One who separates himselfנִפְרָדseeksיְבַקֵּשׁhis own desire;לְתַאֲוָהagainst allבְּכָלsound judgmentתּוּשִׁיָּהhe breaks out.יִתְגַּלָּע
The senselessכְּסִילtakes noלֹאpleasureיַחְפֹּץin insight,בִּתְבוּנָהbut onlyכִּי אִםin revealingבְּהִתְגַּלּוֹתhis heart.לִבּוֹ
Whenבְּthe wickedרָשָׁעcomes,בוֹאcontemptבּוּזalsoגַםcomes,בָּאand withוְעִםdisgrace,קָלוֹןreproach.חֶרְפָּה
Deepעֲמֻקִּיםwatersמַיִםare the wordsדִּבְרֵיof the mouthפִיof a man;אִישׁa flowingנֹבֵעַstream,נַחַלa fountainמְקוֹרof wisdom.חָכְמָה
To favorשְׂאֵת פְּנֵיthe wickedרָשָׁעis notלֹאgood,טוֹבso as to turn asideלְהַטּוֹתthe righteousצַדִּיקin judgment.בַּמִּשְׁפָּט
The lipsשִׂפְתֵיof the senselessכְסִילenterיָבֹאוּinto a dispute,בְרִיבand his mouthוּפִיוcallsיִקְרָאfor blows.לְמַהֲלֻמוֹת
The mouthפִּיof the senselessכְסִילis ruinמְחִתָּהto him,לוֹand his lipsוּשְׂפָתָיוa snareמוֹקֵשׁto his soul.נַפְשׁוֹ
The wordsדִּבְרֵיof a grumblerנִרְגָּןare like delicious morsels,כְּמִתְלַהֲמִיםand theyוְהֵםgo downיָרְדוּinto the inner roomsחַדְרֵיof the belly.בָטֶן
Also,גַּםone who is slackמִתְרַפֶּהin his workבִמְלַאכְתּוֹis a brotherאָחheהוּאto the one who destroys.לְבַעַל מַשְׁחִית
A towerמִגְדַּלof strengthעֹזis the nameשֵׁםof YHWH;יְהוָהinto itבּוֹthe righteousצַדִּיקrunsיָרוּץand is set on high.וְנִשְׂגָּב
The wealthהוֹןof the richעָשִׁירis his strongעֻזּוֹcity,קִרְיַתand like a wallוּכְחוֹמָהset on highנִשְׂגָּבָהin his imagination.בְּמַשְׂכִּיתוֹ
Beforeלִפְנֵיa breakingשֶׁבֶרthe heartלֵבof a manאִישׁis haughty,יִגְבַּהּand beforeוְלִפְנֵיhonorכָבוֹדcomes humility.עֲנָוָה
Whoever answersמֵשִׁיבa wordדָּבָרbeforeבְּטֶרֶםhe hears,יִשְׁמָעit is follyאִוֶּלֶת הִיאto himלוֹand humiliation.וּכְלִמָּה
The spiritרוּחַof a manאִישׁwill sustainיְכַלְכֵּלhis sickness,מַחֲלֵהוּbut a crushedנְכֵאָהspirit,וְרוּחַwhoמִיcan bear it?יִשָּׂאֶנָּה
The heartלֵבof the discerningנָבוֹןacquiresיִקְנֶהknowledge,דָּעַתand the earוְאֹזֶןof the wiseחֲכָמִיםseeksתְּבַקֶּשׁknowledge.דָּעַת
A man’sאָדָםgiftמַתָּןmakes room for him,יַרְחִיב לוֹand beforeוְלִפְנֵיthe greatגְדֹלִיםit leads him.יַנְחֶנּוּ
The firstהָרִאשׁוֹןin his disputeבְּרִיבוֹseems righteous,צַדִּיקbut his neighborרֵעֵהוּcomesוּבָאand examines him.וַחֲקָרוֹ
The lotהַגּוֹרָלputs an end toיַשְׁבִּיתstrife,מִדְיָנִיםand betweenוּבֵיןthe mightyעֲצוּמִיםit decides.יַפְרִיד
A brotherאָחoffendedנִפְשָׁעis harder to win than a cityמִקִּרְיַתof strength,עֹזand strifeוּמִדְיָנִיםis like the barכִּבְרִיחַof a citadel.אַרְמוֹן
From the fruitמִפְּרִיof the mouthפִיof a manאִישׁhis bellyבִּטְנוֹwill be satisfied;תִּשְׂבַּעwith the produceתְּבוּאַתof his lipsשְׂפָתָיוhe will be satisfied.יִשְׂבָּע
Deathמָוֶתand lifeוְחַיִּיםare in the powerבְּיַדof the tongue,לָשׁוֹןand those who love itוְאֹהֲבֶיהָwill eatיֹאכַלits fruit.פִּרְיָהּ
Whoever findsמָצָאa wifeאִשָּׁהfindsמָצָאgood,טוֹבand obtainsוַיָּפֶקfavorרָצוֹןfrom YHWH.מֵיְהוָה
The poorרָשׁspeaksיְדַבֶּרpleas for mercy,תַּחֲנוּנִיםbut the richוְעָשִׁירanswersיַעֲנֶהharshly.עַזּוֹת
A manאִישׁof many companionsרֵעִיםcomes to ruin,לְהִתְרֹעֵעַbut there isוְיֵשׁa friendאֹהֵבwho sticks closerדָּבֵקthan a brother.מֵאָח
