Jehoahazיוֹאָחָזwas twenty-threeשָׁלוֹשׁ וְעֶשְׂרִיםyears oldבֶּן שָׁנָהwhen he became king,בְּמָלְכוֹandוּhe reignedמָלַךְthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהmonthsחֳדָשִׁיםin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָם
The kingמֶלֶךְof Egyptמִצְרַיִםremoved himוַיְסִירֵהוּin Jerusalem,בִּירוּשָׁלִָםand imposed a fine onוַיַּעֲנֹשׁthe landאֶת הָאָרֶץof a hundredמֵאָהtalentsכִכַּרof silverכֶּסֶףand a talentוְכִכַּרof gold.זָהָב
The kingמֶלֶךְof Egyptמִצְרַיִםmade kingוַיַּמְלֵךְover Judahעַל יְהוּדָהand JerusalemוִירוּשָׁלִַםEliakimאֶת אֶלְיָקִיםhis brother,אָחִיוand changedוַיַּסֵּבhis nameאֶת שְׁמוֹto Jehoiakim;יְהוֹיָקִיםand Jehoahazוְאֶת יוֹאָחָזhis brotherאָחִיוNecoנְכוֹtookלָקַחand brought himוַיְבִיאֵהוּto Egypt.מִצְרָיְמָה
Jehoiakimיְהוֹיָקִיםwas twenty-fiveעֶשְׂרִים וְחָמֵשׁyears oldבֶּן שָׁנָהwhen he became king,בְּמָלְכוֹandוְhe reignedמָלַךְelevenאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵהyearsשָׁנָהin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָםHe didוַיַּעַשׂwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWHיְהוָהhis Elohim.אֱלֹהָיו
Against himעָלָיוNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרkingמֶלֶךְof Babylonבָּבֶלcame up,עָלָהand bound himוַיַּאַסְרֵהוּwith bronze fettersבַּנְחֻשְׁתַּיִםto carry himלְהֹלִיכוֹto Babylon.בָּבֶלָה
Nebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרbroughtוּ הֵבִיאsome of the utensilsמִכְּלֵיof the houseבֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהto Babylonלְבָבֶלand put themוַיִּתְּנֵםin his palaceבְּהֵיכָלוֹin Babylon.בְּבָבֶל
The restוְיֶתֶרof the actsדִּבְרֵיof Jehoiakim,יְהוֹיָקִיםand his abominationsוְתֹעֲבֹתָיוthatאֲשֶׁרhe did,עָשָׂהand what was foundוְהַנִּמְצָאagainst him,עָלָיוthey areהִנָּםwrittenכְּתוּבִיםin the bookעַל סֵפֶרof the kingsמַלְכֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand Judah.וִיהוּדָהAnd Jehoiachinוַ יְהוֹיָכִיןhis sonבְּנוֹreignedיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
Jehoiachinיְהוֹיָכִיןwas eightשְׁמוֹנֶהyears oldבֶּן שָׁנִיםwhen he became king,בְּמָלְכוֹandוּhe reignedמָלַךְthreeשְׁלֹשָׁהmonthsחֳדָשִׁיםand tenוַעֲשֶׂרֶתdaysיָמִיםin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָםHe didוַיַּעַשׂwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWH.יְהוָה
At the turnוְלִתְשׁוּבַתof the yearהַשָּׁנָהKingהַמֶּלֶךְNebuchadnezzarנְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרsentשָׁלַחand had him broughtוַיְבִאֵהוּto Babylon,בָבֶלָהwith the preciousחֶמְדַּתutensilsעִם כְּלֵיof the houseבֵּיתof YHWH,יְהוָהand made kingוַיַּמְלֵךְover Judahעַל יְהוּדָהand JerusalemוִירוּשָׁלִָםZedekiahאֶת צִדְקִיָּהוּhis brother.אָחִיו
Zedekiahצִדְקִיָּהוּwas twenty-oneעֶשְׂרִים וְאַחַתyears oldבֶּן שָׁנָהwhen he became king,בְמָלְכוֹandוְhe reignedמָלַךְelevenאַחַת עֶשְׂרֵהyearsשָׁנָהin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָם
He didוַיַּעַשׂwhat was evilהָרַעin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof YHWHיְהוָהhis Elohim;אֱלֹהָיוhe did notלֹאhumble himselfנִכְנַעbeforeמִלִּפְנֵיJeremiahיִרְמְיָהוּthe prophet,הַנָּבִיאwho spoke from the mouthמִפִּיof YHWH.יְהוָה
He alsoוְגַםrebelledמָרָדagainst KingבַּמֶּלֶךְNebuchadnezzar,נְבוּכַדְנֶאצַּרwhoאֲשֶׁרhad made him swearהִשְׁבִּיעוֹby Elohim;בֵּאלֹהִיםand he stiffenedוַיֶּקֶשׁhis neckאֶת עָרְפּוֹand made firmוַיְאַמֵּץhis heartאֶת לְבָבוֹagainst returningמִשּׁוּבto YHWH,אֶל יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
