AndΚαὶat once,εὐθὺςearly in the morning,πρωῒthe high priests,οἱ ἀρχιερεῖςhaving heldποιήσαντεςa councilσυμβούλιονwithμετὰthe eldersτῶν πρεσβυτέρωνandκαὶscribesγραμματέωνandκαὶthe wholeὅλονcouncil,τὸ συνέδριονboundδήσαντεςJesus,τὸν Ἰησοῦνled him away,ἀπήνεγκανandκαὶhanded him overπαρέδωκανto Pilate.Πιλάτῳ
AndκαὶPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςquestionedἐπηρώτησενhim,αὐτὸν“Are youΣὺ εἶthe Kingὁ βασιλεὺςof the Jews?”τῶν ἸουδαίωνAndδὲheὁanswersἀποκριθεὶςhim,αὐτῷsaying,λέγει“YouΣὺsay so.”λέγεις
Andκαὶthe high priestsοἱ ἀρχιερεῖςwere accusingκατηγόρουνhimαὐτοῦof many things.πολλά
AndδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςagainπάλινwas questioningἐπηρώταhim,αὐτὸνsaying,λέγων“Do you notΟὐκanswerἀποκρίνῃanything?οὐδένSeeἴδεhow many thingsπόσαthey are accusingκατηγοροῦσινyou of.”σου
ButδὲJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςno longerοὐκέτιansweredἀπεκρίθηanything,οὐδὲνso thatὥστεPilateτὸν Πιλᾶτονwas amazed.θαυμάζειν
NowδὲatΚατὰthe feastἑορτὴνhe used to releaseἀπέλυενfor themαὐτοῖςoneἕναprisoner,δέσμιονwhomeverὃνthey asked for.παρῃτοῦντο
Andδὲthere wasἦνthe mancalledὁ λεγόμενοςBarabbas,Βαραββᾶςboundδεδεμένοςwithμετὰthe rebelsτῶν στασιαστῶνwhoοἵτινεςinἐνthe uprisingτῇ στάσειhad committedπεποιήκεισανmurder.φόνον
Andκαὶthe crowdὁ ὄχλοςcame upἀναβὰςand beganἤρξατοto askαἰτεῖσθαιhim to doasκαθὼςhe used to doἐποίειfor them.αὐτοῖς
AndδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςansweredἀπεκρίθηthem,αὐτοῖςsaying,λέγων“Do you wantΘέλετεme to releaseἀπολύσωfor youὑμῖνthe Kingτὸν βασιλέαof the Jews?”τῶν Ἰουδαίων
Forγὰρhe knewἐγίνωσκενthatὅτιit was because ofδιὰenvyφθόνονthatthe high priestsοἱ ἀρχιερεῖςhad handedπαραδεδώκεισανhimαὐτὸνover.παραδεδώκεισαν
Butδὲthe high priestsοἱ ἀρχιερεῖςstirred upἀνέσεισανthe crowdτὸν ὄχλονso thatἵναhe would releaseἀπολύσῃfor themαὐτοῖςBarabbasτὸν Βαραββᾶνinstead.μᾶλλον
AndδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςagainπάλινansweredἀποκριθεὶςand was sayingἔλεγενto them,αὐτοῖς“WhatΤίthenοὖνdo you wantθέλετεme to doποιήσωwith the onewhomὃνyou callλέγετεthe Kingτὸν βασιλέαof the Jews?”τῶν Ἰουδαίων
Andδὲtheyοἱcried outἔκραξανagain,πάλιν“CrucifyΣταύρωσονhim!”αὐτόν
ButδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςwas sayingἔλεγενto them,αὐτοῖς“Why,Τί γὰρwhatΤίevilκακόνhas he done?”ἐποίησενButδὲtheyοἱcried outἔκραξανall the more,περισσῶς“CrucifyΣταύρωσονhim!”αὐτόν
AndδὲPilate,ὁ Πιλᾶτοςwishingβουλόμενοςto satisfyτὸ ἱκανὸν ποιῆσαιthe crowd,τῷ ὄχλῳreleasedἀπέλυσενBarabbasτὸν Βαραββᾶνfor them,αὐτοῖςandκαὶhaving floggedφραγελλώσαςJesus,τὸν Ἰησοῦνhe handed him overπαρέδωκενtoἵναbe crucified.σταυρωθῇ
