Jericho
Today: Jericho (Ariha), West Bank
A city in the Jordan valley, about 15 miles (25 km) northeast of Jerusalem and not far from the river.
It was the first city Israel took in Canaan; its walls fell (Josh 6:20). Centuries later Jesus passed through Jericho and saved Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10).
The context
12The manna ceased on the day after, when they ate of the produce of the land; and there was no longer manna for the sons of Israel, but they ate of the harvest of the land of Canaan that year.
