Andδὲthey beganἤρξαντοto accuseκατηγορεῖνhim,αὐτοῦsaying,λέγοντες“We foundεὕραμενthis manΤοῦτονpervertingδιαστρέφονταourἡμῶνnationτὸ ἔθνοςandκαὶforbiddingκωλύονταpeople to giveδιδόναιtributeφόρουςto Caesar,Καίσαριandκαὶsayingλέγονταthat he himselfαὑτὸνisεἶναιMessiah,χριστὸνa king.”βασιλέα
AndδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςaskedἠρώτησενhim,αὐτὸνsaying,λέγων“Are youΣὺ εἶthe Kingὁ βασιλεὺςof the Jews?”τῶν ἸουδαίωνAndδὲheὁansweredἀποκριθεὶςhimαὐτῷand said,ἔφη“YouΣὺsay so.”λέγεις
AndδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςsaidεἶπενtoπρὸςthe high priestsτοὺς ἀρχιερεῖςandκαὶthe crowds,τοὺς ὄχλους“I findεὑρίσκωnoΟὐδὲνguiltαἴτιονinἐνthisτούτῳman.”τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ
Butδὲtheyοἱkept insisting,ἐπίσχυονsaying,λέγοντες“He stirs upἈνασείειthe people,τὸν λαὸνteachingδιδάσκωνthroughoutκαθ’allὅληςJudea,τῆς ἸουδαίαςandκαὶbeginningἀρξάμενοςfromἀπὸGalileeτῆς Γαλιλαίαςas far asἕωςhere.”ὧδε
AndδὲwhenἀκούσαςPilateΠιλᾶτοςheard this,ἀκούσαςhe askedἐπηρώτησενwhetherεἰthe manὁ ἄνθρωποςwasἐστινa Galilean.Γαλιλαῖός
Andκαὶlearningἐπιγνοὺςthatὅτιhe wasἐστὶνfromἐκHerod’sἩρῴδουjurisdiction,τῆς ἐξουσίαςhe sentἀνέπεμψενhimαὐτὸνupἀνέπεμψενtoπρὸςHerod,Ἡρῴδηνwho wasὄνταhimselfαὐτὸνalsoκαὶinἐνJerusalemἹεροσολύμοιςinἐνthoseταύταιςdays.ταῖς ἡμέραις
AndδὲwhenἰδὼνHerodὁ ἩρῴδηςsawἰδὼνJesusτὸν Ἰησοῦνhe was veryλίανglad,ἐχάρηforγὰρhe had beenἦνwantingθέλωνto seeἰδεῖνhimαὐτὸνforἐξa longἱκανῶνtime,χρόνωνbecauseδιὰ τὸhe had heardἀκούεινaboutπερὶhim,αὐτοῦandκαὶhe was hopingἤλπιζένto seeἰδεῖνsomeτιsignσημεῖονdoneγινόμενονbyὑπ’him.αὐτοῦ
Andδὲhe questionedἐπηρώταhimαὐτὸνwithἐνmanyἱκανοῖςwords,λόγοιςbutδὲheαὐτὸςansweredἀπεκρίνατοhimαὐτῷnothing.οὐδὲν
Andδὲthe high priestsοἱ ἀρχιερεῖςandκαὶthe scribesοἱ γραμματεῖςstood thereεἱστήκεισανvehementlyεὐτόνωςaccusingκατηγοροῦντεςhim.αὐτοῦ
AndδὲHerodὁ Ἡρῴδηςalso,καὶwithσὺνhisαὐτοῦsoldiers,τοῖς στρατεύμασινtreatedἐξουθενήσαςhimαὐτὸνwith contemptἐξουθενήσαςandκαὶmocked him;ἐμπαίξαςand puttingπεριβαλὼνsplendidλαμπρὰνclothingἐσθῆταon him,περιβαλὼνhe sentἀνέπεμψενhimαὐτὸνbackἀνέπεμψενto Pilate.τῷ Πιλάτῳ
AndδὲHerodὅ ἩρῴδηςandκαὶPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςbecameἐγένοντοfriendsφίλοιwithμετ’each otherἀλλήλωνthat veryαὐτῇday,ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳforγὰρthey had previously beenπροϋπῆρχον ὄντεςatἐνenmityἔχθρᾳwithπρὸςeach other.αὑτούς
AndδὲPilateΠιλᾶτοςcalled togetherσυγκαλεσάμενοςthe high priestsτοὺς ἀρχιερεῖςandκαὶthe rulersτοὺς ἄρχονταςandκαὶthe peopleτὸν λαὸν
and saidεἶπενtoπρὸςthem,αὐτούς“You broughtΠροσηνέγκατέmeμοιthisτοῦτονmanτὸν ἄνθρωπονas one whoὡςis misleadingἀποστρέφονταthe people;τὸν λαόνandκαὶlook,ἰδοὺI,ἐγὼhaving examined himἀνακρίναςbeforeἐνώπιονyou,ὑμῶνhave foundεὗρονnoοὐθὲνguiltαἴτιονinἐνthisτούτῳmanτῷ ἀνθρώπῳin the things of whichὧνyou accuseκατηγορεῖτεhim;κατ’ αὐτοῦ
no,ἀλλ’norοὐδὲhas Herod,Ἡρῴδηςforγὰρhe sentἀνέπεμψενhimαὐτὸνbackἀνέπεμψενtoπρὸςus;ἡμᾶςandκαὶlook,ἰδοὺnothingοὐδὲνworthyἄξιονof deathθανάτουhas beenἐστὶνdoneπεπραγμένονby him.αὐτῷ
Soοὖνafter punishingπαιδεύσαςhimαὐτὸνI will release him.”ἀπολύσω
Now he was obliged to release one to them at each feast.
