In those daysבַּיָּמִים הָהֵםHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּfell sickחָלָהto the point of death.לָמוּתAnd Isaiahוַ יְשַׁעְיָהוּsonבֶןof Amoz,אָמוֹץthe prophet,הַנָּבִיאcameיָּבֹאto himאֵלָיוand saidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,אֵלָיו“ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָה‘Give ordersצַוto your house,לְבֵיתֶךָforכִּיyou are going to dieמֵת אַתָּהand will notוְלֹאlive.’”תִחְיֶה
He turnedוַיַּסֵּבhis faceאֶת פָּנָיוtoאֶלthe wallהַקִּירand prayedוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלto YHWH,אֶל יְהוָהsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Ah,אָנָּהYHWH,יְהוָהremember,זְכָרplease,נָאhowאֵת אֲשֶׁרI have walkedהִתְהַלַּכְתִּיbefore youלְפָנֶיךָin truthבֶּאֱמֶתand with a wholeוּבְ שָׁלֵםheart,לֵבָבand have doneעָשִׂיתִיwhat is goodוְהַטּוֹבin your eyes.”בְּעֵינֶיךָAnd Hezekiahוַ חִזְקִיָּהוּweptיֵּבְךְּwith greatגָדוֹלweeping.בְּכִי
And it happened,וַיְהִיwhen Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּhad not yetלֹאgone outיָצָאof the middleהַתִּיכֹנָהcourt,חָצֵרthat the wordוּדְבַרof YHWHיְהוָהcameהָיָהto him,אֵלָיוsaying,לֵאמֹר
“Go backשׁוּבand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto Hezekiah,אֶל חִזְקִיָּהוּthe leaderנְגִידof my people,עַמִּי‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Davidדָּוִדyour father:אָבִיךָI have heardשָׁמַעְתִּיyour prayer;אֶת תְּפִלָּתֶךָI have seenרָאִיתִיyour tears.אֶת דִּמְעָתֶךָLook, Iהִנְנִיwill healרֹפֶאyou;לָךְon the third dayבַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁיyou shall go upתַּעֲלֶהto the houseבֵּיתof YHWH.יְהוָה
And I will addוְהֹסַפְתִּיto your daysעַל יָמֶיךָfifteenחֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵהyears,שָׁנָהand from the handוּמִכַּףof the kingמֶלֶךְof AssyriaאַשּׁוּרI will deliver youאַצִּילְךָand thisוְאֵת הַזֹּאתcity;הָעִירand I will protectוְגַנּוֹתִיthisהַזֹּאתcityעַל הָעִירfor my own sakeלְמַעֲנִיand for the sakeוּלְמַעַןof Davidדָּוִדmy servant.’”עַבְדִּי
Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“Takeקְחוּa cakeדְּבֶלֶתof figs.”תְּאֵנִיםThey took itוַיִּקְחוּand put itוַיָּשִׂימוּon the boil,עַל הַשְּׁחִיןand he lived.וַיֶּחִי
Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto Isaiah,אֶל יְשַׁעְיָהוּ“Whatמָהis the signאוֹתthatכִּיYHWHיְהוָהwill healיִרְפָּאmeלִיand that I will go upוְעָלִיתִיon the third dayבַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁיto the houseבֵּיתof YHWH?”יְהוָה
Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“Thisזֶהshall be to youלְּךָthe signהָאוֹתfromמֵאֵתYHWH,יְהוָהthatכִּיYHWHיְהוָהwill doיַעֲשֶׂהthe thingאֶת הַדָּבָרthatאֲשֶׁרhe has spoken:דִּבֵּרshall the shadowהַצֵּלgo forwardהָלַךְtenעֶשֶׂרsteps,מַעֲלוֹתorאִםgo backיָשׁוּבtenעֶשֶׂרsteps?”מַעֲלוֹת
Hezekiahיְחִזְקִיָּהוּsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“It is easyנָקֵלfor the shadowלַצֵּלto lengthenלִנְטוֹתtenעֶשֶׂרsteps;מַעֲלוֹתno,לֹאbutכִיlet the shadowהַצֵּלturn backיָשׁוּבtenעֶשֶׂרstepsמַעֲלוֹתbackward.”אֲחֹרַנִּית
Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּthe prophetהַנָּבִיאcried outוַיִּקְרָאto YHWH,אֶל יְהוָהand he brought backוַיָּשֶׁבthe shadowאֶת הַצֵּלon the steps,בַּמַּעֲלוֹתby whichאֲשֶׁרit had gone downיָרְדָהon the stepsבְּמַעֲלוֹתof Ahaz,אָחָזbackwardאֲחֹרַנִּיתtenעֶשֶׂרsteps.מַעֲלוֹת
