Davidדָּוִידassembledוַיַּקְהֵלat Jerusalemאֶל יְרוּשָׁלִָםallאֶת כָּלthe chiefsשָׂרֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלthe chiefsשָׂרֵיof the tribes,הַשְּׁבָטִיםand the commandersוְשָׂרֵיof the divisionsהַמַּחְלְקוֹתwho ministeredהַמְשָׁרְתִיםto the king,אֶת הַמֶּלֶךְand the commandersוְשָׂרֵיof thousandsהָאֲלָפִיםand the commandersוְשָׂרֵיof hundreds,הַמֵּאוֹתand the chiefsוְשָׂרֵיover allכָלthe propertyרְכוּשׁand livestockוּמִקְנֶהof the kingלַמֶּלֶךְand of his sons,וּלְבָנָיוwithעִםthe officialsהַסָּרִיסִיםand the mighty menוְהַגִּבּוֹרִיםand everyוּלְכָלmighty manגִּבּוֹרof valor.חָיִל
KingהַמֶּלֶךְDavidדָּוִידroseוַיָּקָםto his feetעַל רַגְלָיוand said,וַיֹּאמֶר“Listen to me,שְׁמָעוּנִיmy brothersאַחַיand my people.וְעַמִּיAs for me,אֲנִיit wasעִםin my heartלְבָבִיto buildלִבְנוֹתa houseבֵּיתof restמְנוּחָהfor the arkלַאֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWHיְהוָהand for the footstoolוְלַהֲדֹםof the feetרַגְלֵיof our Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּand I made preparationsוַהֲכִינוֹתִיto build it.לִבְנוֹת
But Elohimוְהָאֱלֹהִיםsaid to me,אָמַר לִי‘You shall notלֹאbuildתִבְנֶהa houseבַיִתfor my name,לִשְׁמִיforכִּיyouאַתָּהare a manאִישׁof warsמִלְחָמוֹתand have shedוְ שָׁפָכְתָּblood.’דָמִים
Yet YHWH,וַ יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלchoseיִּבְחַרmeבִּיout of allמִכֹּלthe houseבֵּיתof my fatherאָבִיto beלִהְיוֹתkingלְמֶלֶךְoverעַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלforever;לְעוֹלָםforכִּיhe choseבָּחַרJudahבִיהוּדָהas leader,לְנָגִידand in the houseוּבְבֵיתof Judah,יְהוּדָהthe houseבֵּיתof my father,אָבִיand among the sonsוּבִבְנֵיof my fatherאָבִיhe took pleasureרָצָהin meבִּיto make me kingלְהַמְלִיךְoverעַלallכָּלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
And of allוּמִכָּלmy sonsבָּנַי(forכִּיYHWHיְהוָהhas given meנָתַן לִיmanyרַבִּיםsons)בָּנִיםhe choseוַיִּבְחַרSolomonבִּשְׁלֹמֹהmy sonבְנִיto sitלָשֶׁבֶתonעַלthe throneכִּסֵּאof the kingdomמַלְכוּתof YHWHיְהוָהoverעַלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
He said to me,וַיֹּאמֶר לִי‘Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהyour son,בִנְךָheהוּאshall buildיִבְנֶהmy houseבֵיתִיand my courts,וַחֲצֵרוֹתָיforכִּיI have chosen himבָחַרְתִּי בוֹto be myלִיson,לְבֵןand Iוַאֲנִיwill beאֶהְיֶהhisלּוֹfather.לְאָב
I will establishוַהֲכִינוֹתִיhis kingdomאֶת מַלְכוּתוֹforever,עַד לְעוֹלָםifאִםhe holds firmיֶחֱזַקto doלַעֲשׂוֹתmy commandmentsמִצְוֺתַיand my rules,וּמִשְׁפָּטַיas at this day.’כַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה
So now,וְעַתָּהin the sightלְעֵינֵיof allכָלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלthe assemblyקְהַלof YHWH,יְהוָהand in the hearingוּבְאָזְנֵיof our Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּkeepשִׁמְרוּand seekוְדִרְשׁוּallכָּלthe commandmentsמִצְוֺתof YHWHיְהוָהyour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵיכֶםso thatלְמַעַןyou may possessתִּירְשׁוּthe goodהַטּוֹבָהlandאֶת הָאָרֶץand give it as an inheritanceוְהִנְחַלְתֶּםto your sonsלִבְנֵיכֶםafter youאַחֲרֵיכֶםforever.עַד עוֹלָם
And you,וְאַתָּהSolomonשְׁלֹמֹהmy son,בְנִיknowדַּעthe Elohimאֶת אֱלֹהֵיof your fatherאָבִיךָand serve himוְעָבְדֵהוּwith a wholeבְּ שָׁלֵםheartלֵבand with a willingוּבְ חֲפֵצָהsoul;נֶפֶשׁforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהseeks outדּוֹרֵשׁallכָלheartsלְבָבוֹתand understandsוְ מֵבִיןeveryכָלinclinationיֵצֶרof the thoughts.מַחֲשָׁבוֹתIfאִםyou seek him,תִּדְרְשֶׁנּוּhe will let himself be foundיִמָּצֵאby you;לָךְbut ifוְאִםyou forsake him,תַּעַזְבֶנּוּhe will reject youיַזְנִיחֲךָforever.לָעַד