Butδὲthey cried outἈνέκραγονall together,παμπληθεὶsaying,λέγοντες“Away withΑἶρεthis man,τοῦτονandδὲreleaseἀπόλυσονto usἡμῖνBarabbas!”τὸν Βαραββᾶν
(one whoὅστιςhad beenἦνthrownβληθεὶςintoἐνprisonτῇ φυλακῇbecause ofδιὰa certainτινὰuprisingστάσινthat had happenedγενομένηνinἐνthe city,τῇ πόλειandκαὶfor murder.)φόνον
ButδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςaddressed themπροσεφώνησενagain,πάλινwantingθέλωνto releaseἀπολῦσαιJesus;τὸν Ἰησοῦν
butδὲtheyοἱkept shouting,ἐπεφώνουνsaying,λέγοντες“Crucify,Σταύρουcrucifyσταύρουhim!”αὐτόν
Andδὲheὁsaidεἶπενtoπρὸςthemαὐτούςa third time,τρίτον“Why,γὰρwhatΤίevilκακὸνhas this manοὗτοςdone?ἐποίησενI have foundεὗρονnoοὐδὲνguiltαἴτιονdeserving deathθανάτουinἐνhim;αὐτῷsoοὖνafter punishingπαιδεύσαςhimαὐτὸνI will release him.”ἀπολύσω
Butδὲtheyοἱwere insistentἐπέκειντοwith loudμεγάλαιςvoices,φωναῖςaskingαἰτούμενοιfor himαὐτὸνto be crucified;σταυρωθῆναιandκαὶtheirαὐτῶνvoicesαἱ φωναὶwere prevailing.κατίσχυον
AndκαὶPilateΠιλᾶτοςdecidedἐπέκρινενthat theirαὐτῶνdemandτὸ αἴτημαshould be granted;γενέσθαι
andδὲhe releasedἀπέλυσενthe oneτὸνwho had been thrownβεβλημένονintoεἰςprisonφυλακὴνforδιὰuprisingστάσινandκαὶmurder,φόνονwhomὃνthey were asking for,ᾐτοῦντοbutδὲJesusτὸν Ἰησοῦνhe handed overπαρέδωκενto theirτῷ αὐτῶνwill.θελήματι
AndΚαὶasὡςthey ledἀπήγαγονhimαὐτόνaway,ἀπήγαγονthey seizedἐπιλαβόμενοιa certainτιναSimon,Σίμωνάa Cyrenian,Κυρηναῖονcomingἐρχόμενονfromἀπ’the country,ἀγροῦand putἐπέθηκανthe crossτὸν σταυρὸνon himαὐτῷto carry itφέρεινbehindὄπισθενJesus.τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
Andδὲthere followedἨκολούθειhimαὐτῷa greatπολὺmultitudeπλῆθοςof the peopleτοῦ λαοῦandκαὶof womenγυναικῶνwhoαἳwere mourningἐκόπτοντοandκαὶlamentingἐθρήνουνhim.αὐτόν
ButδὲJesus,ὁ Ἰησοῦςturningστραφεὶςtoπρὸςthem,αὐτὰςsaid,εἶπεν“DaughtersΘυγατέρεςof Jerusalem,Ἰερουσαλήμdo notμὴweepκλαίετεforἐπ’me,ἐμέbutπλὴνweepκλαίετεforἐφ’yourselvesἑαυτὰςandκαὶforἐπὶyourὑμῶνchildren,τὰ τέκνα
forὅτιlook,ἰδοὺdaysἡμέραιare comingἔρχονταιinἐνwhichαἷςthey will say,ἐροῦσιν‘Happy areΜακάριαιthe barrenαἱ στεῖραιandκαὶthe wombsαἱ κοιλίαιthatαἳdid notοὐκbear,ἐγέννησανandκαὶthe breastsμαστοὶthatοἳdid notοὐκnurse!’ἔθρεψαν
Thenτότεthey will beginἄρξονταιto sayλέγεινto the mountains,τοῖς ὄρεσιν‘FallΠέσετεonἐφ’us,’ἡμᾶςandκαὶto the hills,τοῖς βουνοῖς‘CoverΚαλύψατεus.’ἡμᾶς
