Matthew 27:57–61
Joseph of Arimathea asks for the body and buries it in his own new tomb
Study it word by word57When evening came, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself also had become a disciple of Jesus.
58This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him.
59And Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth
60and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut in the rock; and after rolling a large stone to the door of the tomb, he went away.
61And Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the grave.
In its context

62Now on the next day, which is after the Preparation, the high priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate
63and said, “Sir, we remember that that impostor said while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will be raised.’