Andδὲthe soldiersΟἱ στρατιῶταιledἀπήγαγονhimαὐτὸνawayἀπήγαγονinsideἔσωthe courtyard,τῆς αὐλῆςwhichὅisἐστινthe praetorium,πραιτώριονandκαὶthey call togetherσυγκαλοῦσινthe wholeὅληνcohort.τὴν σπεῖραν
Andκαὶthey clotheἐνδιδύσκουσινhimαὐτὸνin purple,πορφύρανandκαὶafter twistingπλέξαντεςa crownστέφανονof thorns,ἀκάνθινονthey put itπεριτιθέασινon him.αὐτῷ
Andκαὶthey beganἤρξαντοto saluteἀσπάζεσθαιhim,αὐτόν“Hail,ΧαῖρεKingβασιλεῦof the Jews!”τῶν Ἰουδαίων
Andκαὶthey were strikingἔτυπτονhisαὐτοῦheadτὴν κεφαλὴνwith a reedκαλάμῳandκαὶspittingἐνέπτυονon him,αὐτῷandκαὶbendingτιθέντεςtheir knees,τὰ γόναταthey were paying homageπροσεκύνουνto him.αὐτῷ
Andκαὶwhenὅτεthey had mockedἐνέπαιξανhim,αὐτῷthey strippedἐξέδυσανhimαὐτὸνof the purpleτὴν πορφύρανandκαὶputἐνέδυσανhis ownτὰ ἴδιαclothesτὰ ἱμάτιαon him.αὐτὸνAndκαὶthey leadἐξάγουσινhimαὐτὸνoutἐξάγουσινtoἵναcrucifyσταυρώσωσινhim.αὐτόν
AndΚαὶthey compelἀγγαρεύουσινa passerby,παράγοντάa certainτιναSimonΣίμωναof Cyrene,Κυρηναῖονcomingἐρχόμενονfromἀπ’the country,ἀγροῦthe fatherτὸν πατέραof AlexanderἈλεξάνδρουandκαὶRufus,Ῥούφουtoἵναcarryἄρῃhis cross.τὸν σταυρὸν αὐτοῦ
Andκαὶthey bringφέρουσινhimαὐτὸνtoἐπὶthe placeτόπονGolgotha,τὸν ΓολγοθᾶνwhichὅisἐστινtranslatedμεθερμηνευόμενονPlaceΤόποςof a Skull.Κρανίου
Andκαὶthey were offeringἐδίδουνhimαὐτῷwineοἶνονmixed with myrrh,ἐσμυρνισμένονbutδὲheὃςdid notοὐκtake it.ἔλαβεν
Andκαὶthey crucifyσταυροῦσινhimαὐτὸνandκαὶdivideδιαμερίζονταιhis garments,τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτοῦcastingβάλλοντεςlotsκλῆρονforἐπ’them,αὐτὰto seewhoτίςwould takeἄρῃwhat.τί
Nowδὲit wasἮνthe thirdτρίτηhourὥραwhenκαὶthey crucifiedἐσταύρωσανhim.αὐτόν
Andκαὶthe inscriptionἡ ἐπιγραφὴof the chargeτῆς αἰτίαςagainst himαὐτοῦwasἦνwritten above:ἐπιγεγραμμένη“The KingὉ βασιλεὺςof the Jews.”τῶν Ἰουδαίων
Andκαὶwithσὺνhimαὐτῷthey crucifyσταυροῦσινtwoδύοrobbers,λῃστάςoneἕναonἐκthe rightδεξιῶνandκαὶoneἕναonἐξhisαὐτοῦleft.εὐωνύμων
And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “And he was counted among the lawless.”
AndΚαὶthose whoοἱpassed byπαραπορευόμενοιwere insultingἐβλασφήμουνhim,αὐτὸνshakingκινοῦντεςtheir headsτὰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶνandκαὶsaying,λέγοντες“Aha!ΟὐὰYou whoὁwould destroyκαταλύωνthe sanctuaryτὸν ναὸνandκαὶbuild itοἰκοδομῶνinἐνthreeτρισὶνdays,ἡμέραις
saveσῶσονyourselfσεαυτὸνby coming downκαταβὰςfromἀπὸthe cross!”τοῦ σταυροῦ
Likewiseὁμοίωςthe high priestsοἱ ἀρχιερεῖςalso,καὶmockingἐμπαίζοντεςhimtoπρὸςone anotherἀλλήλουςwithμετὰthe scribes,τῶν γραμματέωνwere saying,ἔλεγον“OthersἌλλουςhe saved;ἔσωσενhimselfἑαυτὸνhe cannotοὐ δύναταιsave.σῶσαι
Let the Messiah,ὁ χριστὸςthe Kingὁ βασιλεὺςof Israel,Ἰσραὴλcome downκαταβάτωnowνῦνfromἀπὸthe cross,τοῦ σταυροῦso thatἵναwe may seeἴδωμενandκαὶbelieve.”πιστεύσωμενAndκαὶthose whoοἱwere crucifiedσυνεσταυρωμένοιwithσὺνhimαὐτῷwere revilingὠνείδιζονhim.αὐτόν