Forὅτιifεἰinἐνthe greenτῷ ὑγρῷtreeξύλῳthey doποιοῦσινthese things,ταῦταwhatτίwill happenγένηταιinἐνthe dry?”τῷ ξηρῷ
Andδὲtwoδύοothers,ἕτεροιcriminals,κακοῦργοιwere alsoκαὶbeing ledἬγοντοwithσὺνhimαὐτῷto be put to death.ἀναιρεθῆναι
Andκαὶwhenὅτεthey cameἦλθονtoἐπὶthe placeτὸν τόπονthatτὸνis calledκαλούμενονThe Skull,Κρανίονthereἐκεῖthey crucifiedἐσταύρωσανhimαὐτὸνandκαὶthe criminals,τοὺς κακούργουςoneὃν μὲνonἐκthe rightδεξιῶνandδὲoneὃνonἐξthe left.ἀριστερῶν
AndδὲJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςwas saying,ἔλεγεν“Father,Πάτερforgiveἄφεςthem,αὐτοῖςforγὰρthey do notοὐknowοἴδασινwhatτίthey are doing.”ποιοῦσινAndδὲdividingδιαμεριζόμενοιhisαὐτοῦgarments,τὰ ἱμάτιαthey castἔβαλονlots.κλήρους
Andκαὶthe peopleὁ λαὸςstoodεἱστήκειwatching.θεωρῶνAndδὲthe rulersοἱ ἄρχοντεςalsoκαὶwere sneering,ἐξεμυκτήριζονsaying,λέγοντες“He savedἔσωσενothers;Ἄλλουςlet him saveσωσάτωhimself,ἑαυτόνifεἰthis manοὗτόςisἐστινthe Messiahὁ χριστὸςof God,τοῦ θεοῦthe Chosen One!”ὁ ἐκλεκτός
Andδὲthe soldiersοἱ στρατιῶταιalsoκαὶmockedἐνέπαιξανhim,αὐτῷcoming upπροσερχόμενοιand offeringπροσφέροντεςhimαὐτῷsour wineὄξος
andκαὶsaying,λέγοντες“IfΕἰyouσὺareεἶthe Kingὁ βασιλεὺςof the Jews,τῶν Ἰουδαίωνsaveσῶσονyourself!”σεαυτόν
Andδὲthere wasἦνalsoκαὶan inscriptionἐπιγραφὴoverἐπ’him:αὐτῷ“Thisοὗτοςisthe KingὉ βασιλεὺςof the Jews.”τῶν Ἰουδαίων
AndδὲoneΕἷςof the criminalsτῶν κακούργωνwho were hanging thereκρεμασθέντωνwas blasphemingἐβλασφήμειhim,αὐτόνsaying,λέγων“Are you notΟὐχὶ σὺ εἶthe Messiah?ὁ χριστόςSaveσῶσονyourselfσεαυτὸνandκαὶus!”ἡμᾶς
Butδὲthe otherὁ ἕτεροςanswered,ἀποκριθεὶςand rebukingἐπιτιμῶνhimαὐτῷsaid,ἔφη“Do you not evenΟὐδὲ σὺfearφοβῇGod,τὸν θεόνsinceὅτιyou areεἶunderἐνthe sameτῷ αὐτῷcondemnation?κρίματι
Andκαὶweἡμεῖςindeedμὲνare here justly,δικαίωςforγὰρwe are receiving backἀπολαμβάνομενwhat is dueἄξιαfor whatὧνwe did;ἐπράξαμενbutδὲthis manοὗτοςhas doneἔπραξενnothingοὐδὲνwrong.”ἄτοπον
Andκαὶhe was saying,ἔλεγεν“Jesus,Ἰησοῦrememberμνήσθητίmeμουwhenὅτανyou comeἔλθῃςinἐνyourσουkingdom.”τῇ βασιλείᾳ
Andκαὶhe saidεἶπενto him,αὐτῷ“TrulyἈμήνI tellλέγωyou,σοιtodayσήμερονyou will beἔσῃwithμετ’meἐμοῦinἐνparadise.”τῷ παραδείσῳ
