Luke 24:13-35

13And look, two of them on that very day were going to a village sixty stadia away from Jerusalem, whose name was Emmaus; 14and they were talking with each other about all these things that had happened. 15And it happened, while they were talking and discussing, that Jesus himself drew near and was walking with them; 16but their eyes were held so as not to recognize him. 17And he said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as you walk?” And they stood still, looking sad. 18And one of them, named Cleopas, answered and said to him, “Are you the only one staying as a visitor in Jerusalem and you do not know the things that have happened in it in these days?” 19And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a man, a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, 20and how our high priests and rulers handed him over to a sentence of death and crucified him. 21But we were hoping that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, along with all these things, this is the third day since these things happened. 22But also some women from among us amazed us; they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23and when they did not find his body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who say that he is alive. 24And some of those with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women also had said; but him they did not see.” 25And he said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26Was it not necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?” 27And beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures. 28And they drew near to the village where they were going, and he acted as though he were going farther. 29And they urged him, saying, “Stay with us, because it is toward evening and the day is already far spent.” And he went in to stay with them. 30And it happened, when he reclined at table with them, that taking the bread, he blessed it, and breaking it, he began giving it to them. 31And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from them. 32And they said to one another, “Was not our heart burning within us while he was speaking to us on the road, while he was opening to us the Scriptures?” 33And rising that very hour, they returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven gathered together, and those with them, 34saying, “The Lord has really been raised and has appeared to Simon!” 35And they were relating the things on the road, and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Mark 16:12-13

12After these things he appeared in another form to two of them as they were walking, going into the country. 13And they went away and reported it to the rest; they did not believe them either.
