The mind of the flesh is death; the mind of the Spirit is life and peace
Study it word by word5For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
6For the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace;
In its context
3For what was impossible for the law, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did: sending his own Son in the likeness of flesh of sin and on account of sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,
4so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
…
7because the mindset of the flesh is hostility toward God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor indeed can it;
8and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
