When Job’s three companions heard all this evil that had come upon him, they came, each from his place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite; they arranged to meet together to come to show him sympathy and to comfort him. They lifted up their eyes from a distance and did not recognize him, and they raised their voices and wept; each tore his robe, and they scattered dust over their heads toward the heavens. They sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that the pain was very great.
