Romans 13:8–10

Loving the other person sums up and fulfills the whole law

8Owe no one anything except to love one another; for the one who loves the other has fulfilled the law.

9For: You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet; and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this word, namely: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

10Love works no evil to the neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

6For because of this you also pay tribute; for they are public servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing.

7Pay to all what is owed: to the one owed tribute, tribute; to the one owed tax, tax; to the one owed fear, fear; to the one owed honor, honor.

…

11And do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to rise from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we came to believe.

12The night is far gone, and the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.