At that timeבָּעֵת הַהִיאBerodach-baladanבְּרֹאדַךְ בַּלְאֲדָןsonבֶּןof Baladan,בַּלְאֲדָןkingמֶלֶךְof Babylon,בָּבֶלsentשָׁלַחlettersסְפָרִיםand a giftוּמִנְחָהto Hezekiah,אֶל חִזְקִיָּהוּforכִּיhe had heardשָׁמַעthatכִּיHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּhad been sick.חָלָה
Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּlistenedוַיִּשְׁמַעto them,עֲלֵיהֶםand showed themוַיַּרְאֵםallאֶת כָּלhis treasure house:בֵּית נְכֹתֹהthe silver,אֶת הַכֶּסֶףthe gold,וְאֶת הַזָּהָבthe spices,וְאֶת הַבְּשָׂמִיםand the fine oil,וְאֵת שֶׁמֶן הַטּוֹבand his armory,וְאֵת בֵּית כֵּלָיוand allוְאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרwas foundנִמְצָאin his treasuries;בְּאוֹצְרֹתָיוthere was notלֹא הָיָהa thingדָבָרthatאֲשֶׁרHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּdid notלֹאshow themהֶרְאָםin his houseבְּבֵיתוֹor in allוּבְכָלhis dominion.מֶמְשַׁלְתּוֹ
Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּthe prophetהַנָּבִיאcameוַיָּבֹאto Kingאֶל הַמֶּלֶךְHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּand saidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,אֵלָיו“Whatמָהdid theseהָאֵלֶּהmenהָאֲנָשִׁיםsay,אָמְרוּand from whereוּמֵאַיִןdo they comeיָבֹאוּto you?”אֵלֶיךָHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“From a distant landמֵאֶרֶץ רְחוֹקָהthey have come,בָּאוּfrom Babylon.”מִבָּבֶל
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Whatמָהhave they seenרָאוּin your house?”בְּבֵיתֶךָHezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“Allאֵת כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרis in my houseבְּבֵיתִיthey have seen;רָאוּthere is notלֹא הָיָהa thingדָבָרthatאֲשֶׁרI have notלֹאshown themהִרְאִיתִםamong my treasures.”בְּאֹצְרֹתָי
Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto Hezekiah,אֶל חִזְקִיָּהוּ“Hearשְׁמַעthe wordדְּבַרof YHWH:יְהוָה
‘Look,הִנֵּהdaysיָמִיםare comingבָּאִיםwhen allוְ כָּלthatאֲשֶׁרis in your house,בְּבֵיתֶךָand whatוַאֲשֶׁרyour fathersאֲבֹתֶיךָhave stored upאָצְרוּuntilעַדthis day,הַיּוֹם הַזֶּהwill be carriedנִשָּׂאto Babylon;בָּבֶלָהnotלֹאa thingדָּבָרwill be left,יִוָּתֵרsaysאָמַרYHWH.יְהוָה
And some of your sonsוּמִבָּנֶיךָwhoאֲשֶׁרwill come outיֵצְאוּfrom you,מִמְּךָwhomאֲשֶׁרyou will father,תּוֹלִידthey will take;יִקָּחוּand they will beוְהָיוּofficialsסָרִיסִיםin the palaceבְּהֵיכַלof the kingמֶלֶךְof Babylon.’”בָּבֶל
Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto Isaiah,אֶל יְשַׁעְיָהוּ“Goodטוֹבis the wordדְּבַרof YHWHיְהוָהthatאֲשֶׁרyou have spoken.”דִּבַּרְתָּAnd he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Is it not so,הֲלוֹאifאִםthere will beיִהְיֶהpeaceשָׁלוֹםand truthוֶאֱמֶתin my days?”בְיָמָי
The restוְיֶתֶרof the actsדִּבְרֵיof Hezekiah,חִזְקִיָּהוּand allוְכָלhis might,גְּבוּרָתוֹand howוַאֲשֶׁרhe madeעָשָׂהthe poolאֶת הַבְּרֵכָהand the conduitוְאֶת הַתְּעָלָהand broughtוַיָּבֵאthe waterאֶת הַמַּיִםinto the city,הָעִירָהare they notהֲלֹא הֵםwrittenכְּתוּבִיםin the bookעַל סֵפֶרof the chroniclesדִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִיםof the kingsלְמַלְכֵיof Judah?יְהוּדָה
Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּlay downוַיִּשְׁכַּבwith his fathers,עִם אֲבֹתָיוand Manassehוַ מְנַשֶּׁהhis sonבְנוֹreignedיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
