Matthew 6:26–30
Jesus points to birds and lilies to speak of the Father's care
Study it word by word26Look at the birds of the sky: they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27And which of you, by worrying, can add a single cubit to his span of life?
28And why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they do not labor nor spin;
29yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed like one of these.
30But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into an oven, will he not much more clothe you, you of little faith?
In its context
24“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will hold on to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.
25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
…
31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
32For all these things the nations seek after; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
