsוַאֲשֵׁירֵהֶםyou shall cut down,תְּגַדֵּעוּןand their carved imagesוּפְסִילֵיהֶםyou shall burnתִּשְׂרְפוּןwith fire.בָּאֵשׁ
Forכִּיyouאַתָּהare a holyקָדוֹשׁpeopleעַםto YHWHלַיהוָהyour Elohim;אֱלֹהֶיךָYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָhas chosenבָּחַרyouבְּךָto beלִהְיוֹתa peopleלְעַםfor him,לוֹhis special treasure,סְגֻלָּהout of allמִכֹּלthe peoplesהָעַמִּיםthatאֲשֶׁרare onעַלthe faceפְּנֵיof the ground.הָאֲדָמָה
It was notלֹאbecause you were more numerousמֵרֻבְּכֶםthan allמִכָּלthe peoplesהָעַמִּיםthat YHWHיְהוָהset his affectionחָשַׁקon youבָּכֶםand choseוַיִּבְחַרyou,בָּכֶםforכִּיyouאַתֶּםwere the fewestהַמְעַטof allמִכָּלthe peoples;הָעַמִּים
butכִּיbecause of YHWH’s loveמֵאַהֲבַת יְהוָהfor you,אֶתְכֶםand because he keptוּמִשָּׁמְרוּthe oathאֶת הַשְּׁבֻעָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe sworeנִשְׁבַּעto your fathers,לַאֲבֹתֵיכֶםYHWHיְהוָהbrought you outהוֹצִיא אֶתְכֶםwith a strongחֲזָקָהhandבְּיָדand ransomed youוַיִּפְדְּךָfrom the houseמִבֵּיתof slaves,עֲבָדִיםfrom the handמִיַּדof Pharaohפַּרְעֹהkingמֶלֶךְof Egypt.מִצְרָיִם
KnowוְיָדַעְתָּthatכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֶיךָheהוּאis Elohim,הָאֱלֹהִיםthe faithfulהַנֶּאֱמָןEl,הָאֵלwho keepsשֹׁמֵרthe covenantהַבְּרִיתand the loyal loveוְהַחֶסֶדfor those who love himלְאֹהֲבָיוand keepוּלְשֹׁמְרֵיhis commandments,מִצְוֺתָיוto a thousandלְאֶלֶףgenerations,דּוֹר
and who repaysוּמְשַׁלֵּםthose who hate himלְשֹׂנְאָיוto their face,אֶל פָּנָיוmaking them perish;לְהַאֲבִידוֹhe will notלֹאdelayיְאַחֵרwith the one who hates him;לְשֹׂנְאוֹto his faceאֶל פָּנָיוhe will repay him.יְשַׁלֶּם לוֹ
So keepוְשָׁמַרְתָּthe commandment,אֶת הַמִּצְוָהthe statutes,וְאֶת הַחֻקִּיםand the rulesוְאֶת הַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםthatאֲשֶׁרIאָנֹכִיam commanding youמְצַוְּךָtoday,הַיּוֹםto carry them out.לַעֲשׂוֹתָם
And it will be,וְהָיָהbecauseעֵקֶבyou listen toתִּשְׁמְעוּןtheseהָאֵלֶּהrulesאֵת הַמִּשְׁפָּטִיםand keepוּשְׁמַרְתֶּםand doוַעֲשִׂיתֶםthem,אֹתָםthat YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwill keepוְשָׁמַרwith youלְךָthe covenantאֶת הַבְּרִיתand the loyal loveוְאֶת הַחֶסֶדthatאֲשֶׁרhe sworeנִשְׁבַּעto your fathers.לַאֲבֹתֶיךָ
He will love you,וַאֲהֵבְךָbless you,וּבֵרַכְךָand multiply you;וְהִרְבֶּךָhe will blessוּבֵרַךְthe fruitפְּרִיof your wombבִטְנְךָand the fruitוּפְרִיof your ground,אַדְמָתֶךָyour grain,דְּגָנְךָyour new wine,וְתִירֹשְׁךָand your oil,וְיִצְהָרֶךָthe offspringשְׁגַרof your cattleאֲלָפֶיךָand the youngוְעַשְׁתְּרֹתof your flock,צֹאנֶךָonעַלthe landהָאֲדָמָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe sworeנִשְׁבַּעto your fathersלַאֲבֹתֶיךָto giveלָתֶתyou.לָךְ
Blessedבָּרוּךְyou shall beתִּהְיֶהabove allמִכָּלthe peoples;הָעַמִּיםthere shall notלֹאbeיִהְיֶהamong youבְךָa barren manעָקָרor a barren woman,וַעֲקָרָהnor among your livestock.וּבִבְהֶמְתֶּךָ
YHWHיְהוָהwill removeוְהֵסִירfrom youמִמְּךָallכָּלsickness;חֹלִיand allוְכָלthe evilהָרָעִיםailmentsמַדְוֵיof Egyptמִצְרַיִםthatאֲשֶׁרyou know,יָדַעְתָּhe will notלֹאput themיְשִׂימָםon you,בָּךְbut he will lay themוּנְתָנָםon allבְּכָלwho hate you.שֹׂנְאֶיךָ