SeeרְאֵהnowעַתָּהthatכִּיYHWHיְהוָהhas chosen youבָּחַר בְּךָto buildלִבְנוֹתa houseבַּיִתfor the sanctuary.לַמִּקְדָּשׁBe strongחֲזַקand do it.”וַעֲשֵׂה
DavidדָּוִידgaveוַיִּתֵּןSolomonלִשְׁלֹמֹהhis sonבְנוֹthe patternאֶת תַּבְנִיתof the porticoהָאוּלָםand of its houses,וְאֶת בָּתָּיוits treasure rooms,וְגַנְזַכָּיוits upper rooms,וַעֲלִיֹּתָיוits innerהַפְּנִימִיםchambers,וַחֲדָרָיוand of the houseוּבֵיתof the cover of expiation;הַכַּפֹּרֶת
and the patternוְתַבְנִיתof allכֹּלthatאֲשֶׁרhe hadהָיָה עִמּוֹin the spiritבָרוּחַfor the courtsלְחַצְרוֹתof the houseבֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהand for allוּלְכָלthe chambersהַלְּשָׁכוֹתaround,סָבִיבfor the treasuriesלְאֹצְרוֹתof the houseבֵּיתof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםand for the treasuriesוּלְאֹצְרוֹתof the holy things;הַקֳּדָשִׁים
for the divisionsוּלְמַחְלְקוֹתof the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִיםand of the Levites,וְהַלְוִיִּםand for allוּלְכָלthe workמְלֶאכֶתof the serviceעֲבוֹדַתof the houseבֵּיתof YHWH,יְהוָהand for allוּלְכָלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof the serviceעֲבוֹדַתof the houseבֵּיתof YHWH;יְהוָה
for the gold,לַזָּהָבby weight,בַּמִּשְׁקָלfor the things of gold,לַזָּהָבfor allלְכָלthe utensilsכְּלֵיfor each service;עֲבוֹדָה וַעֲבוֹדָהfor allלְכֹלthe utensilsכְּלֵיof silverהַכֶּסֶףby weight,בְּמִשְׁקָלfor allלְכָלthe utensilsכְּלֵיfor each service;עֲבוֹדָה וַעֲבוֹדָה
and the weightוּמִשְׁקָלfor the lampstandsלִמְנֹרוֹתof goldהַזָּהָבand their lampsוְנֵרֹתֵיהֶםof gold,זָהָבby the weightבְּמִשְׁקַלof each lampstandמְנוֹרָה וּמְנוֹרָהand its lamps;וְנֵרֹתֶיהָand for the lampstandsוְלִמְנֹרוֹתof silver,הַכֶּסֶףby weight,בְּמִשְׁקָלfor each lampstandלִמְנוֹרָהand its lamps,וְנֵרֹתֶיהָaccording to the serviceכַּעֲבוֹדַתof each lampstand;מְנוֹרָה וּמְנוֹרָה
and the goldוְאֶת הַזָּהָבby weightמִשְׁקָלfor the tablesלְשֻׁלְחֲנוֹתof the row,הַמַּעֲרֶכֶתfor each table,לְשֻׁלְחַן וְשֻׁלְחָןand silverוְכֶסֶףfor the tablesלְשֻׁלְחֲנוֹתof silver;הַכָּסֶף
and the forks,וְהַמִּזְלָגוֹתthe bowls,וְהַמִּזְרָקוֹתand the jarsוְהַקְּשָׂוֺתof pureטָהוֹרgold;זָהָבand for the cupsוְלִכְפוֹרֵיof gold,הַזָּהָבby weightבְּמִשְׁקָלfor each cup;לִכְפוֹר וּכְפוֹרand for the cupsוְלִכְפוֹרֵיof silver,הַכֶּסֶףby weightבְּמִשְׁקָלfor each cup;לִכְפוֹר וּכְפוֹר
and for the altarוּלְמִזְבַּחof incense,הַקְּטֹרֶתrefinedמְזֻקָּקgoldזָהָבby weight;בַּמִּשְׁקָלand for the patternוּלְתַבְנִיתof the chariot,הַמֶּרְכָּבָהthe cherubimהַכְּרֻבִיםof goldזָהָבthat spread outלְפֹרְשִׂיםand coverוְסֹכְכִיםoverעַלthe arkאֲרוֹןof the covenantבְּרִיתof YHWH.יְהוָה
“All thisהַכֹּלin writingבִּכְתָבfrom the handמִיַּדof YHWHיְהוָהupon me,עָלַיhe made me understand:הִשְׂכִּילallכֹּלthe worksמַלְאֲכוֹתof the pattern.”הַתַּבְנִית
Davidדָּוִידsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto Solomonלִשְׁלֹמֹהhis son,בְנוֹ“Be strongחֲזַקand firm,וֶאֱמַץand do it;וַעֲשֵׂהdo notאַלfearתִּירָאand do notוְאַלbe dismayed,תֵּחָתforכִּיYHWHיְהוָהElohim,אֱלֹהִיםmy Elohim,אֱלֹהַיis with you.עִמָּךְHe will notלֹאlet go of youיַרְפְּךָorוְלֹאforsake you,יַעַזְבֶךָּuntilעַדallכָּלthe workמְלֶאכֶתfor the serviceעֲבוֹדַתof the houseבֵּיתof YHWHיְהוָהis finished.לִכְלוֹת
And look,וְהִנֵּהthe divisionsמַחְלְקוֹתof the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִיםand of the Levitesוְהַלְוִיִּםfor allלְכָלthe serviceעֲבוֹדַתof the houseבֵּיתof Elohim;הָאֱלֹהִיםand with youוְעִמְּךָin allבְכָלthe workמְלָאכָהwill be everyלְכָלwilling man,נָדִיבwith wisdomבַּחָכְמָהfor anyלְכָלservice;עֲבוֹדָהand the officialsוְהַשָּׂרִיםand allוְכָלthe peopleהָעָםare ready for allלְכָלyour words.”דְּבָרֶיךָ
