So the kingוַ הַמֶּלֶךְand Hamanוְהָמָןcameיָּבֹאto drinkלִשְׁתּוֹתwith Estherעִם אֶסְתֵּרthe queen.הַמַּלְכָּה
And the kingוַ הַמֶּלֶךְsaidיֹּאמֶרto Estherלְאֶסְתֵּרalsoגַּםon the secondבַּ הַשֵּׁנִיday,יּוֹםat the banquetבְּמִשְׁתֵּהof wine,הַיַּיִן“Whatמַהisyour request,שְּׁאֵלָתֵךְEstherאֶסְתֵּרthe queen?הַמַּלְכָּהIt will be givenוְתִנָּתֵןto you.לָךְAnd whatוּמַהisyour petition?בַּקָּשָׁתֵךְUp toעַדhalfחֲצִיof the kingdom,הַמַּלְכוּתand it will be done.”וְתֵעָשׂ
And Estherוַ אֶסְתֵּרthe queenהַמַּלְכָּהansweredתַּעַןand said,וַתֹּאמַר“IfאִםI have foundמָצָאתִיfavorחֵןin your eyes,בְּעֵינֶיךָO king,הַמֶּלֶךְand ifוְאִםit seems goodטוֹבtoעַלthe king,הַמֶּלֶךְlet my lifeנַפְשִׁיbe givenתִּנָּתֶןto meלִיat my request,בִּשְׁאֵלָתִיand my peopleוְעַמִּיat my petition.בְּבַקָּשָׁתִי
Forכִּיwe have been sold,נִמְכַּרְנוּIאֲנִיand my people,וְעַמִּיto destroy,לְהַשְׁמִידto kill,לַהֲרוֹגand to make perish.וּלְאַבֵּדAnd ifוְאִלּוּwe had been soldנִמְכַּרְנוּas male slavesלַעֲבָדִיםand female slaves,וְלִשְׁפָחוֹתI would have kept silent,הֶחֱרַשְׁתִּיforכִּיthe adversaryהַצָּרis notאֵיןworthשֹׁוֶהthe harmבְּנֵזֶקto the king.”הַמֶּלֶךְ
And King Ahasuerusוַ הַמֶּלֶךְ אֲחַשְׁוֵרוֹשׁsaid,יֹּאמֶרand he saidוַיֹּאמֶרto Estherלְאֶסְתֵּרthe queen,הַמַּלְכָּה“Whoמִיisהוּאthis,זֶהand whereוְאֵיisהוּאthis oneזֶהwhomאֲשֶׁר וֹhis heartלִבּוֹhas filledמְלָאto doלַעֲשׂוֹתso?”כֵּן
And Estherוַ אֶסְתֵּרsaid,תֹּאמֶר“A man,אִישׁan adversaryצַרand an enemy:וְאוֹיֵבHaman,הָמָןthisהַזֶּהevil man!”הָרָעAnd Hamanוְהָמָןwas terrifiedנִבְעַתbeforeמִלִּפְנֵיthe kingהַמֶּלֶךְand the queen.וְהַמַּלְכָּה
And the kingוְהַמֶּלֶךְroseקָםin his furyבַּחֲמָתוֹfrom the banquetמִמִּשְׁתֵּהof wineהַיַּיִןand wenttoאֶלthe gardenגִּנַּתof the palace;הַבִּיתָןand Hamanוְהָמָןstayedעָמַדto petitionלְבַקֵּשׁEstherמֵאֶסְתֵּרthe queenהַמַּלְכָּהforעַלhis life,נַפְשׁוֹforכִּיhe sawרָאָהthatכִּיevilהָרָעָהhad been determinedכָלְתָהagainst himאֵלָיוbyמֵאֵתthe king.הַמֶּלֶךְ
And the kingוְהַמֶּלֶךְreturnedשָׁבfrom the gardenמִגִּנַּתof the palaceהַבִּיתָןtoאֶלthe houseבֵּיתof the banquetמִשְׁתֵּהof wine,הַיַּיִןand Hamanוְהָמָןhad fallenנֹפֵלonעַלthe couchהַמִּטָּהon whichאֲשֶׁר עָלֶיהָEsther was.אֶסְתֵּרAnd the kingוַ הַמֶּלֶךְsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Will he evenהֲגַםsubdueלִכְבּוֹשׁthe queenהַמַּלְכָּהwith me presentעִמִּיin the house?”בַּבָּיִתThe wordהַדָּבָרwent outיָצָאof the mouthמִפִּיof the king,הַמֶּלֶךְand they coveredחָפוּHaman’sהָמָןface.וּפְנֵי
And Harbona,וַ חַרְבוֹנָהoneאֶחָדofמִןthe eunuchs,הַסָּרִיסִיםsaidיֹּאמֶרbeforeלִפְנֵיthe king,הַמֶּלֶךְ“Also,גַּםlook,הִנֵּהthe poleהָעֵץthatאֲשֶׁרHamanהָמָןmadeעָשָׂהfor Mordecai,לְמָרְדֳּכַיwhoאֲשֶׁרspokeדִּבֶּרwellטוֹבforעַלthe king,הַמֶּלֶךְis standingעֹמֵדat the houseבְּבֵיתof Haman,הָמָןfiftyחֲמִשִּׁיםcubitsאַמָּהhigh.”גָּבֹהַּAnd the kingוַ הַמֶּלֶךְsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Hang himתְּלֻהוּon it.”עָלָיו
And they hangedוַיִּתְלוּHamanהָמָןonעַלthe poleהָעֵץthatאֲשֶׁרhe had preparedהֵכִיןfor Mordecai;לְמָרְדֳּכָיand the furyוַחֲמַתof the kingהַמֶּלֶךְsubsided.שָׁכָכָה
