Translation note

A very difficult verse in Hebrew, above all its second half; the translation follows the words as closely as possible. The general sense: death carries off the confident rich as a shepherd carries off his flock, and in the end (“in the morning”) it is the upright who remain on top.

The context

13This is their way, of those who have folly, and of those after them who are pleased with their mouth. Selah.
