Go to Hebrews 9:12

Hebrews contrasts the blood of the bull and the goat that, in Leviticus 16:14-15, the high priest brought behind the veil with the Messiah’s own blood.

The biblical author himself makes the connection, in these words:

οὐδὲ δι’ αἵματος τράγων καὶ μόσχων διὰ δὲ τοῦ ἰδίου αἵματος εἰσῆλθεν ἐφάπαξ εἰς τὰ ἅγια “not through the blood of goats and calves, but through his own blood, he entered once for all into the Holy Place” (Hebrews 9:12)

Theme · Romans 3:25

Go to Romans 3:25

Romans 3:25 uses hilastērion, the same word that Hebrews 9:5 uses for the cover of expiation (kapporet), on which the blood was sprinkled in Leviticus 16:14.

The same term appears in both passages.
