Matthew 24:36–44
Not even the angels or the Son know the day; it will be as in the days of Noah
Study it word by word36But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, except the Father alone.
37For just as the days of Noah were, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
38For as in the days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah went into the ark,
39and they did not know until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be also the coming of the Son of Man.
40Then two will be in the field; one is taken and one is left.
41Two women grinding at the mill; one is taken and one is left.
42So keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.
43But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.
44Because of this you also must be ready, because at an hour you do not expect the Son of Man is coming.
In its context
34Truly I tell you, this generation will never pass away until all these things happen.
35Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
…
45Who, then, is the faithful and wise slave whom the master has put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time?
46Happy is that slave whom his master will find doing so when he comes.