Alsoגַּםallכָּלthe officialsשָׂרֵיof the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִיםand the peopleוְהָעָםmultipliedהִרְבּוּacts of unfaithfulnessלִמְעָול מַעַלaccording to allכְּכֹלthe abominationsתֹּעֲבוֹתof the nations,הַגּוֹיִםand they made uncleanוַיְטַמְּאוּthe houseאֶת בֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהthatאֲשֶׁרhe had sanctifiedהִקְדִּישׁin Jerusalem.בִּירוּשָׁלִָם
YHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof their fathers,אֲבוֹתֵיהֶםsent wordוַיִּשְׁלַחto themעֲלֵיהֶםthroughבְּיַדhis messengers,מַלְאָכָיוsending them again and again,הַשְׁכֵּם וְשָׁלוֹחַforכִּיhe had compassionחָמַלon his peopleעַל עַמּוֹand on his dwelling.וְעַל מְעוֹנוֹ
But they kept mockingוַיִּהְיוּ מַלְעִבִיםthe messengersבְּמַלְאֲכֵיof Elohim,הָאֱלֹהִיםand despisingוּבוֹזִיםhis words,דְּבָרָיוand scoffingוּמִתַּעְתְּעִיםat his prophets,בִּנְבִאָיוuntilעַדthe furyחֲמַתof YHWHיְהוָהroseעֲלוֹתagainst his people,בְּעַמּוֹuntilעַדthere was noלְאֵיןremedy.מַרְפֵּא
He brought upוַיַּעַלagainst themעֲלֵיהֶםthe kingאֶת מֶלֶךְof the Chaldeans,כַּשְׂדִּיםwho killedוַיַּהֲרֹגtheir young menבַּחוּרֵיהֶםwith the swordבַּחֶרֶבin the houseבְּבֵיתof their sanctuary,מִקְדָּשָׁםand had noוְלֹאcompassionחָמַלonעַלyoung manבָּחוּרor virgin,וּבְתוּלָהold manזָקֵןor the very old;וְיָשֵׁשׁhe gaveנָתַןthem allהַכֹּלinto his hand.בְּיָדוֹ
And allוְכֹלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the houseבֵּיתof Elohim,הָאֱלֹהִיםgreatהַגְּדֹלִיםand small,וְהַקְּטַנִּיםand the treasuresוְאֹצְרוֹתof the houseבֵּיתof YHWH,יְהוָהand the treasuresוְאֹצְרוֹתof the kingהַמֶּלֶךְand of his officials,וְשָׂרָיוall thisהַכֹּלhe broughtהֵבִיאto Babylon.בָבֶל
They burnedוַיִּשְׂרְפוּthe houseאֶת בֵּיתof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםand tore downוַיְנַתְּצוּthe wallאֵת חוֹמַתof Jerusalem;יְרוּשָׁלִָםand allוְכָלits palacesאַרְמְנוֹתֶיהָthey burnedשָׂרְפוּwith fire,בָאֵשׁand allוְכָלits preciousמַחֲמַדֶּיהָobjectsכְּלֵיthey destroyed.לְהַשְׁחִית
He carried into exileוַיֶּגֶלthe remnantהַשְּׁאֵרִיתleft fromמִןthe swordהַחֶרֶבtoאֶלBabylon,בָּבֶלand they becameוַיִּהְיוּslavesלַעֲבָדִיםto himלוֹand to his sonsוּלְבָנָיוuntilעַדthe kingdomמַלְכוּתof Persiaפָּרָסcame to reign;מְלֹךְ
to fulfillלְמַלֹּאותthe wordדְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהby the mouthבְּפִיof Jeremiah,יִרְמְיָהוּuntilעַדthe landהָאָרֶץhad enjoyedרָצְתָהits Sabbaths;אֶת שַׁבְּתוֹתֶיהָallכָּלthe daysיְמֵיof its desolationהָשַּׁמָּהit ceased,שָׁבָתָהto fulfillלְמַלֹּאותseventyשִׁבְעִיםyears.שָׁנָה
In the firstוּבִ אַחַתyearשְׁנַתof Cyrusלְכוֹרֶשׁkingמֶלֶךְof Persia,פָּרַסto fulfillלִכְלוֹתthe wordדְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהby the mouthבְּפִיof Jeremiah,יִרְמְיָהוּYHWHיְהוָהstirred upהֵעִירthe spiritאֶת רוּחַof Cyrusכּוֹרֶשׁkingמֶלֶךְof Persia,פָּרַסand he sent a proclamationוַיַּעֲבֶר קוֹלthroughout allבְּכָלhis kingdom,מַלְכוּתוֹand alsoוְגַםin writing,בְּמִכְתָּבsaying,לֵאמֹר
“ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרCyrusכּוֹרֶשׁkingמֶלֶךְof Persia:פָּרַס‘Allכָּלthe kingdomsמַמְלְכוֹתof the earthהָאָרֶץYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof the heavens,הַשָּׁמַיִםhas givenנָתַןme,לִיand heוְהוּאhas chargedפָקַדmeעָלַיto buildלִבְנוֹתhimלוֹa houseבַיִתin Jerusalem,בִּירוּשָׁלִַםwhichאֲשֶׁרis in Judah.בִּיהוּדָהWhoeverמִיamong youבָכֶםis of allמִכָּלhis people,עַמּוֹmay YHWHיְהוָהhis Elohimאֱלֹהָיוbe with him,עִמּוֹand let him go up.’”וְיָעַל