You shall devourוְאָכַלְתָּallאֶת כָּלthe peoplesהָעַמִּיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis givingנֹתֵןyou;לָךְyour eye shall notלֹא עֵינְךָpityתָחֹסthem,עֲלֵיהֶםand you shall notוְלֹאserveתַעֲבֹדtheir gods,אֶת אֱלֹהֵיהֶםforכִּיitהוּאwould be a snareמוֹקֵשׁto you.לָךְ
Ifכִּיyou sayתֹאמַרin your heart,בִּלְבָבְךָ“Theseהָאֵלֶּהnationsהַגּוֹיִםare more numerousרַבִּיםthan I;מִמֶּנִּיhowאֵיכָהcan Iאוּכַלdispossess them?”לְהוֹרִישָׁם
do notלֹאfearתִירָאthem;מֵהֶםremember wellזָכֹר תִּזְכֹּרwhatאֵת אֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָdidעָשָׂהto Pharaohלְפַרְעֹהand to allוּלְכָלEgypt:מִצְרָיִם
the greatהַגְּדֹלֹתtrialsהַמַּסֹּתthatאֲשֶׁרyour eyesעֵינֶיךָsaw,רָאוּthe signsוְהָאֹתֹתand the wonders,וְהַמֹּפְתִיםthe strongהַחֲזָקָהhandוְהַיָּדand the outstretchedהַנְּטוּיָהarmוְהַזְּרֹעַby whichאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָbrought you out.הוֹצִאֲךָSoכֵּןYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwill doיַעֲשֶׂהto allלְכָלthe peoplesהָעַמִּיםof whomאֲשֶׁר מִפְּנֵיהֶםyouאַתָּהare afraid.יָרֵא
MoreoverוְגַםYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwill sendיְשַׁלַּחthe hornetאֶת הַצִּרְעָהamong themבָּםuntilעַדthose who are leftהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםand those who hideוְהַנִּסְתָּרִיםfrom youמִפָּנֶיךָperish.אֲבֹד
Do notלֹאbe terrifiedתַעֲרֹץof them,מִפְּנֵיהֶםforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָis in your midst,בְּקִרְבֶּךָa greatגָּדוֹלand fearsomeוְנוֹרָאEl.אֵל
YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwill clear awayוְנָשַׁלtheseהָאֵלnationsאֶת הַגּוֹיִםfrom before youמִפָּנֶיךָlittleמְעַטby little;מְעָטyou will notלֹאbe ableתוּכַלto finish them offכַּלֹּתָםquickly,מַהֵרlestפֶּןthe animalsחַיַּתof the fieldהַשָּׂדֶהmultiplyתִּרְבֶּהagainst you.עָלֶיךָ
But YHWHוּ יְהוָהyour Elohimאֱלֹהֶיךָwill deliver themנְתָנָםbefore youלְפָנֶיךָand throw them intoוְהָמָםgreatגְדֹלָהconfusionמְהוּמָהuntilעַדthey are destroyed.הִשָּׁמְדָם
He will deliverוְנָתַןtheir kingsמַלְכֵיהֶםinto your hand,בְּיָדֶךָand you will makeוְהַאֲבַדְתָּtheir nameאֶת שְׁמָםperishהַאֲבַדְתָּfrom underמִתַּחַתthe heavens;הַשָּׁמָיִםnoלֹאmanאִישׁwill standיִתְיַצֵּבbefore youבְּפָנֶיךָuntilעַדyou have destroyedהִשְׁמִדְךָthem.אֹתָם
The carved imagesפְּסִילֵיof their godsאֱלֹהֵיהֶםyou shall burnתִּשְׂרְפוּןwith fire.בָּאֵשׁYou shall notלֹאcovetתַחְמֹדthe silverכֶּסֶףand goldוְזָהָבon themעֲלֵיהֶםorוְtake itלָקַחְתָּfor yourself,לָךְlestפֶּןyou be ensnaredתִּוָּקֵשׁby it,בּוֹforכִּיitהוּאis an abominationתוֹעֲבַתto YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim.אֱלֹהֶיךָ
And you shall notוְלֹאbringתָבִיאan abominationתוֹעֵבָהintoאֶלyour house,בֵּיתֶךָand becomeוְהָיִיתָa thing devoted to destructionחֵרֶםlike it.כָּמֹהוּYou shall utterly detest itשַׁקֵּץ תְּשַׁקְּצֶנּוּand utterly abhor it,וְתַעֵב תְּתַעֲבֶנּוּforכִּיitהוּאis a thing devoted to destruction.חֵרֶם