AndΚαὶit wasἦνalreadyἤδηaboutὡσεὶthe sixthἕκτηhour,ὥραandκαὶdarknessσκότοςcameἐγένετοoverἐφ’the wholeὅληνlandτὴν γῆνuntilἕωςthe ninthἐνάτηςhour,ὥρας
the sunτοῦ ἡλίουhaving failed;ἐκλιπόντοςandδὲthe curtainτὸ καταπέτασμαof the sanctuaryτοῦ ναοῦwas tornἐσχίσθηdown the middle.μέσον
Andκαὶcrying outφωνήσαςwith a loudμεγάλῃvoice,φωνῇJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςsaid,εἶπεν“Father,ΠάτερintoεἰςyourσουhandsχεῖράςI commitπαρατίθεμαιmyμουspirit!”τὸ πνεῦμάAndδὲhaving saidεἰπὼνthis,τοῦτοhe breathed his last.ἐξέπνευσεν
Andδὲthe centurion,ὁ ἑκατοντάρχηςseeingἸδὼνwhatτὸhad happened,γενόμενονwas glorifyingἐδόξαζενGod,τὸν θεὸνsaying,λέγων“CertainlyὌντωςthisοὗτοςmanὁ ἄνθρωποςwasἦνrighteous.”δίκαιος
Andκαὶallπάντεςthe crowdsοἱ ὄχλοιwho had gatheredσυμπαραγενόμενοιforἐπὶthisταύτηνspectacle,τὴν θεωρίανhaving seenθεωρήσαντεςwhatτὰhad happened,γενόμεναreturned homeὑπέστρεφονbeatingτύπτοντεςtheir breasts.τὰ στήθη
Andδὲallπάντεςhisαὐτῷacquaintancesοἱ γνωστοὶstoodεἱστήκεισανat a distance,μακρόθενandκαὶthe womenγυναῖκεςwhoαἱhad followedσυνακολουθοῦσαιhimαὐτῷfromἀπὸGalilee,τῆς Γαλιλαίαςseeingὁρῶσαιthese things.ταῦτα
AndΚαὶlook,ἰδοὺthere wasa manἀνὴρnamedὀνόματιJoseph,Ἰωσὴφwho wasὑπάρχωνa member of the council,βουλευτὴςa goodἀγαθὸςandκαὶrighteousδίκαιοςmanἀνὴρ
(this oneοὗτοςhad notοὐκconsentedἦν συγκατατεθειμένοςto theirτῇ αὐτῶνdecisionβουλῇandκαὶaction),τῇ πράξειfromἀπὸArimathea,Ἁριμαθαίαςa cityπόλεωςof the Jews,τῶν Ἰουδαίωνwhoὃςwas waiting forπροσεδέχετοthe kingdomτὴν βασιλείανof God.τοῦ θεοῦ
This manοὗτοςwentπροσελθὼνto Pilateτῷ Πιλάτῳand asked forᾐτήσατοthe bodyτὸ σῶμαof Jesus.τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
Andκαὶtaking it down,καθελὼνhe wrappedἐνετύλιξενitαὐτὸin a linen clothσινδόνιandκαὶlaidἔθηκενhimαὐτὸνinἐνa tombμνήματιcut in the rock,λαξευτῷwhereοὗno oneοὐκ οὐδεὶςhad yetοὔπωbeenἦνlaid.κείμενος
Andκαὶit wasἦνthe dayἡμέραof Preparation,παρασκευῆςandκαὶthe Sabbathσάββατονwas beginning.ἐπέφωσκεν
Andδὲthe womenαἱ γυναῖκεςwhoαἵτινεςhad comeἦσαν συνεληλυθυῖαιwith himαὐτῷfromἐκGalileeτῆς Γαλιλαίαςfollowedκατακολουθήσασαιand sawἐθεάσαντοthe tombτὸ μνημεῖονandκαὶhowὡςhisαὐτοῦbodyτὸ σῶμαwas laid.ἐτέθη
Andδὲthey returnedὑποστρέψασαιand preparedἡτοίμασανspicesἀρώματαandκαὶointments.μύραAndΚαὶon the Sabbathτὸ σάββατονthey restedἡσύχασανaccording toκατὰthe commandment.τὴν ἐντολήν
