To doעֲשֹׂהrighteousnessצְדָקָהand justiceוּמִשְׁפָּטis preferredנִבְחָרby YHWHלַיהוָהover sacrifice.מִזָּבַח
Haughtyרוּםeyesעֵינַיִםand a broadוּרְחַבheart,לֵבthe lampנִרof the wicked,רְשָׁעִיםare sin.חַטָּאת
The thoughtsמַחְשְׁבוֹתof the diligentחָרוּץlead onlyאַךְto profit,לְמוֹתָרbutוְeveryoneכָלwho hurriesאָץonlyאַךְto want.לְמַחְסוֹר
Gettingפֹּעַלtreasuresאוֹצָרוֹתwith a tongueבִּלְשׁוֹןof falsehoodשָׁקֶרis a vaporהֶבֶלdriven away;נִדָּףthey are seekersמְבַקְשֵׁיof death.מָוֶת
The devastationשֹׁדof the wickedרְשָׁעִיםwill drag them away,יְגוֹרֵםbecauseכִּיthey refuseמֵאֲנוּto doלַעֲשׂוֹתjustice.מִשְׁפָּט
Twistedהֲפַכְפַּךְis the wayדֶּרֶךְof a guiltyוָזָרman,אִישׁbutוְthe pure,זַךְuprightיָשָׁרis his work.פָּעֳלוֹ
Betterטוֹבto liveלָשֶׁבֶתon a cornerעַל פִּנַּתof the roofגָּגthan with a womanמֵאֵשֶׁתof quarrelsמִדְיָנִיםin a sharedחָבֶרhouse.וּבֵית
The soulנֶפֶשׁof the wickedרָשָׁעcravesאִוְּתָהevil;רָעhis neighborרֵעֵהוּfinds noלֹאfavorיֻחַןin his eyes.בְּעֵינָיו
When the scofferבַּ לֵץis fined,עְנָשׁthe simpleפֶּתִיbecomes wise;יֶחְכַּםand whenוּבְthe wiseלְחָכָםis instructed,הַשְׂכִּילhe receivesיִקַּחknowledge.דָּעַת
The righteousצַדִּיקconsidersמַשְׂכִּילthe houseלְבֵיתof the wicked;רָשָׁעhe overturnsמְסַלֵּףthe wickedרְשָׁעִיםto ruin.לָרָע
Whoever shutsאֹטֵםhis earאָזְנוֹto the cryמִזַּעֲקַתof the poor,דָּלhe tooגַּם הוּאwill cry outיִקְרָאand will notוְלֹאbe answered.יֵעָנֶה
A giftמַתָּןin secretבַּסֵּתֶרpacifiesיִכְפֶּהanger,אָףand a bribeוְשֹׁחַדin the bosom,בַּחֵקstrongעַזָּהwrath.חֵמָה
It is joyשִׂמְחָהfor the righteousלַצַּדִּיקto doעֲשׂוֹתjustice,מִשְׁפָּטbut ruinוּמְחִתָּהfor those who workלְפֹעֲלֵיwickedness.אָוֶן
A manאָדָםwho wandersתּוֹעֶהfrom the wayמִדֶּרֶךְof prudenceהַשְׂכֵּלwill restיָנוּחַin the assemblyבִּקְהַלof the shades.רְפָאִים
A manאִישׁof wantמַחְסוֹרis whoever lovesאֹהֵבjoy;שִׂמְחָהwhoever lovesאֹהֵבwineיַיִןand oilוָשֶׁמֶןwill notלֹאgrow rich.יַעֲשִׁיר
A ransomכֹּפֶרfor the righteousלַצַּדִּיקis the wicked,רָשָׁעand in placeוְתַחַתof the upright,יְשָׁרִיםthe treacherous.בּוֹגֵד
Betterטוֹבto liveשֶׁבֶתin a landבְּאֶרֶץof wildernessמִדְבָּרthan with a womanמֵאֵשֶׁתof quarrelsמִדְיָנִיםand vexation.וָכָעַס
Desirableנֶחְמָדtreasureאוֹצָרand oilוָשֶׁמֶןare in the dwellingבִּנְוֵהof the wise,חָכָםbutוּa senselessכְסִילmanאָדָםswallows it up.יְבַלְּעֶנּוּ
Whoever pursuesרֹדֵףrighteousnessצְדָקָהand loyal loveוָחָסֶדwill findיִמְצָאlife,חַיִּיםrighteousness,צְדָקָהand honor.וְכָבוֹד
A wise manחָכָםscalesעָלָהthe cityעִירof warriors,גִּבֹּרִיםand brings downוַיֹּרֶדthe strengthעֹזin which it trusted.מִבְטֶחָה
Whoever guardsשֹׁמֵרhis mouthפִּיוand his tongueוּלְשׁוֹנוֹguardsשֹׁמֵרhis soulנַפְשׁוֹfrom troubles.מִצָּרוֹת
Insolent,זֵדarrogant,יָהִיר“scoffer”לֵץis his name,שְׁמוֹwho actsעוֹשֶׂהwith the furyבְּעֶבְרַתof insolence.זָדוֹן
The cravingתַּאֲוַתof the sluggardעָצֵלwill kill him,תְּמִיתֶנּוּforכִּיhis handsיָדָיוrefuseמֵאֲנוּto work.לַעֲשׂוֹת
Allכָּלday longהַיּוֹםhe cravesהִתְאַוָּהwith craving,תַאֲוָהbut the righteousוְצַדִּיקgivesיִתֵּןand does notוְלֹאhold back.יַחְשֹׂךְ
The sacrificeזֶבַחof the wickedרְשָׁעִיםis an abomination;תּוֹעֵבָהhow much moreאַף כִּיwhenבְhe brings itיְבִיאֶנּוּwith infamy.זִמָּה
A witnessעֵדof liesכְּזָבִיםwill perish,יֹאבֵדbutוְa manאִישׁwho listensשׁוֹמֵעַwill speakיְדַבֵּרforever.לָנֶצַח
A wickedרָשָׁעmanאִישׁhardensהֵעֵזhis face,בְּפָנָיוbutוְthe upright,יָשָׁרheהוּאunderstandsיָבִיןhis way.דַּרְכּוֹ
There is noאֵיןwisdom,חָכְמָהand noוְאֵיןinsight,תְּבוּנָהand noוְאֵיןcounselעֵצָהagainstלְנֶגֶדYHWH.יְהוָה
The horseסוּסis made readyמוּכָןfor the dayלְיוֹםof battle,מִלְחָמָהbutוְto YHWHלַיהוָהbelongs the victory.הַתְּשׁוּעָה
