Mark 4:13-20
13And he says to them, “Do you not understand this parable? And how will you understand all the parables? 14The sower sows the word. 15And these are the ones along the path, where the word is sown; and when they hear, at once Satan comes and takes away the word that has been sown in them. 16And likewise these are the ones sown on the rocky ground, who, when they hear the word, at once receive it with joy; 17and they have no root in themselves, but are short-lived; then, when affliction or persecution comes on account of the word, at once they fall away. 18And others are the ones sown among the thorns; these are the ones who have heard the word, 19and the worries of the age and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things, coming in, choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 20And those are the ones sown on the good soil, who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, one thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundred.”
18So you, hear the parable of the sower. 19When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart; this is the one sown along the path. 20And the one sown on the rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and at once receives it with joy; 21yet he has no root in himself, but is short-lived; and when affliction or persecution comes on account of the word, at once he falls away. 22And the one sown among the thorns, this is the one who hears the word, and the worry of this age and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful. 23And the one sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces, some a hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.”
11Now this is the parable: the seed is the word of God. 12And those along the path are the ones who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13And those on the rock are the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root; they believe for a while, and in a time of testing fall away. 14And what fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked by worries and riches and pleasures of life, and they do not bring fruit to maturity. 15But that in the good soil, these are the ones who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, hold it fast and bear fruit with perseverance.
