Matthew 22:1–10
A king invites guests to his son's wedding banquet, and the hall fills with unexpected guests
Study it word by word1And Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
2“The kingdom of heaven has become like a man, a king, who made a wedding feast for his son.
3And he sent his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding feast, and they were not willing to come.
4Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Look, I have prepared my dinner, my bulls and the fattened animals have been slaughtered, and everything is ready; come to the wedding feast.”’
5But they paid no attention and went off, one to his own field, another to his business;
6and the rest, seizing his slaves, treated them shamefully and killed them.
7The king was angered, and sending his troops, he destroyed those murderers and burned their city.
8Then he says to his slaves, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy.
9So go to the places where the roads go out of the city, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding feast.’
10And those slaves went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both evil and good; and the wedding feast was filled with guests.
