Mark 14:3-9

3And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of ointment of pure nard, very costly; breaking the jar, she poured it over his head. 4But there were some who were indignant among themselves: “Why has this waste of the ointment happened? 5For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her. 6But Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why do you cause her trouble? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want you can do them good; but me you do not always have. 8What she had she did; she has anticipated anointing my body for burial. 9And truly I tell you, wherever the good news is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”

Matthew 26:6-13

6Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very costly perfume, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table. 8But when the disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9For this could have been sold for much and given to the poor.” 10But Jesus, knowing it, said to them, “Why do you cause trouble for the woman? For she has done a beautiful work for me. 11For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me. 12For in pouring this perfume on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial. 13Truly I tell you, wherever this good news is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”

John 12:1-8

1So six days before the Passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2So they gave a dinner for him there, and Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him. 3Then Mary took a litra of perfume, pure nard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, the one who was going to hand him over, says, 5“Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having the money box, he used to take what was put into it. 7So Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. 8For the poor you always have with you, but me you do not always have.”

Luke 7:36-50

36Now one of the Pharisees was asking him to eat with him, and going into the Pharisee’s house, he reclined at table. 37And look, a woman who was a sinner in the town —and when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, she brought an alabaster flask of perfume, 38and standing behind at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears, and she was wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing his feet and anointing them with the perfume. 39But when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “This man, if he were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who touches him, that she is a sinner.” 40And Jesus answered and said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he says, “Teacher, say it.” 41“A certain moneylender had two debtors: the one owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. 42When they did not have the means to pay back, he forgave them both. Which of them, then, will love him more?” 43Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one to whom he forgave more.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.” 44And turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. 45You gave me no kiss; but she, since I came in, has not stopped kissing my feet. 46You did not anoint my head with oil; but she has anointed my feet with perfume. 47Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, because she loved much; but the one to whom little is forgiven loves little.” 48And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” 49And those who were reclining at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?” 50And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