AndΚαὶwhenγενομένηςthe sixthἕκτηςhourὥραςcame,γενομένηςdarknessσκότοςcameἐγένετοoverἐφ’the wholeὅληνlandτὴν γῆνuntilἕωςthe ninthἐνάτηςhour.ὥρας
Andκαὶat the ninthτῇ ἐνάτῃhourὥρᾳJesusὁ Ἰησοῦςcried outἐβόησενwith a loudμεγάλῃvoice,φωνῇ“Eloi,ἘλωῒEloi,ἐλωῒlemaλεμὰsabachthani?”σαβαχθάνιwhichὅisἐστινtranslated,μεθερμηνευόμενον“My God,Ὁ θεός μουmy God,ὁ θεός μουwhyεἰς τίhave you forsakenἐγκατέλιπέςme?”με
Andκαίsomeτινεςof thoseτῶνstanding by,παρεστηκότωνhearing it,ἀκούσαντεςwere saying,ἔλεγον“Look,Ἴδεhe is callingφωνεῖElijah.”Ἠλίαν
Andδέsomeoneτιςran,δραμὼνandκαὶfillingγεμίσαςa spongeσπόγγονwith sour wine,ὄξουςput it onπεριθεὶςa reedκαλάμῳand was givingἐπότιζενhimαὐτόνa drink,ἐπότιζενsaying,λέγων“Wait,Ἄφετεlet us seeἴδωμενwhetherεἰElijahἨλίαςcomesἔρχεταιto takeκαθελεῖνhimαὐτόνdown.”καθελεῖν
ButδὲJesus,ὁ Ἰησοῦςletting outἀφεὶςa loudμεγάληνcry,φωνὴνbreathed his last.ἐξέπνευσεν
Andκαὶthe curtainτὸ καταπέτασμαof the sanctuaryτοῦ ναοῦwas tornἐσχίσθηinεἰςtwo,δύοfromἀπ’topἄνωθενtoἕωςbottom.κάτω
Andδὲwhen the centurion,ὁ κεντυρίωνwhoὁstoodπαρεστηκὼςfacingἐξ ἐναντίαςhim,αὐτοῦsawἰδὼνthatὅτιhe breathed his lastἐξέπνευσενin this way,οὕτωςhe said,εἶπεν“TrulyἈληθῶςthisοὗτοςmanὁ ἄνθρωποςwasἦνGod’sθεοῦSon.”υἱὸς
Andδὲthere wereἮσανalsoκαὶwomenγυναῖκεςwatchingθεωροῦσαιfrom a distance,ἀπὸ μακρόθενamongἐνwhomαἷςwerebothκαὶMaryΜαρίαMagdaleneἡ ΜαγδαληνὴandκαὶMaryΜαρίαthe motherἡ μήτηρof JamesἸακώβουthe youngerτοῦ μικροῦandκαὶof Joses,ἸωσῆτοςandκαὶSalome,Σαλώμη
who,αἳwhenὅτεhe wasἦνinἐνGalilee,τῇ Γαλιλαίᾳused to followἠκολούθουνhimαὐτῷandκαὶserveδιηκόνουνhim,αὐτῷandκαὶmanyπολλαὶotherἄλλαιwomenwhoαἱhad come up withσυναναβᾶσαιhimαὐτῷtoεἰςJerusalem.Ἱεροσόλυμα

JosephἸωσὴφofὁ ἀπὸArimathea,Ἁριμαθαίαςa respectedεὐσχήμωνmember of the council,βουλευτήςwhoὃςwasἦνalsoκαὶhimselfαὐτὸςwaiting forπροσδεχόμενοςthe kingdomτὴν βασιλείανof God,τοῦ θεοῦcameἐλθὼνandtook courageτολμήσαςand went inεἰσῆλθενtoπρὸςPilateτὸν Πιλᾶτονandκαὶasked forᾐτήσατοthe bodyτὸ σῶμαof Jesus.τοῦ Ἰησοῦ
ButδὲPilateὁ Πιλᾶτοςwas amazedἐθαύμασενthatεἰhe was alreadyἤδηdead;τέθνηκενandκαὶsummoningπροσκαλεσάμενοςthe centurion,τὸν κεντυρίωναhe askedἐπηρώτησενhimαὐτὸνwhetherεἰhe had been deadἀπέθανενlong.πάλαι
Andκαὶlearning itγνοὺςfromἀπὸthe centurion,τοῦ κεντυρίωνοςhe grantedἐδωρήσατοthe corpseτὸ πτῶμαto Joseph.τῷ Ἰωσήφ
Andκαὶhaving boughtἀγοράσαςa linen cloth,σινδόναhe tookκαθελὼνhimαὐτὸνdown,καθελὼνwrapped himἐνείλησενin the linen cloth,τῇ σινδόνιandκαὶlaidἔθηκενhimαὐτὸνinἐνa tombμνημείῳthatὃhad beenἦνhewnλελατομημένονout ofἐκthe rock;πέτραςandκαὶhe rolledπροσεκύλισενa stoneλίθονagainstἐπὶthe entranceτὴν θύρανof the tomb.τοῦ μνημείου
