Matthew 8:5–10

A centurion trusts Jesus' word and amazes him

5When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, pleading with him

6and saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, terribly tormented.”

7And he says to him, “I will come and heal him.”

8And the centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof; but only say a word, and my servant will be healed.

9For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under me; and I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

10Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those who were following, “Truly I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.

In its context

3And stretching out his hand, he touched him, saying, “I am willing; be made clean.” And at once his leprosy was cleansed.

4And Jesus says to him, “See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

…

11And I tell you that many will come from east and west and sit at table with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

12but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
