Mosesמֹשֶׁהansweredוַיַּעַןand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Look,וְהֵןthey will notלֹאbelieveיַאֲמִינוּmeלִיand will notוְלֹאlistenיִשְׁמְעוּto my voice,בְּקֹלִיforכִּיthey will say,יֹאמְרוּ‘YHWHיְהוָהdid notלֹאappearנִרְאָהto you.’”אֵלֶיךָ
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,אֵלָיו“Whatמַהis thatזֶּהin your hand?”בְיָדֶךָHe said,וַיֹּאמֶר“A staff.”מַטֶּה
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Throw itהַשְׁלִיכֵהוּon the ground.”אַרְצָהSo he threw itוַיַּשְׁלִיכֵהוּon the ground,אַרְצָהand it becameוַיְהִיa serpent,לְנָחָשׁand Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהfledיָּנָסfrom it.מִפָּנָיו
Then YHWHוַ יְהוָהsaidיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“Stretch outשְׁלַחyour handיָדְךָand seize itוֶאֱחֹזby its tail.”בִּזְנָבוֹSo he stretched outוַיִּשְׁלַחhis handיָדוֹand graspedוַיַּחֲזֶקit,בּוֹand it becameוַיְהִיa staffלְמַטֶּהin his hand,בְּכַפּוֹ
“so thatלְמַעַןthey may believeיַאֲמִינוּthatכִּיYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof their fathers,אֲבֹתָםthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Abraham,אַבְרָהָםthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Isaac,יִצְחָקand the Elohimוֵאלֹהֵיof Jacob,יַעֲקֹבhas appearedנִרְאָהto you.”אֵלֶיךָ
YHWHיְהוָהalsoעוֹדsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,לוֹ“Please putהָבֵא נָאyour handיָדְךָinto your bosom.”בְּחֵיקֶךָSo he putוַיָּבֵאhis handיָדוֹinto his bosom,בְּחֵיקוֹand when he took it out,וַיּוֹצִאָהּlook,וְהִנֵּהhis handיָדוֹwas leprous,מְצֹרַעַתlike snow.כַּשָּׁלֶג
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Put backהָשֵׁבyour handיָדְךָintoאֶלyour bosom.”חֵיקֶךָSo he put backוַיָּשֶׁבhis handיָדוֹintoאֶלhis bosom,חֵיקוֹand when he took it outוַיּוֹצִאָהּof his bosom,מֵחֵיקוֹlook,וְהִנֵּהit had become againשָׁבָהlike his other flesh.כִּבְשָׂרוֹ
“And it will beוְהָיָהthat ifאִםthey do notלֹאbelieveיַאֲמִינוּyouלָךְorוְlistenלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּto the voiceלְקֹלof the firstהָרִאשׁוֹןsign,הָאֹתthey will believeוְהֶאֱמִינוּthe voiceלְקֹלof the latterהָאַחֲרוֹןsign.הָאֹת
And it will beוְהָיָהthat ifאִםthey do notלֹאbelieveיַאֲמִינוּevenגַּםtheseהָאֵלֶּהtwoלִשְׁנֵיsignsהָאֹתוֹתorוְlistenלֹא יִשְׁמְעוּןto your voice,לְקֹלֶךָyou shall takeוְלָקַחְתָּsome of the waterמִמֵּימֵיof the Nileהַיְאֹרand pour itוְשָׁפַכְתָּon the dry ground,הַיַּבָּשָׁהand the waterוְ הַמַּיִםthatאֲשֶׁרyou takeתִּקַּחfromמִןthe Nileהַיְאֹרwill becomeהָיוּ וְהָיוּbloodלְדָםon the dry ground.”בַּיַּבָּשֶׁת
MosesמֹשֶׁהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלYHWH,יְהוָה“Please,בִּיAdonai,אֲדֹנָיIאָנֹכִיhave never beenלֹאa manאִישׁof words,דְּבָרִיםeitherגַּםin the pastמִתְּמוֹלorגַּםbefore thatמִשִּׁלְשֹׁםorגַּםsinceמֵאָזyou have spokenדַּבֶּרְךָtoאֶלyour servant;עַבְדֶּךָforכִּיIאָנֹכִיam slowכְבַדof mouthפֶּהand slowוּכְבַדof tongue.”לָשׁוֹן
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,אֵלָיו“Whoמִיgaveשָׂםa mouthפֶּהto a human being?לָאָדָםOrאוֹwhoמִיmakes oneיָשׂוּםmute,אִלֵּםorאוֹdeaf,חֵרֵשׁorאוֹseeing,פִקֵּחַorאוֹblind?עִוֵּרIs it notהֲלֹאI,אָנֹכִיYHWH?יְהוָה
So now,וְעַתָּהgo,לֵךְand Iוְאָנֹכִיwill beאֶהְיֶהwithעִםyour mouthפִּיךָand will teach youוְהוֹרֵיתִיךָwhatאֲשֶׁרyou shall speak.”תְּדַבֵּר
But he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Please,בִּיAdonai,אֲדֹנָיsend,שְׁלַחI pray,נָאby the handבְּיַדof whomever you will send.”תִּשְׁלָח
Then the angerאַףof YHWHיְהוָהburnedוַיִּחַרagainst Moses,בְּמֹשֶׁהand he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Is there notהֲלֹאAaron,אַהֲרֹןyour brother,אָחִיךָthe Levite?הַלֵּוִיI knowיָדַעְתִּיthatכִּיheהוּאcan surely speak.דַבֵּר יְדַבֵּרAnd look,וְ הִנֵּהheהוּאis alsoגַםcoming outיֹצֵאto meet you,לִקְרָאתֶךָand when he sees you,וְרָאֲךָhe will be gladוְשָׂמַחin his heart.בְּלִבּוֹ
You shall speakוְדִבַּרְתָּto himאֵלָיוand putוְשַׂמְתָּthe wordsאֶת הַדְּבָרִיםin his mouth;בְּפִיוand Iוְאָנֹכִיwill beאֶהְיֶהwithעִםyour mouthפִּיךָand withוְעִםhis mouth,פִּיהוּand I will teachוְהוֹרֵיתִיyouאֶתְכֶםwhatאֵת אֲשֶׁרyou shall do.תַּעֲשׂוּן
Heהוּאshall speakוְדִבֶּרfor youלְךָtoאֶלthe people;הָעָםand it will beוְהָיָהthat heהוּאwill beיִהְיֶהa mouthלְפֶהfor you,לְּךָand youוְאַתָּהwill beתִּהְיֶהto himלּוֹas Elohim.לֵאלֹהִים
And thisהַזֶּהstaffוְאֶת הַמַּטֶּהyou shall takeתִּקַּחin your hand,בְּיָדֶךָwith whichאֲשֶׁר בּוֹyou shall doתַּעֲשֶׂהthe signs.”אֶת הָאֹתֹת
Mosesמֹשֶׁהwentוַיֵּלֶךְand returnedוַיָּשָׁבtoאֶלJetherיֶתֶרhis father-in-lawחֹתְנוֹand saidוַיֹּאמֶרto him,לוֹ“Please let me goאֵלֲכָה נָּאand returnוְאָשׁוּבָהtoאֶלmy brothersאַחַיwhoאֲשֶׁרare in Egyptבְּמִצְרַיִםand seeוְאֶרְאֶהwhether they are stillהַעוֹדָםalive.”חַיִּיםAnd Jethroוַ יִתְרוֹsaidיֹּאמֶרto Moses,לְמֹשֶׁה“Goלֵךְin peace.”לְשָׁלוֹם
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMosesמֹשֶׁהin Midian,בְּמִדְיָן“Go,לֵךְreturnשֻׁבto Egypt,מִצְרָיִםforכִּיallכָּלthe menהָאֲנָשִׁיםwho were seekingהַמְבַקְשִׁיםyour lifeאֶת נַפְשֶׁךָare dead.”מֵתוּ
So Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהtookיִּקַּחhis wifeאֶת אִשְׁתּוֹand his sonsוְאֶת בָּנָיוand mounted themוַיַּרְכִּבֵםonעַלthe donkeyהַחֲמֹרand returnedוַיָּשָׁבto the landאַרְצָהof Egypt;מִצְרָיִםand Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהtookיִּקַּחthe staffאֶת מַטֵּהof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםin his hand.בְּיָדוֹ
