Psalms 51:9–12

The one praying asks God, “A clean heart create for me”

9Hide your face from my sins, and all my iniquities blot out.

10A clean heart create for me, Elohim, and a firm spirit renew within me.

11Do not cast me away from your presence, and your holy spirit do not take from me.

12Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and let a generous spirit sustain me.

In its context

7Cleanse me from sin with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.

8Make me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you crushed be jubilant.

…

13I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you.

14Deliver me from bloodguilt, Elohim, Elohim of my salvation; my tongue will shout for joy at your righteousness.
