Translation note· on the manuscripts
The Hebrew text writes “Manasseh” with one letter (the n) suspended above the line; without that letter it reads “Moses,” who had a son named Gershom (Exodus 2:22). It is a fact of the manuscript; here it is left as written.

Dan
Today: Tel Dan nature reserve, northern Israel
A city at the far north of Israel, at the foot of Mount Hermon.

The context
29And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel; but Laish was the name of the city formerly.
