Mosesוּמֹשֶׁהwasהָיָהshepherdingרֹעֶהthe flockאֶת צֹאןof Jethro,יִתְרוֹhis father-in-law,חֹתְנוֹthe priestכֹּהֵןof Midian;מִדְיָןand he ledוַיִּנְהַגthe flockאֶת הַצֹּאןbeyondאַחַרthe wildernessהַמִּדְבָּרand cameוַיָּבֹאtoאֶלthe mountainהַרof Elohim,הָאֱלֹהִיםto Horeb.חֹרֵבָה
The angelמַלְאַךְof YHWHיְהֹוָהappearedוַיֵּרָאto himאֵלָיוin a flameבְּלַבַּתof fireאֵשׁfrom the midstמִתּוֹךְof the bush.הַסְּנֶהHe looked,וַיַּרְאand look,וְהִנֵּהthe bushהַסְּנֶהwas burningבֹּעֵרwith fire,בָּאֵשׁyet the bushוְהַסְּנֶהwas notאֵינֶנּוּconsumed.אֻכָּל
And Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהsaid,יֹּאמֶר“Let me turn asideאָסֻרָה נָּאand seeוְאֶרְאֶהthisהַזֶּהgreatהַגָּדֹלsight,אֶת הַמַּרְאֶהwhyמַדּוּעַthe bushהַסְּנֶהdoes notלֹאburn up.”יִבְעַר
When YHWHוַ יְהוָהsawיַּרְאthatכִּיhe had turned asideסָרto look,לִרְאוֹתElohimאֱלֹהִיםcalledוַיִּקְרָאto himאֵלָיוfrom the midstמִתּוֹךְof the bushהַסְּנֶהand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Moses,מֹשֶׁהMoses!”מֹשֶׁהAnd he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Here I am.”הִנֵּנִי
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Do notאַלcome nearתִּקְרַבhere.הֲלֹםTakeשַׁלyour sandalsנְעָלֶיךָoffמֵעַלyour feet,רַגְלֶיךָforכִּיthe placeהַמָּקוֹםon whichאֲשֶׁר עָלָיוyouאַתָּהare standingעוֹמֵדisהוּאholyקֹדֶשׁground.”אַדְמַת
And he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“I amאָנֹכִיthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your father,אָבִיךָthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Abraham,אַבְרָהָםthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Isaac,יִצְחָקand the Elohimוֵאלֹהֵיof Jacob.”יַעֲקֹבThen Mosesוַ מֹשֶׁהhidיַּסְתֵּרhis face,פָּנָיוforכִּיhe was afraidיָרֵאto lookמֵהַבִּיטatאֶלElohim.הָאֱלֹהִים
YHWHיְהוָהsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“I have surely seenרָאֹה רָאִיתִיthe afflictionאֶת עֳנִיof my peopleעַמִּיwhoאֲשֶׁרare in Egypt,בְּמִצְרָיִםand I have heardוְ שָׁמַעְתִּיtheir cryאֶת צַעֲקָתָםbecause ofמִפְּנֵיtheir taskmasters;נֹגְשָׂיוforכִּיI knowיָדַעְתִּיtheir sufferings.אֶת מַכְאֹבָיו
And I have come downוָאֵרֵדto rescue themלְהַצִּילוֹfrom the handמִיַּדof Egyptמִצְרַיִםand to bring them upוּלְהַעֲלֹתוֹout ofמִןthatהַהִואlandהָאָרֶץtoאֶלa goodטוֹבָהand broadוּרְחָבָהland,אֶרֶץtoאֶלa landאֶרֶץflowingזָבַתwith milkחָלָבand honey,וּדְבָשׁtoאֶלthe placeמְקוֹםof the Canaanite,הַכְּנַעֲנִיthe Hittite,וְהַחִתִּיthe Amorite,וְהָאֱמֹרִיthe Perizzite,וְהַפְּרִזִּיthe Hivite,וְהַחִוִּיand the Jebusite.וְהַיְבוּסִי
And now,וְעַתָּהlook,הִנֵּהthe cryצַעֲקַתof the sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלhas comeבָּאָהto me,אֵלָיand I have alsoוְגַםseenרָאִיתִיthe oppressionאֶת הַלַּחַץwith whichאֲשֶׁרthe Egyptiansמִצְרַיִםare oppressingלֹחֲצִיםthem.אֹתָם
So now,וְעַתָּהgo,לְכָהand I will send youוְאֶשְׁלָחֲךָtoאֶלPharaoh,פַּרְעֹהand bring outוְהוֹצֵאmy people,אֶת עַמִּיthe sonsבְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלfrom Egypt.”מִמִּצְרָיִם
MosesמֹשֶׁהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלElohim,הָאֱלֹהִים“Whoמִיam IאָנֹכִיthatכִּיI should goאֵלֵךְtoאֶלPharaohפַּרְעֹהand thatוְכִיI should bring outאוֹצִיאthe sonsאֶת בְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלfrom Egypt?”מִמִּצְרָיִם
He said,וַיֹּאמֶר“ButכִּיI will beאֶהְיֶהwith you,עִמָּךְand thisוְזֶהwill be the signהָאוֹתfor youלְּךָthatכִּיIאָנֹכִיhave sent you:שְׁלַחְתִּיךָwhen you have brought outבְּהוֹצִיאֲךָthe peopleאֶת הָעָםfrom Egypt,מִמִּצְרַיִםyou will serveתַּעַבְדוּןElohimאֶת הָאֱלֹהִיםonעַלthisהַזֶּהmountain.”הָהָר
MosesמֹשֶׁהsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלElohim,הָאֱלֹהִים“Look,הִנֵּהif Iאָנֹכִיcomeבָאtoאֶלthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand sayוְאָמַרְתִּיto them,לָהֶם‘The Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your fathersאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםhas sent meשְׁלָחַנִיto you,’אֲלֵיכֶםand they sayוְאָמְרוּto me,לִי‘Whatמַהis his name?’שְּׁמוֹwhatמָהshall I sayאֹמַרto them?”אֲלֵהֶם
ElohimאֱלֹהִיםsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“I will beאֶהְיֶהwhoאֲשֶׁרI will be.”אֶהְיֶהAnd he said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Thusכֹּהyou shall sayתֹאמַרto the sonsלִבְנֵיof Israel:יִשְׂרָאֵל‘Ehyehאֶהְיֶהhas sent meשְׁלָחַנִיto you.’”אֲלֵיכֶם
ElohimאֱלֹהִיםalsoעוֹדsaidוַיֹּאמֶרtoאֶלMoses,מֹשֶׁה“Thusכֹּהyou shall sayתֹאמַרtoאֶלthe sonsבְּנֵיof Israel:יִשְׂרָאֵל‘YHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your fathers,אֲבֹתֵיכֶםthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Abraham,אַבְרָהָםthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Isaac,יִצְחָקand the Elohimוֵאלֹהֵיof Jacob,יַעֲקֹבhas sent meשְׁלָחַנִיto you.’אֲלֵיכֶםThisזֶהis my nameשְּׁמִיforever,לְעֹלָםand thisוְזֶהis my remembranceזִכְרִיfrom generationלְדֹרto generation.דֹּר
Goלֵךְand gatherוְאָסַפְתָּthe eldersאֶת זִקְנֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלand sayוְאָמַרְתָּto them,אֲלֵהֶם‘YHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof your fathers,אֲבֹתֵיכֶםhas appearedנִרְאָהto me,אֵלַיthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Abraham,אַבְרָהָםIsaac,יִצְחָקand Jacob,וְיַעֲקֹבsaying,לֵאמֹר“I have surely attendedפָּקֹד פָּקַדְתִּיto youאֶתְכֶםand toוְאֶתwhatהֶhas been doneעָשׂוּיto youלָכֶםin Egypt,בְּמִצְרָיִם
and I have said:וָאֹמַרI will bringאַעֲלֶהyouאֶתְכֶםup out ofמֵthe afflictionעֳנִיof Egyptמִצְרַיִםtoאֶלthe landאֶרֶץof the Canaanite,הַכְּנַעֲנִיthe Hittite,וְהַחִתִּיthe Amorite,וְהָאֱמֹרִיthe Perizzite,וְהַפְּרִזִּיthe Hivite,וְהַחִוִּיand the Jebusite,וְהַיְבוּסִיtoאֶלa landאֶרֶץflowingזָבַתwith milkחָלָבand honey.”’וּדְבָשׁ
They will listenוְשָׁמְעוּto your voice;לְקֹלֶךָand youוּ אַתָּהshall come,בָאתָyou and the eldersוְזִקְנֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלtoאֶלthe kingמֶלֶךְof Egyptמִצְרַיִםand sayוַאֲמַרְתֶּםto him,אֵלָיו‘YHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof the Hebrews,הָעִבְרִיִּיםhas metנִקְרָהwith us.עָלֵינוּAnd now,וְעַתָּהplease let us goנֵלֲכָה נָּאa journeyדֶּרֶךְof threeשְׁלֹשֶׁתdaysיָמִיםinto the wilderness,בַּמִּדְבָּרthat we may sacrificeוְנִזְבְּחָהto YHWHלַיהוָהour Elohim.’אֱלֹהֵינוּ
But Iוַאֲנִיknowיָדַעְתִּיthatכִּיthe kingמֶלֶךְof Egyptמִצְרַיִםwill notלֹאletיִתֵּןyouאֶתְכֶםgo,לַהֲלֹךְand notוְלֹאbyבְּa strongחֲזָקָהhand.יָד
So I will stretch outוְשָׁלַחְתִּיmy handאֶת יָדִיand strikeוְהִכֵּיתִיEgyptאֶת מִצְרַיִםwith allבְּכֹלmy marvelsנִפְלְאֹתַיthatאֲשֶׁרI will doאֶעֱשֶׂהin its midst;בְּקִרְבּוֹand afterוְאַחֲרֵיthatכֵןhe will letיְשַׁלַּחyouאֶתְכֶםgo.יְשַׁלַּח
And I will giveוְנָתַתִּיthisהַזֶּהpeopleאֶת הָעָםfavorחֵןin the eyesבְּעֵינֵיof the Egyptians,מִצְרָיִםand it will beוְהָיָהthat whenכִּיyou go,תֵלֵכוּןyou will notלֹאgoתֵלְכוּempty-handed.רֵיקָם
Each womanוְ אִשָּׁהshall askשָׁאֲלָהof her neighborמִשְּׁכֶנְתָּהּand of the woman who residesוּמִגָּרַתin her houseבֵּיתָהּarticlesכְּלֵיof silverכֶסֶףand articlesוּכְלֵיof gold,זָהָבand clothing,וּשְׂמָלֹתand you shall put themוְשַׂמְתֶּםonעַלyour sonsבְּנֵיכֶםand onוְעַלyour daughters;בְּנֹתֵיכֶםand so you shall plunderוְנִצַּלְתֶּםthe Egyptians.”אֶת מִצְרָיִם