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“When you goבְּלֶכְתְּךָbackלָשׁוּבto Egypt,מִצְרַיְמָהseeרְאֵהthat you doוַעֲשִׂיתָםbeforeלִפְנֵיPharaohפַרְעֹהallכָּלthe wondersהַמֹּפְתִיםthatאֲשֶׁרI have putשַׂמְתִּיin your hand.בְיָדֶךָBut Iוַאֲנִיwill makeאֲחַזֵּקhis heartאֶת לִבּוֹobstinate,אֲחַזֵּקand he will notוְלֹאletיְשַׁלַּחthe peopleאֶת הָעָםgo.יְשַׁלַּח
Then you shall sayוְאָמַרְתָּtoאֶלPharaoh,פַּרְעֹה‘ThusכֹּהsaysאָמַרYHWH:יְהוָהIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלis my son,בְּנִיmy firstborn,בְכֹרִי
and I saidוָאֹמַרto you,אֵלֶיךָ“Letשַׁלַּחmy sonאֶת בְּנִיgoשַׁלַּחthat he may serve me.”וְיַעַבְדֵנִיBut you refusedוַתְּמָאֵןto let him go;לְשַׁלְּחוֹlook,הִנֵּהIאָנֹכִיam going to killהֹרֵגyour son,אֶת בִּנְךָyour firstborn.’”בְּכֹרֶךָ
On the way,וַיְהִי בַדֶּרֶךְat the lodging place,בַּמָּלוֹןYHWHיְהוָהmet himוַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּand soughtוַיְבַקֵּשׁto put him to death.הֲמִיתוֹ
Then Zipporahוַ צִפֹּרָהtookתִּקַּחa flintצֹרand cut offוַתִּכְרֹתthe foreskinאֶת עָרְלַתof her sonבְּנָהּand touched itוַתַּגַּעto his feetלְרַגְלָיוand said,וַתֹּאמֶר“Surelyכִּיa bridegroomחֲתַןof bloodדָּמִיםyou areאַתָּהto me!”לִי
So he let him alone.וַיִּרֶף מִמֶּנּוּIt was thenאָזthat she said,אָמְרָה“a bridegroomחֲתַןof blood,”דָּמִיםbecause of the circumcision.לַמּוּלֹת
YHWHיְהוָהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלAaron,אַהֲרֹן“Goלֵךְto meetלִקְרַאתMosesמֹשֶׁהin the wilderness.”הַמִּדְבָּרָהSo he wentוַיֵּלֶךְand met himוַיִּפְגְּשֵׁהוּat the mountainבְּהַרof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםand kissedוַיִּשַּׁקhim.לוֹ
MosesמֹשֶׁהtoldוַיַּגֵּדAaronלְאַהֲרֹןallאֵת כָּלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof YHWHיְהוָהwith whichאֲשֶׁרhe had sent himשְׁלָחוֹand allוְאֵת כָּלthe signsהָאֹתֹתthatאֲשֶׁרhe had commanded him to do.צִוָּהוּ
Then Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהand Aaronוְאַהֲרֹןwentיֵּלֶךְand gatheredוַיַּאַסְפוּallאֶת כָּלthe eldersזִקְנֵיof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israel.יִשְׂרָאֵל
Aaronאַהֲרֹןspokeוַיְדַבֵּרallאֵת כָּלthe wordsהַדְּבָרִיםthatאֲשֶׁרYHWHיְהוָהhad spokenדִּבֶּרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁהand he didוַיַּעַשׂthe signsהָאֹתֹתin the sightלְעֵינֵיof the people.הָעָם
And the peopleהָעָםbelieved;וַיַּאֲמֵןand when they heardוַיִּשְׁמְעוּthatכִּיYHWHיְהוָהhad attendedפָקַדto the sonsאֶת בְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand thatוְכִיhe had seenרָאָהtheir affliction,אֶת עָנְיָםthey bowedוַיִּקְּדוּand worshiped.וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲוּוּ
