KingהַמֶּלֶךְDavidדָּוִידsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto allלְכָלthe assembly,הַקָּהָל“Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהmy son,בְנִיthe only oneאֶחָדElohimאֱלֹהִיםhas chosen,בָּחַר בּוֹis a youthנַעַרand tender,וָרָךְand the workוְהַמְּלָאכָהis great;גְדוֹלָהforכִּיthe palaceהַבִּירָהis notלֹאfor manלְאָדָםbutכִּיfor YHWHלַיהוָהElohim.אֱלֹהִים
With allוּכְכָלmy strengthכֹּחִיI have preparedהֲכִינוֹתִיfor the houseלְבֵיתof my Elohimאֱלֹהַיthe goldהַזָּהָבfor the things of gold,לַזָּהָבthe silverוְהַכֶּסֶףfor the things of silver,לַכֶּסֶףthe bronzeוְהַנְּחֹשֶׁתfor the things of bronze,לַנְּחֹשֶׁתthe ironהַבַּרְזֶלfor the things of iron,לַבַּרְזֶלand the woodוְהָעֵצִיםfor the things of wood;לָעֵצִיםonyxשֹׁהַםstonesאַבְנֵיand stones for setting,וּמִלּוּאִיםstonesאַבְנֵיof antimonyפוּךְand of colors,וְרִקְמָהand everyוְכֹלpreciousיְקָרָהstone,אֶבֶןand marbleשַׁיִשׁstonesוְאַבְנֵיin abundance.לָרֹב
Moreover,וְעוֹדbecause I take pleasureבִּרְצוֹתִיin the houseבְּבֵיתof my Elohim,אֱלֹהַיI haveיֶשׁ לִיa special treasureסְגֻלָּהof goldזָהָבand silver;וָכָסֶףI give itנָתַתִּיto the houseלְבֵיתof my Elohim,אֱלֹהַיover and aboveלְמַעְלָהallמִכָּלthat I have preparedהֲכִינוֹתִיfor the holyהַקֹּדֶשׁhouse:לְבֵית
threeשְׁלֹשֶׁתthousandאֲלָפִיםtalentsכִּכְּרֵיof gold,זָהָבof the goldמִזְּהַבof Ophir,אוֹפִירand sevenוְשִׁבְעַתthousandאֲלָפִיםtalentsכִּכַּרof refinedמְזֻקָּקsilver,כֶּסֶףto overlayלָטוּחַthe wallsקִירוֹתof the houses;הַבָּתִּים
the goldלַזָּהָבfor the things of goldלַזָּהָבand the silverוְלַכֶּסֶףfor the things of silver,לַכֶּסֶףand for allוּלְכָלthe workמְלָאכָהby the handבְּיַדof the craftsmen.חָרָשִׁיםWho thenוּמִיoffers willinglyמִתְנַדֵּבto fillלְמַלֹּאותhis handיָדוֹtodayהַיּוֹםfor YHWH?”לַיהוָה
The chiefsשָׂרֵיof the fathers’ houses,הָאָבוֹתthe chiefsוְשָׂרֵיof the tribesשִׁבְטֵיof Israel,יִשְׂרָאֵלthe commandersוְשָׂרֵיof thousandsהָאֲלָפִיםand of hundreds,וְהַמֵּאוֹתand the chiefsוּלְשָׂרֵיof the king’sהַמֶּלֶךְworkמְלֶאכֶתoffered willingly;וַיִּתְנַדְּבוּ
they gaveוַיִּתְּנוּfor the serviceלַעֲבוֹדַתof the houseבֵּיתof Elohimהָאֱלֹהִיםfiveחֲמֵשֶׁתthousandאֲלָפִיםtalentsכִּכָּרִיםof goldזָהָבand ten thousandוַ רִבּוֹdarics,אֲדַרְכֹנִיםtenעֲשֶׂרֶתthousandאֲלָפִיםtalentsכִּכָּרִיםof silver,וְכֶסֶףeighteen thousandרִבּוֹ וּשְׁמוֹנַת אֲלָפִיםtalentsכִּכָּרִיםof bronze,וּנְחֹשֶׁתand a hundredוּ מֵאָהthousandאֶלֶףtalentsכִּכָּרִיםof iron.בַרְזֶל
Whoever hadוְהַנִּמְצָא אִתּוֹstonesאֲבָנִיםgave themנָתְנוּto the treasuryלְאוֹצַרof the houseבֵּיתof YHWH,יְהוָהunder the directionעַל יַדof Jehielיְחִיאֵלthe Gershonite.הַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּי
The peopleהָעָםrejoicedוַיִּשְׂמְחוּthat they had offered willingly,עַל הִתְנַדְּבָםforכִּיwith a wholeבְּ שָׁלֵםheartלֵבthey had offered willinglyהִתְנַדְּבוּto YHWH;לַיהוָהand alsoוְגַםDavidדָּוִידthe kingהַמֶּלֶךְrejoicedשָׂמַחwith greatגְדוֹלָהjoy.שִׂמְחָה
DavidדָּוִידblessedוַיְבָרֶךְYHWHאֶת יְהוָהin the sightלְעֵינֵיof allכָּלthe assembly.הַקָּהָלDavidדָּוִידsaid,וַיֹּאמֶר“Blessedבָּרוּךְare you,אַתָּהYHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Israelיִשְׂרָאֵלour father,אָבִינוּfrom eternityמֵעוֹלָםto eternity.וְעַד עוֹלָם
Yours,לְךָYHWH,יְהוָהare the greatnessהַגְּדֻלָּהand the mightוְהַגְּבוּרָהand the beautyוְהַתִּפְאֶרֶתand the eminenceוְהַנֵּצַחand the splendor,וְהַהוֹדforכִּיallכֹלthat is in the heavensבַּשָּׁמַיִםand on the earthוּבָאָרֶץis yours.Yours,לְךָYHWH,יְהוָהis the kingdom,הַמַּמְלָכָהand you areוְthe one who exalts himselfהַמִּתְנַשֵּׂאas headלְרֹאשׁover all.לְכֹל
Richesוְהָעֹשֶׁרand gloryוְהַכָּבוֹדcome from before you,מִלְּפָנֶיךָand youוְאַתָּהruleמוֹשֵׁלover all;בַּכֹּלin your handוּבְיָדְךָare strengthכֹּחַand might,וּגְבוּרָהand in your handוּבְיָדְךָit is to make greatלְגַדֵּלand to strengthenוּלְחַזֵּקall.לַכֹּל
And now,וְעַתָּהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּweאֲנַחְנוּgive thanksמוֹדִיםto youלָךְand praiseוּמְהַלְלִיםthe nameלְשֵׁםof your beauty.תִּפְאַרְתֶּךָ
Forוְכִיwhoמִיam I,אֲנִיand whoוּמִיare my people,עַמִּיthatכִּיwe should haveנַעְצֹרstrengthכֹּחַto offer willinglyלְהִתְנַדֵּבlike this?כָּזֹאתForכִּיfrom youמִמְּךָcomes everything,הַכֹּלand from your handוּמִיָּדְךָwe have givenנָתַנּוּto you.לָךְ
Forכִּיwe areאֲנַחְנוּresident aliensגֵרִיםbefore youלְפָנֶיךָand temporary residents,וְתוֹשָׁבִיםlike allכְּכָלour fathers;אֲבֹתֵינוּlike a shadowכַּצֵּלare our daysיָמֵינוּonעַלthe earth,הָאָרֶץand there is noוְאֵיןhope.מִקְוֶה
YHWHיְהוָהour Elohim,אֱלֹהֵינוּallכֹלthisהַזֶּהabundanceהֶהָמוֹןthatאֲשֶׁרwe have preparedהֲכִינֹנוּto build youלִבְנוֹת לְךָa houseבַיִתfor your holy nameלְשֵׁם קָדְשֶׁךָisהוּאfrom your hand,מִיָּדְךָand allהַכֹּלis yours.וּלְךָ
I know,וְיָדַעְתִּיmy Elohim,אֱלֹהַיthatכִּיyouאַתָּהtestבֹּחֵןthe heartלֵבָבand take pleasureוּ תִּרְצֶהin uprightness.מֵישָׁרִיםAs for me,אֲנִיin the uprightnessבְּיֹשֶׁרof my heartלְבָבִיI have offered willinglyהִתְנַדַּבְתִּיallכָלthese things;אֵלֶּהand nowוְעַתָּהI have seenרָאִיתִיwith joyבְשִׂמְחָהyour peopleעַמְּךָwho are presentהַנִּמְצְאוּhereפֹהoffering willinglyלְהִתְנַדֶּבto you.לָךְ
YHWH,יְהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof Abraham,אַבְרָהָםIsaac,יִצְחָקand Israel,וְיִשְׂרָאֵלour fathers,אֲבֹתֵינוּkeepשֳׁמְרָהthisזֹּאתforeverלְעוֹלָםas the inclinationלְיֵצֶרof the thoughtsמַחְשְׁבוֹתof the heartלְבַבof your people,עַמֶּךָand establishוְהָכֵןtheir heartלְבָבָםtoward you.אֵלֶיךָ
And to Solomonוְלִשְׁלֹמֹהmy sonבְנִיgiveתֵּןa wholeשָׁלֵםheartלֵבָבto keepלִשְׁמוֹרyour commandments,מִצְוֺתֶיךָyour testimonies,עֵדְוֺתֶיךָand your statutes,וְחֻקֶּיךָand to doוְלַעֲשׂוֹתall of it,הַכֹּלand to buildוְלִבְנוֹתthe palaceהַבִּירָהfor whichאֲשֶׁרI have made preparations.”הֲכִינוֹתִי
Davidדָּוִידsaidוַיֹּאמֶרto allלְכָלthe assembly,הַקָּהָל“Now blessבָּרְכוּ נָאYHWHאֶת יְהוָהyour Elohim.”אֱלֹהֵיכֶםAnd allכָלthe assemblyהַקָּהָלblessedוַיְבָרֲכוּYHWH,לַיהוָהthe Elohimאֱלֹהֵיof their fathers,אֲבֹתֵיהֶםand bowed their headsוַיִּקְּדוּand bowed downוַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּto YHWHלַיהוָהand to the king.וְלַמֶּלֶךְ
They sacrificedוַיִּזְבְּחוּsacrificesזְבָחִיםto YHWHלַיהוָהand offeredוַיַּעֲלוּburnt offeringsעֹלוֹתto YHWHלַיהוָהon the day afterלְמָחֳרַתthatהַהוּאday:הַיּוֹםa thousandאֶלֶףbulls,פָּרִיםa thousandאֶלֶףrams,אֵילִיםa thousandאֶלֶףlambs,כְּבָשִׂיםwith their libationsוְנִסְכֵּיהֶםand sacrificesוּזְבָחִיםin abundanceלָרֹבfor allלְכָלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
They ateוַיֹּאכְלוּand drankוַיִּשְׁתּוּbeforeלִפְנֵיYHWHיְהוָהon thatבַּ הַהוּאdayיּוֹםwith greatגְדוֹלָהjoy.בְּשִׂמְחָהThey madeוַSolomonלִשְׁלֹמֹהsonבֶןof Davidדָּוִידkingיַּמְלִיכוּa second time,שֵׁנִיתand anointed himוַיִּמְשְׁחוּfor YHWHלַיהוָהas leader,לְנָגִידand Zadokוּלְצָדוֹקas priest.לְכֹהֵן
Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהsatוַיֵּשֶׁבonעַלthe throneכִּסֵּאof YHWHיְהוָהas kingלְמֶלֶךְin placeתַּחַתof Davidדָּוִידhis father,אָבִיוand he prospered,וַיַּצְלַחand allכָּלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלlistened to him.וַיִּשְׁמְעוּ אֵלָיו
Allוְכָלthe officialsהַשָּׂרִיםand the mighty men,וְהַגִּבֹּרִיםand alsoוְגַםallכָּלthe sonsבְּנֵיof KingהַמֶּלֶךְDavid,דָּוִידsubmittedנָתְנוּ יָדto Solomonתַּחַת שְׁלֹמֹהthe king.הַמֶּלֶךְ
YHWHיְהוָהmagnifiedוַיְגַדֵּלSolomonאֶת שְׁלֹמֹהexceedinglyלְמַעְלָהin the sightלְעֵינֵיof allכָּלIsrael,יִשְׂרָאֵלand putוַיִּתֵּןon himעָלָיוa splendorהוֹדof kingshipמַלְכוּתsuch asאֲשֶׁרhad notלֹאbeenהָיָהonעַלanyכָּלkingמֶלֶךְbefore himלְפָנָיוoverעַלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
Thus Davidוְדָוִידsonבֶּןof JesseיִשָׁיreignedמָלַךְoverעַלallכָּלIsrael.יִשְׂרָאֵל
The daysוְהַיָּמִיםthatאֲשֶׁרhe reignedמָלַךְoverעַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלwere fortyאַרְבָּעִיםyears:שָׁנָהin Hebronבְּחֶבְרוֹןhe reignedמָלַךְsevenשֶׁבַעyears,שָׁנִיםand in Jerusalemוּבִירוּשָׁלִַםhe reignedמָלַךְthirtyשְׁלֹשִׁיםand three years.וְשָׁלוֹשׁ
He diedוַיָּמָתin a goodטוֹבָהold age,בְּשֵׂיבָהsatisfiedשְׂבַעwith days,יָמִיםriches,עֹשֶׁרand glory;וְכָבוֹדand Solomonשְׁלֹמֹהhis sonבְנוֹreignedוַיִּמְלֹךְin his place.תַּחְתָּיו
The actsוְדִבְרֵיof Davidדָּוִידthe king,הַמֶּלֶךְthe firstהָרִאשֹׁנִיםand the last,וְהָאֲחרֹנִיםare writtenהִנָּם כְּתוּבִיםinעַלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof Samuelשְׁמוּאֵלthe seer,הָרֹאֶהand inוְעַלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof Nathanנָתָןthe prophet,הַנָּבִיאand inוְעַלthe wordsדִּבְרֵיof Gadגָּדthe seer,הַחֹזֶה
with allעִם כָּלhis reignמַלְכוּתוֹand his might,וּגְבוּרָתוֹand the timesוְהָעִתִּיםthatאֲשֶׁרpassedעָבְרוּover himעָלָיוand overוְעַלIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵלand overוְעַלallכָּלthe kingdomsמַמְלְכוֹתof the lands.הָאֲרָצוֹת
